CVS Shopping List 4/25 – 5/1/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Are you wondering how coupon shoppers are able to spend so little on groceries and household items for their families? You might think that shopping at CVS isn’t worth your time, but this week is another example of how you can spend less on health and beauty aids so that you have more to spend on other necessities for your family. This week at CVS, you can pick up free toothbrushes and body wash, as well as deals on toothpaste, razors, baby wipes, and even a few grocery items.

If you’re new to CVS, your first step is to learn the ins and outs of the Extra Care program and learn how to read this shopping list. If you are just getting started and have questions, please leave them in the comments so we can all help you learn how to spend less.

Remember that this is a starting list of deals for the week. As readers leave comments with bargains they found at their local store, we get emails with deal ideas, or we read about other deals across the blogosphere, we will update this list. Items that are added throughout the week will be noted as NEW. Items whose final price changes as a result of a new or modified coupon scenario will be noted as UPDATED. At least once this week we will send out a reminder to come back and check this list for the hottest new deals.

  1. Alison says:

In the most recent Parents Magazine (May – page 95), there is a CVS coupon for “$3 off your next purchase of Pampers Swaddlers or Cruisers with Dry Max (Jumbo Packs and Boxes)” Those are the exact words. In the small print it says it must be used with your Extra care card. Expires 6/24/10
I assume this could be combined with the stated Pampers Deal above since it is a CVS coupon, not a manuf. coupon. This would bring the deal down to $2.49.

  2. Dawn M says:

Last time I did the Biore deal one of the products had an attachment that if you fill out a survey on the product you will recieve a 15.00 prepaid cash card.

  3. Mollie says:

Neutrogena Clinical Day Facial Lifiting Wrinkle Treatment SPF30 is $31.99

Buy one and use the $5.00 coupon and the $15.00 rebate http://www.neutrogenaclinical.com/offers

    Final price: $1.99

  4. Dawn M says:

Palmolive liquid dish soap is on sale for $0.88 and I have an older coupon for $0.75 off that expires 5/31/10. I looked on the coupon mom database and she has cpns dated 4/25 insert. It can be as little as $0.13 each. I did check the softsoap/colgate/palmolive site but it indicates the $1.00 coupon is out of prints.

  5. Dawn M says:

Thanks Mollie, a note to anyone doing that deal the rebate online is for 15.00 the one in the paper is for 10.00. To get the 15.00 rebate you need to purchase the product by 4/30. The 10.00 rebate extends to 5/31.

  6. Lisa M says:

Thank you Carrie and everyone else who contributes to this site.

I did the Biore/John Freida deal and the computer wouldn’t accept the $1.00 off any Biore product- but it did accept the $2.00/2 3d toothbrushes… Not sure what the difference is since I was using B1G1F coupons on each deal… But I got some good stuff for a great price!

I did the Olay deal yesterday (Tho the face wash was only $9.99 so I had to buy a filler $4.99 face wash in order to have enough money spent for the $20 rebate). $6.XX out of pocket after ECB and rebate… love it!

Has the Extra Care Bucks program always been this easy? I signed up for the card when CVS 1st came here, but it sounded like a hassle and I never did it. So I dont know if the program changed along the way, or if I’ve just been missing out.

    • Lisa M says:

Although the only problem I’ve had is the coupon spitter-outer. Both stores I went to, the machines wouldn’t work. At the 2nd one, we asked about it and they tried fixing it but it still wouldn’t work. She tried ringing my card with a fake item to see if she could get something to print for me, but no coupons printed.. I dont know if some days you just dont get coupons, or if because I had already scanned the card 2 times, that it already thought that I had gotten a coupon (which I did not…) ?

    • Laura Wales says:

Lisa – I’ve been going to CVS for about a year and a half now and I prefer it much, MUCH more to Walgreens because the program is so easy and ECBs don’t expire for a month. LOVE it. :)

    • Crystal says:

If it’s the same $2.00 off coupon (for the toothbrush) that I had, it’s $2.00 of one of several listings (including the ones that are on sale this week at CVS), OR two of a couple other types.

  7. Lisa s says:

I think the coupon for above palmolive soap is only on the 20/25 oz bottles??? per the coupon in the 4/25 coupon insert.

  8. rochelle says:

Got a $4 off a package of Stayfree pads from the machine. They were priced at 4.99 and I used a $1 off coupon making them free. I was hoping for the huggies coupon, but this worked too for a free item!

I found 2 Discovery Kids digital mp3 boomboxes (can hold in one hand) on clearance (normally 29.99) for 2.99. Great for presents. You can download music just like you do for ipods etc and it has a stop button (stop sign), music button, and forward/back buttons. So now my little nieces or nephews can enjoy music too on their own.

  9. Jenny says:

I bought the buy 1 get one free arm and hammer today with the $1.00 off coupon from the paper. The bottles were the smaller ones but it wound up being $5.99 total for two bottles of detergent.

  10. marie says:

    Rochelle,
What CVS did you find them at?

  11. ERIN says:

There are no more prints for Tresemme hair care-2/1.

  12. Shauna says:

I think the coupon spitter outer prints out fairly unique coupons for ea customer. I’m sure their systems are learning about ea individual cardholder and targeting us. I got one for gift wrap which seems odd to me. Maybe some of them are random? Got some others, too, but none that any of you here have mentioned getting.

    • Crystal says:

I think they are mostly random. I tend to usually get the ones that I don’t care about and never the $$/$$ that people sometimes mention. Although I did get a $5/40. Thought I would never spend that much in a single transaction, but then this awesome week came along and I ended up doing it pretty easily.

  13. Crystal says:

A couple things…first off, it’s a FABULOUS week at CVS! I got a $5/$40 purchase coupon from the coupon machine and I was actually able to USE it this week! I couldn’t believe it! My total before coupons/ecb’s was over $50. After coupons and $11.48 ecb’s, I only paid $3.91. Pretty exciting.

Also, I found clearance toothbrushes. It’s the CrossAction Vitalizer Plus, was $5.47, clearanced for $1.37. This works with the $2.00 off coupon from the P&G, resulting in FREE plus overage. (This was a funny coupon that said it was $2.00 off several kinds or 2 of some manual something, but CrossAction was listed in the first list that said it was $2 off the purchase of one).

    Anyway, thought I’d share.

  14. Diane says:

I’m curious as to what you think of the Avatar DVD deal with a $25 purchase of selected products. Is this a good deal or is the price for the products too high? I am looking for the movie, so it would be a good find for me if it makes sense.

    • Crystal says:

Everyone has their own opinion about what would make it a good deal. For me, personally, in order for it to be a good enough deal it would have to be an OOP really close to what I would already be willing to pay for the movie. If it’s $20 at Wal-Mart and you want the movie anyway and would pay $20, then I would aim for an OOP of no more than that after coupons/ecb’s at CVS.

I know there are $1 off coupons for wheat thins and fig newtons, and an older $2 off coupon for All, so that would be some money off your total, and if you have a $5/$40 or $4/20 coupon then that would be off your total. I’ve seen a couple scenarios for people who spent around $10 out of pocket (including the $5 for the movie).

So, if you have ecb’s available and/or your family will use the items anyway then it could definitely be worth it.

  15. Jill B says:

I used a nutri- serum 1.00/1 coupon for the softsoap deal(says any softsoap product in Fine print) maybe someone knows where it came from? AS or RP? next time I’ll note where! :)

    • Crystal says:

I had nutri-serum cpn from the march all you but it expired 3/31. not sure where another one came from since I’ve seen many many match up lists and no one has mentioned it.

  16. Shauna says:

Crystal, I got the $5 off $45 today, too, but will not be using it. Last wk I got $5 after 20 or 25. Sure did use that one.

Laura, you are so right about CVS vs. Walgreens. It has to be a screaming deal at Wags for me to brave it. They try to make it hard, IMO, while CVS tries to make it easy. Anyone else see the CVS commercial with the old lady kissing the coupon spitter outer? :)

While picking up the Renpure, I found Try Me Free hangtangs on Organix shampoo and conditioner, free after mail in rebate. So one conditioner, one shampoo for the cost of stamp and envelope each.

On the CVS sunblock, the cheapest products I could find that were included (that had the ECB tags below) was $6.49 ea.

    • Laura Wales says:

Shauna – I bought the smallest size CVS brand sunscreens yesterday (2oz) and got the $5 ECB. The price of the sunscreens wasn’t even listed, but they still worked for the deal.

    • Crystal says:

Mine was cleared out of the 2 oz. My store was directed to remove them from the shelves. Our coupon machine has been broken now.

I never thought I would use a $5/$45 either, but when I can do it with only $3.91 OOP, I’m going for it! lol. I actually could have broken it up even (since my total was almost $50), but my hubby was waiting in the car w/ the babies and I already had a ton of items and a ton of coupons. And, I was using a gift card from a transferred script anyway, so it was technically free and I wasn’t going to worry about that little bit.

  17. gigi says:

Neutrogena clinical is 39.99 at the CVS on HWY 55 in plymouth.

  18. Jen says:

Got a great deal at CVS today. Went to buy the Arm and Hammer laundry detergent (buy one get one free 50oz) and the lady at the register let me use the $4 off coupon pack that was attached to the top of the laundry soap container. I questioned it because the coupons were for other Arm and Hammer products but she said “It never hurts to try them.” They all rang up so she let me use them…….Needless to say I stocked up when I found out that I would get 2, 50oz containers for $3.99!!! Not sure if anyone else would have this same luck but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

  19. Jen says:

Actually the 2 detergents were only $2.99!!! Sorry about my math :)

  20. ty says:

How often can you get coupons out of the sitter-outter thing? 1 per day or something?

  21. ART says:

I bought the Arm and Hammer detergent. It is $6.99 for the first bottle of detergent.
