Walgreens Shopping List 3/14 – 3/20/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

Looks like you can get Colgate toothpaste and Band-Aid or Neosporin products for free after Register Rewards this week. Be sure to check out the coupon deals to get free Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (yum!) and Excedrin Migraine, too.

Also, receive a coupon for $3 off your next $15 purchase when you donate $1 to Jerry’s Kids – MDA this month.

If you’re new to all of this, then learn how the Register Rewards program works and learn how to read this shopping list.

Helpful hint: Walgreens is the one store where an advertised sale like “2 for $4” usually requires you to buy two products. The first one rings at full price and the second product will ring at a lesser price to bring the total to $4, using our example. If you ever question whether you need to buy two to receive a sale price, ask the cashier to scan one item for you. If it rings at full price, then you know you need to buy two products. If it rings at the sale price, then you don’t.

Your turn: What other deals did you find at Walgreens?

Comments

  1. Becky says:

How would the deal #1 work with the band-aids and neosporin? Wouldn’t you have to buy 2 Neosporin in order to use the $3/2 coupon? Still a great deal after RR, but just curious if I was reading it wrong.

    • Nellie says:

Becky- I beleive that the $3/2 coupon is for when you buy neosporin and bandaid. If that is the one she is refering to. hope that helps

  2. Kara K says:

Purex: I see a BOGO Walgreens coupon in the flyer, and we got a BOGO coupon on 2/28. I already used mine a couple weeks ago and got 6 for free, it looks like they put a limit on it this week of 4! But, I believe that would work out to be a free deal.

    • Kara K says:

Correction, I was talking with a friend about this deal and she pointed out that the manufacturer coupon had expired! Sorry…

    • Jaime N says:

      (3/14 entry)
      Kara,
Im new to couponing at walgreens. to get you 6 purex’s free, did you buy 3 get 3 free from walgreens and then the 3 coupons for free? or are you able to get 3 on one coupon? Sorry can you explain how you got 3 free. Thanks Jaime

      • Laura Wales says:

Jaime – To get 6 Purex’s free, I’m sure Kara had to use three “buy one, get one free” coupons from the coupon insert and just one coupon from the Walgreens flyer. That’s the beauty of Walgreens store coupons – you don’t have to clip multiple coupons to use them on multiple products, you can just clip one and it will automatically apply to all of the products that fit that coupon. Does that make sense?

  3. Gigi says:

Colgate Total coupon $1 off- 3/7 Smartsource (exp 3/27)

  4. Barbara says:

Dr. Scholl gel inserts deal does not work on insoles priced at $6.99. Tried at several Walgreen location in St. Paul. Register will not accept.

  5. Angela II says:

Carrie or Laura- Have you seen the Walgreen’s Children’s activity books in the Walgreens that you shop at? I have not been successful in finding them and I shop at the same stores (I live in the area too)

I get so frustrated when I see deals for stuff I can use, but they need the coupons from the children’s activity book to work. :o)

    • Jane says:

I was told at the Roger’s location that they do not have any more ~ flew out the door when they arrived. Anyone find any recently (in the past month)?

    • Laura Wales says:

Angela, I’ve purchased two activity books over the past six months at my closest Walgreens in Maple Grove. Sometimes they have them, sometimes they don’t. I get frustrated, too, when I can’t find other coupon booklets like the “Healthy Savings” booklet (or whatever it was called) a few months ago. It’s really hit or miss. I don’t think I’ve ever found a Walgreens that has all the special coupon booklets.

      • Angela says:

Do you know if this activity book is an on going deal at Walgreens (i.e similar to the monthly coupon book by the doors when you first walk in?) Once the current activity book coupons expire will there be a new one issued?

    • Sarah Beth says:

The “current” Walgreens Children’s Activity Book coupons all expire April 1st I believe. No sign of a new one yet – so the frustrations won’t last much longer :o)

  6. debster says:

Am I blind? Under the Dr. Scholl’s listing, I see “Use the $3/1 in-ad coupon (will deduct $9)” and I have looked at the ad several times and don’t see the in-ad coupon……i’ce looked in the March book and there is a $2.00 off Dr. Scholl’s (but not the gel pad thingys).

    • Kristi says:

probably that little book of monthly coupons when you walk in the door.

    • Michelle says:

Oh, this coupon was in last weeks ad, not this week. You can only use the printable coupons or the coupon peelies found on the products.

  7. Tanya says:

The Band-aid deal did not exactly work out for me. The Children’s Activity Book BandAid coupon is for the character BandAids and they are not included on the deal. You could buy two Neosporin and one regular BandAid, use the $3/2 Neosporin/BandAid coupon and $1/1 Neosporin coupon from 1/3 RP along with the Children’s Activity Book Neosporin coupon. I believe your total OOP would be $3 and then get $3 in RR which is still free just not better than free.

  8. Dawn M says:

I have tried Several Walgreens in Blaine/Coon Rapids area and they have not had them either. One didn’t even know what I was talking about? Others said they haven’t had them in months.

  9. Melissa says:

Went to Walgreens in Crystal today. I asked about the donate $1.00 to Jerry’s kids MDA get a coupon and they said they are not collecting any donations. Did anyone find this deal?

  10. Teresa says:

Bought the Colgate toothpaste. The store had no signs indicating sale. It rang up on sale at $3.99 but did not shoot out a RR. Sigh. I had to fill out a form & they are mailing the RR to me. You might want to watch to make sure your’s prints out.

    • Laura Wales says:

Teresa – Bummer! That’s frustrating when the stores don’t have the signs up. This is why I always grab a Walgreens ad when I come in to the store so I can show them the deal in the ad (in this case, the Colgate deal is on the back page). Sometimes the manager has just given me a gift card in place of the Register Reward, which works for me because gift cards don’t expire!

  11. Angela says:

This deal should work at walgreens this week

Purchase the Prevacid 24 hr (42ct) for $25.99 (in ad coupon) also use the $10 off coupon from 3/14 SS – OOT $15.99 submit the refund form from the parade magazine from a couple weeks ago and you should get $21.99 ($25.99-$4.00 per refurn form), netting $6 after refund.

    • jo says:

I bought Prevacid for $25.99, used $10/1 Q and my $10 RR from Dr Scholls and $4 RR from Colgate Total for net OOP $1.99. Then will receive rebate for $21.99.

      • Angela says:

Prevacid 42 ct is regularly $25.99 at Target too so this deal will work at Target too.

Single package of chapstick is also regualrly priced $.99 at Target so the $1/3 coupon deal is the same at Target.

  12. shannon says:

I cant see how the exedrin deal adds up. The walgreens coup says one coupon per customer per offer so I would think that means it would only give you $2 off. The printable is $1/1 so you would still pay .99 for the two bottles. Right?

    • shannon says:

actually $1.99 for two bottles my math was still off.

      • Sue says:

Even though the Walgreens coupons say “Limit one per customer”, it will still take off the coupon amount for however many you buy. So Carrie’s saying since you’re buying 2 it will take $4.00 off, which it will in my experience.
But the only $2 off Excedrin coupon I see in the booklet is for Menstrual Complete, and the $1.00 printable is for Migraine, so they won’t work together.

        • Barb says:

I found the same issue, but when comparing the menstrual releif active ingredients to the migraine relief, note that they are the same. I purchased the menstrual relief and got the deal.

        • SHANNON says:

You can buy one of each kind and then you would get the $2.00 off from walgreens and the $1 off man coup. You would then pay $1.99. Or if the $2 really gives you $4 off then you could get two bottles of that and just pay .99 for the two.

  13. Christy says:

Walgreens has a coupon for Clear Care contact solution, $5 off a 2 pack, plus there’s a $3 off in the 3/14 smartsource – that’s cheap contact solution! I hope they will take both coupons…

  14. Angela says:

go out to Hawaiian Troic’s website you can print $1 off coupon (2 per computer) so:
buy 3 Hawaiian Trpoic lotions for $20.97 ($6.99×3), use 3-$1 off coupons, spend $17.97 get $8 RR, equals $3.33 per bottle.

You can also get $1 off coupons on Coppertone’s website for the Coppertone deal. $9.99-less $1coupon=8.99-$2 RR final cost $6.99

or will it be better to hold off on buying sun screen because of better deals more into spring?

  15. Jerra says:

The Excedrin coupon in the Walgreens coupon booklet is just for the Excedrin Menstrual Relief, which are buy one for $5.49, get one free. The printable coupon mentioned doesn’t work with it however, since it’s for Excedrin Migraine. It’s still a good deal if you pick up the Excedrin Menstrual Relief, and use the coupons from the booklet. It ends up being $1.49 for 2 packages.

  16. Carmen says:

If anyone needs cheap makeup this is a good week to do it. Revlon sosmetics and beauty tools are 40% off and there are $2.00 manufacturer coupons out there for the cosmetics, in fact my cosmetic counter checkout person had some she let me use. If you spend $10.00 you get a $5.00 coupon good towards Revlon costmetics or beauty tools only. I believe when you use the $5.00 coupon you can ONLY use the $5.00 coupon and no other coupons. I am going to get 2 beauty tools with it, so I purchased 2 eye shadows ($4.99 before 40% off), 1 eyeliner pencil (priced at $7.99 before 40% off) and 2 beauty tools for around $5.00 total plus tax.

  17. sally says:

I took a pic’ to my walgreens a few months ago of the activity book & he knew nothing about it so, I bought one on ebay. The gal that sold it to me was in Las Vegas. I live in Mn. It must be regional. Are they going to have the other coupon books like the Diabetes & You? Does anyone know when they come out? The last one expired in Jan.

  18. Jean says:

Another “freebie” at Walgreens (with mail-in rebate); “Try Me Free” rebate forms at the cosmetic counter for rebate up to $6.99 for any Renpure Organics Product. I only saw the shampoo & it was selling for $6.99.

  19. Jess says:

Is anyone having trouble printing Zyrtec?

  20. Jennifer M. says:

I did the Playtex tampons RR deal today. It is $6.99 for 36 count, get a $2 RR plus I used the $1 Q from Smart Source website, so it ends up at .11 per tampon. My target it about .10 per tampon, but I have gotten them for less. I stopped at the Maple Grove store, but ended up also stopping at the Rogers store because MG was out of a few of the items I was looking for. The MG store generated a catalina for FREE Tampax Pearl tampons (up to $5 value) and the Rogers store generated a catalina for FREE Always Dri-Liners. My so-so deal came out very nicely! I love it when that happens!!!

  21. Jennifer M. says:

Oops ~ forgot to add that the Always catalina was also up to $5 value.

  22. Jan says:

I found a non-expired Bic Stationery Products coupon for $1.00 off 2 in the September 2009 SS. Should be able to stack it with the Wags Bic Brightliners for .49 cents. A money maker!

  23. Susan says:

I believe that the coupon for the Hershey’s candy is in the Red Plum 3/14 and not the SS 3/14 as was posted.
Does anyone know of other Hershey coupons to take advantage of the Cadbury Eggs? Thanks in advance!

  24. Liz says:

My local CVS store said that they take manufacturer’s coupons 3 months after expiration date. Does anyone know if Walgreens has a similar policy on accepting expired coupons? Thanks! :)

    • Jennifer M. says:

Liz ~ I actually just asked this at Walgreen’s in Elk River last night as I had a coupon for a raincheck item from last week that expired on 3/12. Since it was still valid when I had tried to buy the sale product I thought I would give it a shot. The cashier told me they couldn’t take them because they “won’t get reimbursed for expired coupons.” I wondered to myself if they send them in on a daily basis, rather than weekly or monthly basis! But, oh well, if that’s their policy then I can just wait for the opportunity to hopefully use that coupon at Cub. HTH.

  25. Rhonda Kemp says:

Can someone tell me how to get the Prevacid rebate form? Thanks.

  26. Dawn M says:

The benadryl coupon has no prints available.

  27. Lisa says:

Dawn, there are other high-value Benadryl coupons at http://www.benadryl.com/#/coupons.

  28. christy says:

I did the double coupon deal for the Clear Care contact solution and it worked! It was like getting one free. However, they would not let me use the Reeces coupon because the egg was on sale for 0.39 and the coupon was over that value and she wouldn’t take it. :(

  29. Amy M says:

The Clear Care double pack at the Walgreen’s on 49th & France (Edina) was $16.99. I used the Wags $5 coupon plus the $3/1 coupon. It’s a great deal.

  30. Teresa says:

One of my boxes of Benadryl had a little coupon packet taped to the front…that included a coupon for a (send away) free first aid kit w/ proof of 3 purchased items (Benadryl, Neosporin and some other brands). I had two Benadryl from this deal…and Neosporin from a couple months back.
