Here are some of the latest things I’ve found to do in the Twin Cities over the next few days, the weekend, and beyond. Enjoy!
Art-A-Whirl. More than 500 artists will show off and sell their work in the 15th annual Art-A-Whirl festival, the nation’s largest open studio and gallery tour. The festival runs this weekend (May 14-16) in Northeast Minneapolis on Friday 5-10pm, Saturday 12-8pm, and Sunday 12-5pm. There will be many different special events, including demonstrations, musical performances, and children’s activities.
Punch Pizza. Wear your high school or college letter jacket (current or former) into Punch Pizza on Grand Avenue and get a free Margerita or Napoli pizza (or $5.95 off any pizza) with this printable coupon. This coupon is good May 11-13 only. Do any of you still have your old letter jacket lying around?
Science Museum Preschool Playdates. Bring your preschooler to the Science Museum between 9:30am and 12pm on Mondays for free preschool playdates (admission is $11/adult). Your child will have plenty of opportunities to get some hands-on scientific thinking and learning, including make and take creations, special theater programs and demonstrations, and more. I can’t wait to take my son to this – even though he’s only a year old, I think he’d love it!
“Spring Out” Family Fun Event. If you have or care for a child with a disability, check out the free Arc “Spring Out” Family Fun Event at the Apple Valley Community Center from 10-11:30am on Saturday, May 15. Celebrate spring with a craft project (a decorated photo frame) you can make together and take home. There will also be entertainment and refreshments. To register, call Arc at 952-920-0855.
Your turn: What spring activities in the Twin Cities do you and your family enjoy?

Local libraries have many fun events. This Sat. Eden Prairie library at 1:30PM
Spice and Slice of Asia: Indian Foods and Festivities. They also have lots of fun event for kids. We love “Paws to read” where they bring in dogs and the kids get to read to them.
Tough to beat Como.
I agree flannel guy! The consevatory is my winter favorie on weekdays. The humidity and plants soothe my winter wary soul.

Laura –
Be warned – the preschool playdate is not as well organized as I had hoped and cost me more money than I was planning to spend :( I went a year ago and was sooo excited to take my very inquisitive 3 yr old, but was disappointed. They advertised activites, etc, but there really weren’t any special preschool activities/events, just open exhibits (which was fun to see, but not what we were expecting).
Hopefully they are better organized and I hope you have a better experience than we did. My daughter’s favorite part was the visit with the ranger (they read a story and had some interactive bird call thingys – and that would have been free as it is in the Mississippi River Visitor’s Center in the lobby area). Parking was an additional $8 (http://www.smm.org/directions/parkingrates/), which was a surprise. Though, I did get a discount ($2 I think) because we were Children’s Museum members.
Kristen – Thanks for letting me know some more details. Maybe I’ll carpool with another mom so that we can save money on parking.
I do hope you have a better experience than we did and you post about it so that I go back! :) I do like the Science Museum, I was just disappointed it cost more than I was planning. Good Luck!
Is there any discounts or coupons out there for Como Town?
Natalie – if you are around next Saturday there is a TPT discount – info here: http://www.tpt.org/familyfun/
