Your turn: How many copies of the Sunday paper do you get (whether home-delivered or from the newsstand)?

How to Order

There are two ways to order, depending on how you’d like to pay (and they are both sort of old school, not online options).

Pay by check. If you prefer to pay by check, then complete this Star Tribune order form, include your check and mail it to the address listed on the bottom of the form.

Pay by credit card. This is a two-step process. First, you complete this order form with your contact information and subscription request (you may find it useful to read the subscription options on the paper-based subscription form). Step two is that someone from the Pocket Your Dollars team will follow-up with you to request your credit card information. We do not have a secure online payment system right now, which is why we are using this old-fashioned approach.

Just to be clear, you will get the two free Water Park passes with every subscription ordered. That means if you order multiple subscriptions, so that get multiple copies of the coupon inserts, you will get multiple sets of Water Park passes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t I get the Sunday Star Tribune for $0.75 on the newsstand on Saturdays? Why would I pay $1.25 to have it delivered?

Yes. You can pick up an early edition of the Sunday paper for $0.75 on the newsstand. However, you are not guaranteed to get the same coupons in the newsstand copy that you get in the home-delivered. You will get more coupons in a home-delivered paper.

Will this extend my current Star Tribune subscription?

No. This is an order for an additional subscription. If you are a current customer and order a paper through this offer you will have multiple papers delivered to your home.

How many copies of the Sunday paper should I get for its coupons?

Depends. If you are new to couponing and saving money, you may want to have multiple copies of the paper delivered to your home so that you receive multiple copies of its coupons. That way, when a product is free or just pennies after coupons, you can buy a couple of them so that you won’t ever have to pay full price again. Certainly a larger family, that consumes more, may want more copies than a smaller family.

What is considered metro area delivery and what is outstate?

Metro area prices are good for delivery within the following counties: Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, Washington and Wright in Minnesota and Pierce and St. Croix in Wisconsin.

What is an EZPay versus Pre-Paid Subscription?

An EZ Pay subscription to the paper is like an auto-renewal with an auto-payment plan. You pay a little higher price, but you are locked in at that rate. On a pre-paid subscription you are getting a lower introductory price, but will pay full price when it comes time to renew.

Carrie, what is the cost of the paper through this subscription?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

It varies depending on what you get – $1.25/wk is the introductory rate. I’ll clarify that within the post so you don’t have to find it on the order form. Sorry about that!

  2. Leann says:

Are these passes “One free with each paid adult” or is it truely “one free admission”?

  7. Mary says:

I signed up through the link and gave my credit card info to the person who called on Tuesday. But – no paper today and when I called the Strib, they had no record of anything. What’s going on?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Mary, I have your information. orders get processed weekly on Tuesdays so you missed last week’s cut off. Your order will be processed this week on Tuesday and you’ll see the paper this coming weekend or the week after, at the latest. –Carrie

    Hello Carrie,
I ordered two subscriptions of the Sunday only paper a few weeks back…..Sunday only: $1.59 per week (ONLY $6.36 every 4 weeks 13County Metro Area) I gave my CC information to you via the phone and as of today I have received 2 passes for one subscription…no charges to my card for either subscription and no paper. I talked with the gentleman from face to face and thought we had it all straight. Would you please check on this when you have a chance. I still have your number if you need me to call you I can certainly do that. Thank you so very much.
    Michele

  14. Heidi says:

So with the prepaid I would pay for a year upfront? With the EZ pay can I cancel after 4 weeks?
    Thanks,
    Heidi

  15. Amber says:

was curious if people who had multiple subscriptions got more than 2 free passes to Water Park of America….

  16. Kazz says:

Just wondering if with the prepaid subscription, are you allowed vacation hold credits (ie — if we are gone for two Sundays, can I get credit to extend the subscription for two weeks? or would they deliver the papers after we return?) Also, how long is this offer for the free water parks going on? And do you know how quickly the passes arrive? Thanks much!

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Kazz – Good questions! I have to ask on the subscription extension, but I can answer the others. I expect this deal to be going for awhile (no plans to end it that I know of), the passes should arrive within a week to 10 days of ordering and they are good through December 30, 2010.

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Kazz – I checked and you can request either a credit or an extension on your subscription if you go on vacation and have the prepaid subscription.

  17. Kim says:

Carrie-I just ordered a new subscription on the phone last week and they were going to bill me for the 52 weeks. Is there any way to get the free passes or am I too late? Thanks.

  18. Sandy says:

    Carrie
I paid for another subscription at a class in Anoka. The check has been cashed but I haven’t seen the second paper yet. It was cashed on April 20. What should I do?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Let me check on it Sandy as you should have gotten a few issues by now. Sorry that you’ve had a problem. You can expect a follow-up email in the next day or two.

  19. Jill says:

Carrie, is there an advantage to just getting the ST vs the Pioneer Press…or both or…??? Thanks!

  20. Sandy says:

Carrie, Im still waiting for my follow-up email. I still only get one paper per Sunday. Did you find out anything about my subscription?

  21. Kimberly says:

    Carrie,

I can’t get to the subscription order form through the links above. Can you please help? Thank you.

  22. Becky Widmark says:

I too have paid for 2 subscriptions and have called star tribune and they are still only delivering 1 paper. This has not been a good experience I am a little sad

  23. Deb says:

Do I fill out the subscription order form then email to star@pocketyourdollars.com or emial to you then someone will call me for my credit card info.

  24. Molly says:

    Carrie,
I’m also still only getting one paper and have not received my water park tickets. I also received a bill from the Star Tribune looking for $65 and indicating my service started mid-July.

  25. Michelle says:

Is this deal still going on?

  26. Deb says:

I took advantage of this and it worked out wonderfully. Got the waterpark passes within 1 week, and have had no problem with the paper.

    Thank you

  27. Erika says:

Just wondering how long it should take for my waterpark passes to arrive? I sent my check in several weeks ago, the paper subscription has started, but no passes.

    • Amber says:

      Erika,
I would e-mail Carrie by click the gray “Contact Us” botton in the upper right hand corner of Pocket Your Dollars. I did this deal in mid August and still hadn’t received the tickets a few weeks later so I e-mailed Carrie and she got me in touch with the person in charge of mailing the Water Park passes. I just got them today. Hope this helps!

  28. Julie says:

I ordered my subscription back in June and I never received the passes. I called Star Tribune but they didn’t know about that promotion. Who should I contact?

  29. April says:

Carrie-I have received 2 weeks of the Sunday paper now and have not gotten my waterpark passes. Do they come in the mail? Should I be concerned since most people got them within a week?
    Thanks
    April

    • Carrie Rocha says:

April – Sorry to hear you haven’t gotten them. You should have gotten them by now. I will check into this and shoot you an email that copies the third party that send the passes.

  30. JC says:

all these comments – just make me think it’s not going that smooth.
    Guess i;ll pass on it

  31. Nicole J. says:

    Hi Carrie,

Thanks for offering such a great deal!! I had a day of fun with my sisters and Mom and we had a blast, especially me knowing I saved a total of $40 in admission costs!!

My question, I ordered the ez-pay, where they charge your card as follows: “Sunday only (13 County Metro Area). $1.25 per week for 26 weeks ($32.50 total) Card charged every 4 weeks”

STrib charged my credit card five times for just four weeks of service for a total of $31.80. I understand that two of the charges are legit but they charged me on: 10/06, 10/08, 10/09, 10/13, 10/14 & 10/27. So thatd be an excess of $19.08

    How should I/we follow-up?

    Kindly

  32. pkj says:

My subscription just ended. Is this promotion still going on?

  33. Tana says:

I just called the Star Tribune last week and ordered 4 subscriptions….wish I would have waited! Or can I cancel and place a new order throught pocketyourdollars?

  34. Darren says:

Just a quick note, we started our Star Tribune subscription back in the late fall of 2010 and we are still waiting to receive the promised tickets to the waterpark of america. Personally we gave up thinking they will come, hope that not the case for everyone. Just wanted to let you know, so not sure if this offer is indeed valid.

  35. Laura Edeburn says:

Hi – I submitted my application a few days ago, but I haven’t heard from anyone. Did it come through?

  36. Laura Edeburn says:

Carrie – Yikes! I have out of town on a long weekend with my husband. I called and left a message tonight. I can try tomorrow or if anyone wants to ring me, I’ll be ready =) Sorry about that.

  37. Alaina says:

I told my friend about this great deal and she was really excited. She submitted the form and got the call where she set up her credit card info. Everything seemed to be going well until someone called her back later that night and said outstate Sunday-only papers are actually $3.00 per week, which is not reflected on this website. In addition, in her part of the state coupons are not included in the paper. :(

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Alaina – We are going to update this blog post to include a complete zip code list for the state of MN so it is clear which areas are metro, which are out-state and which don’t have delivery at all (like your friend’s), but the paper is mailed. Unfortunately, mailed papers don’t include coupons :(

  38. Jess says:

    Is this offer still available?

  39. Erika says:

Is this offer still valid? Sounds like it is until the end of 2011?

  40. Erika says:

one more question. I did this offer last spring and so my subscription should end soon. Can you let me know when that is? also, will I automatically be charged or billed after teh introductory 52 weeks or contacted by PYD or ST if I want to renew?

  41. Kris says:

Wondering if this offer is still available. I want to start couponing again and this looks great. Doesn’t look as though there has been any response iin the last few months, so I am curious.. please email me!

  42. Cheryl says:

Hi! I’m interested in the Star Tribune Subscription (Sunday only) with 2 free passes to water park of America. Do I attached the order form here?

  43. Heather says:

Carrie, the page above states that the EZ Pay Sunday only subscription is $1.69 per week, however the order form says that it is $1.59 per week…which one is correct?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Heather – Yikes! The prices went up and I thought I had changed the info everywhere sitewide, but obviously hadn’t. The EZ Pay rate in teh metro area is $1.75/week. The blog post and the order form have both been updated now. My apologies for the confusion, but I appreciate you letting me know.

      • Heather says:

Okay, thanks. :) So are the PrePaid prices are still the same? ($1.25 a week if you pay the whole year ahead)

  44. Michael says:

    Hi Carrie,

I had left a message through the “Contact” form, but haven’t heard back, so trying this route. For Outstate (in MN, but not in the 13 county “Metro area”), how will this paper be delivered? We currently get a Sunday paper delivered Sunday mornings, not through the mail carrier. Will the same hold true for this subscription?

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Michael – Sorry. I have been backlogged with email as I am working toward a deadline for a book I am writing. My apologies. Most outstate locations get home delivery via a carrier. There are a few more remote places where there are no routes and then the paper gets delivered in the mail. I’d assume it comes to your house and if that isn’t the case, we’ll let you know before we send your info on to the Star Tribune for processing.

  45. Jenn says:

    Carrie,
Just tried to go through the link to the order forms in the ‘pay by check and pay by credit card’ under the How to Order section. Was led to a page that said unavailable. I would prefer to pay by check, but either option is fine. Is there anyway to get to a working link? Thanks! Did this last year, and loved the passes!

  46. Rethinking Savings says:

Is this deal still going? I tried clicking on the links for payment options and none of the pages are found. Wanted to start a subscription and thought it would be a great deal. Please assist. Thanks!

  47. Claire says:

I’m having trouble with the Star-Tribune deal from April. They are telling me 26 week subscription is already expired. When I called, the rep couldn’t figure out why. Has anyone else received a bill?
