Walgreens Shopping List 3/7 – 3/13/10

Coupon deals, without Register Rewards are hot this week, including free Prevacid 24HR and Reach toothbrushes. That’s good since the Register Reward deals seem pretty ho-hum.

If you’re new to all of this, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list.

Helpful hint: Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2 for $4” usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.

Your turn: What other deals did you find at Walgreens?

no huggies pull ups at woodbury on queens ave. as of saturday the 6th

  2. Dawn M

What is the Parade Magazine? Sorry not familiar with that one?
    Thanks,

  3. Dawn M

Ignore that last question. I don’t look at that part of the paper but will this time.

  4. Lori

The oil of olay refund would requiring purchasing 4 of the body wash in order to get the 15.00 purchase price requirement for the rebate.

    1. Erin Rose

I think the rebate just says buy 3 Olay products to receive the $15 MIR.

  5. Wren

L’oreal Go 360 Clean face cleanser (regularly 6.99) is in the ad this week for 2.00 off. But in the store they have the deep exfoliating scrub marked at 3.99 (but rang up at 4.99 the casher adjusted price) and the deep facial cleanser wasn’t marked but rang up at 3.99. Use with the coupon from 1-3 RP #2 insert for 2.00 making them 1.99 each.

Nestle candy bars (regularly 2 for 1.59) are on sale with the coupon from the ad for .49 each. Buy 2 Nestle Crunch Bars and use the coupon from the 3-7 SS insert for buy one get one free. The SS coupon will take off .79 and the store coupon will take off .60 making them .20 for 2.

Does anyone know the policy for clearance + coupons – not a huge deal, but I was at my Walgreens last night and noticed they had some chapstick in the clearance bins that I also had coupons for – but the cashier wouldn’t honor my coupon? Is this a policy thing – I noticed they also had a bunch of the Gillette shampoo that there was coupons for in todays paper – was it just a crabby cashier or a store policy?

    Thanks for any help.

    1. Angela

If the coupon doesn’t exclude the item that the store is clearancing out then the store should accept the coupon. Think of the coupon as another form of payment (i.e cash, check, credit card or coupon!)

    2. Lynda

Jessica–I also saw the chapstick on clearance and asked what their policy was on using coupons in conjuction with the clearance price and was told that it was okay to do so. I had no problems using the coupons during checkout. You must have just gotten a crabby cashier.

  7. Amy

Also select Post cereal was on sale for $1.75. I bought 4 boxes and used 2 $1/2boxes coupons from a previous coupon insert. When I checked out I got a $3 RR for buying the cereal. So if you figure in the RR it is like paying 50 cents a box.

  8. Angie

I bought 2 olay’s the other week and I am going to buy one this week with different coupons. I want to get the $15 MIR but I also need the receipts for the spend $50 get $100 in coupons- do they accept copied receipts?

    1. Lisa

In my past exp, companies have been pretty good about allowing me to use photocopied receipts when I need them for two different rebates through their company. I note on the photocopy “used original for xxyy rebate”, enclose a copy of that rebate that I sent and then I’ve never had a problem getting the check back.

I’ve never tried this with two different companies because I can understand why they wouldn’t be able to allow it. Again my scenario has always been the same company.

Ideally I’d remember and ask for a reprint of a receipt, but that generally slips my mind.

  9. erica e

Angie–i have too run into this problem. But both rebates require original receipts. So if I remeber I will purchase olay separate from the other items.

Prints for the Kraft macaroni and cheese are gone

  12. Angela II

There is a coupon for $6 off on prevacid24hr.com and when I went to buy the product tonight it rang up as $21.99 and the in-add coupon deduction $2 at the end of the receipt so I suspect the rebate will reimburse me $17.99.

The Dr. Scholl’s massaging gel insoles all had save $2 now coupons on the outside of the packages.

The last deal that probably not a lot of people will take advantage of: The Strap Perfect is Buy one @$9.99 get one free and there are $1.50 off coupons in the 12/13 RR, 1/10 RR & 2/14 RR. Making the final transaction $6.99 for 2 or $3.50 each.

    1. Laura Wales

      Angela, thanks for the information!

      1. Angela II

The insole had the save $2 now coupons and they were $11.49. I didn’t see the coupons on the heel insoles. Sorry about that.

        1. Angela II

On the strap perfect I was using 2- $1.50 coupons to get to the $6.99 price for two.

    2. Chrissy

Where is the in-ad coupon for the Dr. Scholl’s, am I missing it?

      1. Laura Wales

Chrissy – It’s in the ad, but if you want, you can print your own coupon by going here and clicking “Click for Printable Coupon.”

  13. Angela II

It’s one of those As seen on TV products that ladies use to hide their bra straps when wearing tank tops. There is a picture in the weekly ad. :o)

    1. Kristi

dollar tree sells something like those, says seen on tv.

  14. Kristin

I did find the Huggies Cool Alert pull ups at my Walgreens, but they are now out. They were actually $2.89 a piece. My guess is you may still be able to find them at some Walgreens but they will be out soon.

  15. M

For the John Frieda Shampoo deal (use $2 from the Walgreen coupon book and $3 from the Smartsource insert) the cashier was unable to deduct both coupons . .she tried it both ways, using the mfr coupon first, then store coupon and vice versa with no success.

    1. Jennifer M.

M ~ Was the size on both coupons a match for the sale? If it was, the cashier should have called a manager over to override so you could use them. : o ( I love JF and was planning on stocking up with this deal and if the coupons both have the correct size, I think I will have the manager get involved if it doesn’t work for me.

  16. Katherine

I am wondering if all WAGS are giving out RR for the Post cereals? I see it’s not advertised as a RR deal so I just want to make sure I’ll get the deal when I get there.

    1. Nellie

I got the cereal yesterday and there was no sign for the RR but received $3 RR

      1. Kim

I tried this today and did NOT get the $3RR…bummer.

        1. AIMEE

I TRIED THIS AT THE ANOKA WAGS AND DIDN’T GET THE RR :( WHERE DOES IT SAY WE GET RR, BECAUSE THE AD DOESN’T STATE IT AND THE MGR WOULDN’T GIVE THEM TO ME. HUGE BUMMER!

  17. Katherine

Also, If you use the Natural Instincts Hair Color in-ad coupon, plus the $5/1 and $1/1 coupons from the 3/7 PG insert, you can get a pretty good deal on that product!

  18. M

In regards to the John Frieda deal . . yes the sizes matched up. . . I DO love the deals I get at Walgreens, but using both coupons didn’t work. ..I also tried a deal earlier in the day to use my $3 register rewards (from Crest deal) along with a $1 Mfr coupon for L’Oreal mascara . .the cashier didn’t have any luck using both coupons for me in that case either. She also tried using Mfr coupon first and then Register Rewards . .and then Vice Versa, didn’t work either way. I’d hate to have to call the mgr each time this happens. . I think it’d freak out the young cashiers.

    1. JoannaV

I’m curious if you needed to use a filler item? If you have more MQs than items, you need a filler item.

    2. Erika

I haven’t tried the John Frieda deal myself yet, but I wonder if people are having problems because the coupon out of the March book says it is a “Manufacturer coupon good only at Walgreens”. If it is in fact a MQ, then you wouldn’t be able to use that one along with the SS one.

  19. Stacy

The Clairol Natural Instincts coupon in the 3/7 insert is actually $5/2. Using the ad coupon for $5.99 each the total will be $6.98 for two boxes when combining the two coupons. Still not too bad!

  20. Sarah Beth

Oral B, Crest, and Glide all qualify for the “Thank You Mom” P&G deal so save your receipts!

  21. steve

Reach/Listerine: $1/1 coupon from the 1/3 Red Plum #2 insert

Please notice that these coupons are for a larger size. It cannot be used on this item in ad.

  22. Lisa

The Walgreens coupon for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese has a limit of three. The mfg coupon requires you to purchase five boxes. Is there an honest way to make this work?

    1. Barb

You can still buy 5 of them. I have done it before, and they even still ring up at the sale price. The cashiers acknowledged that even though there is a limit, it is not a problem.

  23. Angela

I can not find the Renpure shampoo in the store.

    1. Nellie

At my store it was not with the other shampoos, it was on a small rack attached to an end cap. I found it only by accident.

  24. Nellie

I have a question- Do most walgreens have a clearance section or are the clearanced items in with their own items?

    1. Karie

Cambridge Wags has a Clearance section currently that’s in the back of the Toy aisle…. lots of Revlon and some Loreal make-up items + other misc. items.

  25. amy

    Lisa,
I spoke to an avid coupon shopper at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago. I expressed the same concern to her. She said that even if you buy more than the limited amount Walgreens still gives you the sale price. I tried it on a product that same day and found she was correct. The limit was 3, I bought 5 (to use my coupon) and they all rang at the sale price.

    1. Traci

Maybe they put that limit on there so other can get the product as well.

  26. amy

    Angela,
I have found the Renpure at CVS with the rebate form attached to the bottle over at CVS in recent weeks.

  27. Paulette

the lifesaver coupon is not showing up for me… any ideas?

  28. Maryellen

The Olay rebate says items must be purchased “By” March 12.

  29. Wendy

Just FYI, the Reach toothbrush, Reach floss, Listerine 3/$8 sale has a coupon on the last page of the WAG flyer. If you purchase (3) of the items, you get them 3/$3.99 with the WAG coupon. I also used the $1.00 off floss and toothbrush coupons from Sunday’s paper.

  30. Nancy

You can not use more coupons than you have items at Walgreens; & that includes the Register Rewards since they are manufacturer coupons…..12 coupons for 11 items won’t work.

  31. Jodi

    Wendy -
Thank you for pointing out where the Reach/Listerine coupon is!! I had been searching my WAG flyer and overlooking it. Do you think that I can use my BOGO coupon on the Reach toothbrushes?

  32. Holly

No huggies cool alert at Shakopee WG… anyone have any luck anywhere else in the southwest burbs?

  33. Nikki

Dawn dish soap is on sale this week for .99 cents for a 10.3 ounce bottle. Use the P&G .25 cent off coupon for dawn and get the dish soap for about .75 cents. I thought this was a pretty good deal and I needed some dish soap… so I snatched it up!
Also, I did the Renpure Shampoo and Conditioner deal. All the shampoos and conditioners at the Hopkins Walgreens (by the knollwood mall) have the rebates. I got the shampoo and conditioner for free after BOGO and Rebate (14.00 value).
    Just thought I would share.

  34. Brenda P

I was able to use the Reach 3/$3.99 deal (with Walgreen’s coupon) twice (two separate shopping trips) to get 6 rolls of the Reach Total Care floss for just the prices of the sales tax. I used the store coupon, a Reach B1G1F coupon (worth $3) and the 1/$1 coupon from this past Sunday’s flyer. Quite a deal!

Also I noticed a “coupon fairy” left quite a few coupons taped onto sale items throughout the store. I was inspired and added a few as well.

  35. Penny

don’t ya just love it when the coupon fairy shows up.:)

  36. Nancy

Sometimes the sales people put coupons on their merchandise & sometimes the staff does.
One of the Walgreens where I shop used to cut the coupons out of the Sunday newspapers that were left over & had a basket of them that you could help yourself to.
Unfortunately they don’t do that anymore.

    1. Sarah Beth

My Walgreens still does this – but I wonder if they are actually using the “leftover” coupons. One week I went in to buy a paper and there were no coupons inside any of them.

  37. Rhonda

Use your Oral B, Buy One Get One Free Coupon from Sunday’s paper, they are 3/$8, but if you use your B1G1 you only pay for 2 and get a $3 RR. I had to use up some RR’s so I did this so they didn’t expire and I received another RR to roll into next week!!!

  38. Mary

Is it only one Renpure rebate per household? I do not see any limitations on the rebate form itself. Does anyone know?

  39. Nancy

I was told yesterday by a Walgreens manager (in Roseville) that the coupons in the Walgreens coupon book that you pick up in their stores are “manufacturers’ coupons that can only be used at Walgreens”. And that some of the coupons in their ads are also manufacturers’ coupons. They all have a “W” on them which makes them look like a store coupon. So — that means that you can’t use another manufacturers’ coupon with them. I tried it — didn’t work.

  40. Nikki

So, I am not sure if this would work but if it does it is a really good deal! Today in the mail I got my crest whitestrips sample and it included a 10 $ Manufacturer coupon. Then Walgreens had a coupon in their insert for a 10$ Wag coupon for the Crest Whitestrips and then P&G also put out a 7$ off coupon this week. If you can use three coupons (???) then it would be 27$ off… a FANTASTIC deal! They have one product at 44 dollars but they also have one that is about 33. I think the coupons would work for both. Anyway, thought I would put this out there… not sure what you think?

    1. Nellie

I am guessing that you can only use the in add $10 off walgreen coupon and only one of the manufactures coupons $10 or $7. Thats how it usually works.

  41. Susan

    Can’t find the Lifesaver’s coupon.

  42. Susan

Just found the Lifesavers coupon. It is not available through the link posted here. It is on coupons.com website.

    1. Lisa

THANK YOU!! I was looking for that too! YUM!

  43. Levy

prevacid is only $19.97 at target plus you get $6 catalina.so i think it’s a better deal at target
