Kids ages 12 and under can get a free book this summer through the Borders Summer Reading Double-Dog Dare Program. Just have your child read 10 books of his/her choice and list the titles on the reading program form.
Once you sign the completed form, have your child bring in the coupon to receive a free book. Titles available for selection include Ramona the Brave by Beverly Cleary, My Weird School: Miss Daisy is Crazy by Dan Gutman, and more. The coupon must be redeemed by 8/26/10.
Find a Borders location near you to see where you can redeem the coupon.
I (Laura) loved summer reading programs when I was a child. My dad used to bring me to the library at least once a week so I could pile up another stack of books to bring home. I used to read about a book a day, so programs like this were never a struggle for me!
Your turn: Are your kids big summer readers or not?

I also loved summer reading programs as a child at my local public library. I still love to read and hope to pass that love of reading on to my two little girls. One is having surgery in June, with a 4 – 5 month recovery. This will be a great way to get some reading done and at the end enjoy a free book. She has already said she thinks one of the titles of free books is the one she would like to have. She is a first grader and is able to read on her own fairly well so this will be very good for her to keep up and improve her reading skills. My almost four year old loves to be read to and this will be a great program for her as well. Thanks for sharing!
Half Price Books has a great program too! Kids 14 and under can earn a $3 reward for every week they read 15 minutes or more per day. Program is June 1-July 31. My girls loved this program last year as they could buy whatever books they wanted with their weekly returns. Forms can be picked up in the stores and the website is http://www.halfpricebooks.com, ENJOY!
Awesome. My daughter is a vor…, vorashu…ummm…really good reader ;-)
Thanks Laura and Amy!
Barnes & Nobles also has a summer reading program with a free book giveaway. In Washington County, the libraries there have a free book program too.
