CVS Shopping List 5/23 – 5/29/10

CVS weekly deals are hot again this week. There are several items that you can get for free or better than free, including Nivea body wash (again), Gillette or Old Spice body wash, and SoBe lifewater.

If you’re new to CVS, your first step is to learn the ins and outs of the Extra Care program and learn how to read this shopping list. If you are just getting started and have questions, please leave them in the comments so we can all help you learn how to spend less.

Remember that this is a starting list of deals for the week. As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas, or we read about other deals across the blogosphere, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

Your turn: What other deals did you spot? What was the best deal you got this week at CVS?

Carrie, I just tried the strap perfects today and LOVED them…it was easy to use (somehow reaching from behind to put in and adjust the little clip sounded a bit complicated to me) but it was actually pretty easy. An added perk, besides hiding my bra straps while wearing a racerback tank, was that I didn’t have to worry about any bra straps falling down all day!! $3.50 is a pretty good price for 2 of them…6 clips come in each box…but Ebay has them for as low as .99 with free shipping for 3 clips and that is with Buy It Now (so you don’t have to bid). That’s where I bought mine and although they didn’t come in the Strap Perfect package, they were the exact same thing, just made from a different manufacturer or something. So if you are comfortable with Ebay or don’t have coupons, I believe Ebay is the best deal, but if you aren’t a big fan of buying online or plan on giving them as a gift, then CVS is probably a good deal. Sorry to ramble on!

    1. annie

thanks for the tip on the strap perfect. i need some!

  2. Erica

Usually the only Garnier skin care products that cost $5.99 are a cleansing scrub, and cleansing wipes. All the others are more than $10 a piece.

Mars single serve candy bars 1.08-2.17 oz (Cpn for Mars 3 Muskateers Truffle Crisp, Mint or Original)–limit 8 for .48 cents use .25 cpn from 5/16 Red Plum making them .23 cents a piece. Works for me

  4. Julie

    Hi Carrie

I could not find the Nabisco crackers in the CVS ad on sale for 98 cents and they did not ring up on sale at the register. The cashier said they were not on sale.
Curious where you saw them on sale?
I had already provided my coupon and paid when I noticed it on the receipt as she handed it to me. We returned them on the spot but I lost my $1/2 coupon. She said it was policy that they cannot return any coupons, even though I returned the product immediately.
98 cents is still a fair price so I would go back to buy more without a coupon, however not sure how to prove they are on sale?

I love the work you do and I am grateful for the savings you have provided my family!

I thought that the Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce 2/$3, using two 1.00 off coupons from today’s Smartsource was a great deal. Though you need two papers to do this deal. You pay .50 for each bottle.

    1. yolanda

Rainbow had Sweet Baby Ray’s 1/$.99, I found a paper with $1/1. I went shopping on Wednesday for double coupons and got 2 free.

      1. yolanda

Sorry it was a $1/2, and got 2 free.

I went to CVS and purchased the Gillette body wash using the $4 off/2 coupon and $3 extra bucks from a deal I got last week (I already used the other coupons at Walgreens last week), so I only paid $1 + tax for the items. Still got my $8 in extra bucks too! With all the deals on body wash, I should be good for quite some time. :-)

  7. jo

I got the 2 gillette body wash, along with three kellog’s cereal @1.66 each. I had $1.50/3 cereal coupon along with the B1G1 body wash coupon. I didn’t realize I had the $4/2 coupon for body wash in the stack as well and it went thru-with a $3 ECB from last wee. Paid $0.38 and got $8 ECB back for 2 body wash and three cereals. Great CVS trip.

  8. Megan

The Nabisco crackers were on sale for $0.98 at the Shakopee CVS. They’re the snack size boxes (like one sleeve of crackers instead of 4 in the regular sized boxes).

  9. serena

I have a couple of cvs/pharmacy coupons from the spitter outer that are 1/off of 2 paper products and 1/off of a cosmetic accessory (i dont know what would be included as an accessory) …Was wondering what everyone uses these for to get the best deals?? thanks for any help.

    1. Caarin

I received those coupons last week. I used the $1 off cosmetic accessory towards q-tips in a little travel case for 99 cents. It made it free.

    2. Monica

I have these coupons as well and used them today. I used the paper products coupon on the travel size packages of wipes. I like to keep them in my purse for when I am out and about and need to wipe my or my daughter’s hands. I used the cosmetics coupon for 2 travel size packages of cotton swabs. I have heard some people use them for cotton balls or those cotton rounds (not sure what they are called). I know some people have used the paper products coupon on CVS tissues or the single rolls of toilet paper. I always check out the travel section unless it states “excludes travel sizes.”

  10. Kim

Serena, the 1/off 2 paper products make the small purse packs of tissues free

  11. Julie

Thanks for the feedback on the Nabisco crackers. I am newer to this site and learning a ton from Carrie and everyone. I am appreciative. Thanks again!

  12. Lisa M

Pure Protein bars (pg 14) are Buy 1 Get 1 50% off. They are $1.99 each. If I have “Buy 1 get 1 free” coupon, Can I use this coupon with the sale and how much would I be paying? I got my coupons off Ebay as I buy this brand exclusively. Thanks for any help!!!

    1. Lisa M

Well so I went today.. The limit on the B1G1F coupon is $1.59… So I found out it’s really not a better deal than just buying at Wal-Mart… The bars are only $1.33 there, so using the coupon I’d be paying approx $0.67 each and at CVS it’s approx $0.70 each…

  13. Natasha

I just wanted to say how much I love that you put your own comments on some of the deals! Sometimes I’m not sure if a deal is really a good deal or not. So again, thanks!

  14. serena

thanks for the comments. I didn’t want to use coupons and waste money on stuff i didn’t intend to buy just because I had a coupon. But with 2 kids you can always use tissues. My CVS is VERY coupon friendly. And the cashier today told me that lotions and stuff in that aisle where included as cosmetic accessory they have little lotions for 99 cents that I got for free! Love travel sizes for my purse and diaper bag.

  15. Caarin

I did quite well at CVS today:
Lots of diapers and baby wipes are on clearance. With coupons I did very well on these. Both Pampers and Huggies are on clearance. (some papmers wipes on clearance for $1.46 and Newborn Pampers on clearance for 5.99. So if you use the $2/both a wipes and diapers, along with the $1.50 off any diapers coupon you basically get the wipes for free and the diapers for less than $4.50 a pack.)
The Nivea deal is a new deal, not the same as from a few weeks ago. Men’s is on sale for 3.99, so with the only coupons I had left for Nivea, the $3/1 (I had 4 coupons and bought 4). It made them 99 cents each. So it cost me $4 out of pocket and you got $5 back in RR. Great money maker.

  16. jo

I haven’t shopped CVS before do they take expired coupons?

    1. Cath

Jo, CVS’s policy is that no, they do NOT take expired coupons. That said, I’ve heard that a lot of CVS stores will take expired CVS store coupons, like ECBs and the ones from the coupon machine.

  17. Jessie

Hi I am new to this site, and I wanted to share me shopping list from CVS. I got 2 old spice deo. 2 o/s body wash, 1 o/s body spray, 1 bag kingsford, cvs brand face cream, ranch dressing, and 2 bags of chips, after q and e bucks I payed $21.17 total savings $27.02 plus got $8 in e bucks so its like paying 13.17. Thanks Carrie!!!

  18. jen

Check the clearance section of your CVS in Minnesota. I found this morning Pampers Cruisers in sizes 3, 4, 5, & 6 for 4.37 each. Used the 1.50/1 coupon from 5/2 P&G to get them for 2.87 each. size 3 was 52 count, size 4 was 46 count, size 5 was 40 count, and size 6 was 34 count. making size 3- .05 cents each, size 4 – .06 cents each, size 5 – .07 cents each and size 6 – .08 cents each. The best bargin I’ve come across on Pampers diapers ever. Hope this helps someone else in need of diapers.

  19. anita

    1. Amber
