*UPDTE* Peachtree Pro Accounting 2010 $34.99 After Rebate (Exp 4/24/10)

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Update: Peachtree’s price has gone up to $199.99 so now you’ll pay $34.99 after rebate. That’s still an amazing deal!

***

Peachtree Pro Accounting 2010 is free after rebate right now at Staples. Buy it for $165 before April 24, then register the product by calling 1-800-936-7059 and submit a mail-in rebate form (SKU 797819) before May 24, 2010 to ll get a $165 check back in the mail. If you order it online you’ll need to send the original packing slip as your receipt.

By now you might know that I LOVE free-after-rebate software deals and for some crazy reason I have a soft spot for free accounting software (how geeky is that?). Personally, I am using Microsoft Account Express that I downloaded free last fall. I might upgrade to Peachtree though, because the price is right.

Your turn: Do you participate in mail-in rebates or not? Why or why not?

Be careful with this one. A couple of references advising me not to do the peachtree rebate and a quick google later let me know this may not be a rebate I am willing to gamble with.

Heather – I quickly looked at some of the complaints from the Google search you did and many commented about how they didn’t include the serial # and therefore didn’t get the rebate back. I checked the form for this rebate and it looks like everything that you need to submit is listed on the form, so if you are careful and fill it out completely you should be fine. Granted, there is a always a risk of not doing it right when you complete a rebate, so you do need to read the fine print and watch the details.

I did this the last time it was free, it worked out just fine. Recevied my money pretty quickly after. I use this software for the two business that my husband and I own.

  3. Rachel says:

Thank you for this! I have a friend who highly recommended the software to me just last week. I look forward to ‘cashing’ in on this rebate!

  4. Andrea says:

Thank you so much for this! I am just starting my own business and wasn’t sure what I was going to do about accounting software, but this answers it for me!

Here is a comparison of the top 4 business accounting software programs for those of you looking –

I do consulting and bookkeeping for small business owners and happen to prefer QuickBooks. Their customer service and support is excellent. Most of the accountants I work with also use QuickBooks. I do hear Peachtree is a good product though.

    Great site.

While the rebate goes through the 24th, the sale price ended on the 17th so the software is no longer FAR.

Regarding the rebate, follow the instructions to the letter:

    1. Register the software by phone or online at http://www.peachtree.com under Support & Training >> Register Peachtree. Registration will provide the customer id and registration code. The serial number is on the back of the dvd case inside the box.

    2. Write the serial number, customer id and registration code on the rebate form. The pre-submit form discussed below does not have lines provided for this information so make sure to write it on the form, legibly, somewhere noticeable. Draw a line from the requirements in the Promotion Details to the written info if you so desire.

    3. Include the original upc code. Staple the upc code to the rebate form so that it does not get separated from the rebate form.

    4. Include a copy of the receipt or the original of the packing slip (looks a lot like a receipt) for online orders. I have always done a copy of the packing slip with no issues but YMMV and considering this is a $165 rebate …. Staple the receipt/packing slip to the rebate form. For me, page one is the rebate form, page two is the receipt. If the rebate submission is more than two pages, number the pages (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3).

    5. The rebate can be pre-submitted at http://www.rebateshq.com. While a pre-submitted rebate still needs to be mailed in, there are at least two advantages: you will have a tracking number from the start and your personal information will not be incorrectly entered at the rebate house.

    6. MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING. The rebate house, Parago/rebateshq, is fairly easy to work with if there are any problems provided you have copies of everything. I scan the rebate submission into the computer and then print out paper copies just in case.

    7. Mail the rebate in before the deadline. Keep a record of when the rebate was mailed.

    8. Keep a look out for emails acknowledging rebatehq’s receipt and processing of the rebate.

    9. Do not freak out if the rebate is initially invalidated if you followed all the requirements. Rebate processors have been known to make mistakes. The rebate form contains a number to call (1-888-213-9916) if there are any problems. The rebate house csr will be able to access a scanned copy of your rebate submission so if all the information was included the csr will be able to validate the rebate during the phone call. A re-submission by fax or US mail is sometimes necessary.

    10. If you have not received a check within 10 weeks of mailing in the submission, contact the rebate house.

    Good luck.
