Update: Entries for the ticket lottery are no longer being accepted.
It’s here! Registration for a ticket lottery to the Meet & Greet event on March 30 is now open. Pocket Your Dollars is hosting its first ever Meet & Greet event on Tuesday, March 30. It’ll be held in Brooklyn Park, MN from 7pm-9pm. The evening’s agenda is jam packed with fun, inspiration and free stuff!
The Evening’s Agenda
— An opportunity to meet Carrie and Laura, plus a few other folks that work behind the scenes to make Pocket Your Dollars happen. I’m still working on lining up some special guests too.
— An inspiring message about the power of giving back and taking your eyes off yourself.
— Ideas for saving on groceries without using coupons. If not for you, this is great info for your loved ones that won’t do coupons, but are spending too much.
— You’ll get in on the ground floor of some exciting new things that are coming to Pocket Your Dollars.
— Everyone will get some free gifts and some lucky folks will win prizes.
Space is limited so we are giving out tickets to the event via a lottery. You can register for a chance to win up to 2 tickets. We promise that you’ll have a chance to meet some new people, so no fear that you can’t bring all your friends along. Here’s how to enter for a chance to win tickets:
— Complete this registration form including a valid email and indicate whether you’d want 1 or 2 tickets if you are chosen.
Entries for the ticket lottery will be accepted through 11:59 pm CST on Tuesday, March 9. Limit one entry per HOUSEHOLD. Winners will be selected at random and notified via email. Winners will have 24 hours to confirm their availability or another winner will be chosen.
Attention Business Owners
Do you want to promote your business through Pocket Your Dollars? Here’s how: we are putting together goody bags for every attendee and larger door prizes. If you have something you’d like to give away, please let us know. We aren’t interested in just having your marketing flyers, but awesome, high-value coupons, freebies and other swag, plus door prizes. Please email meetandgreet@pocketyourdollars.com if you are interested in participating. Include specific details of what you have to offer and how we would go about picking it up/having it delivered. We will invite those businesses that interest us to participate.
Good luck and we look forward to meeting some of you soon!
P.S. – If this event is a success, then we hope to do it again and do it in other places.

Monday is March 29th……..so is it on Monday or is it on Tuesday, March 30th?
Oops, sorry for the confusion! It’s Tuesday. I’ll update the post.
Laura saves the day! I wrote this post early this morning after less than 5 hours of sleep and a broken coffee maker. Clearly my head was foggy :) It is Tuesday the 30th. I’m looking forward to it!
Thank you!! I really hope to be able to come and meet you! It’d be great to finally meet who I’m telling all of my friends about! You have quite the following here in little St. Francis!
I can’t wait….hope i’m picked;
love watching you on TCL every Tuesday, I read your blog every day…(I promise, i’m not a stalker!!)
Been looking forward to this opportunity, hope I am picked. I can not believe how you have changed my view on shopping and saving! Your integrity is award winning! High five!
I’ve been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to enter all week! Hope I’m picked!
I would love to go… I really hope I am picked!
I have entered, I hoped I am picked… Cannot wait to meet you!
I hope that there will be other meet and greet opportunities. Would like to register but I work that evening. So, I couldn’t go if I won. Have fun.
I check e-mail daily, and I signed up using my primary e-mail, not my “spam” e-mail address. There’s little chance I’ll miss the 24-hour window when I receive the e-mail asking to confirm the invitation I am confident I will win, but nonetheless, when will this drawing take place/notifications be sent?
Carrie, would love to be chosen to attend, I need to learn how to make a few dollars streach.
Well I registered. Good Luck to All!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fingers are crossed!!
What date will you be notifying people if they won?
This would be good for people to know so they can keep an eye on their email
Linda – It’ll be late next week (if all goes as planned) and I’ll post an article on the main site telling people that they shoudl watch their email.
I hope I get lucky. I love your blog and seeing you on TCL. thanks so much. crossing my fingers that I am a winner.
Is this the only way to attend or can you purchase tickets???
Michelle – This is the only way to attend.
Great idea guys! Looking forward to some people who are like-minded. My friends and family are getting sick of my ramblings about the coupons. I know you guys won’t roll your eyes at me!
I have the same problem!
I hope to attend the next one you have – this is our spring break week and we’ll be out of town. Bummer!
“We aren’t interested in just having your marketing flyers, but awesome, high-value coupons, freebies and other swag, plus door prizes.”
This sounds greedy. I would be happy for anything that a business is willing to offer…even a small value coupon if it meant me saving money.
Have you really gotten yourself so big that you forgot about the little people?
Wow! Considering that this site posts money saving shopping lists and deals daily FOR FREE to benefit little people like you and me, I would say your post is totally off base. There are plenty of small value coupons and deals out there for businesses and products big and small. This is a sepcial event, and I am sure the organizers wanted special give-aways for all the loyal followers to entice participation. Why attend something that’s free (while the organizers are paying for rental space, etc.) when you can find what’s offered elsewhere without traveling to a seminar?
If you don’t care for the approach, find one you do. Throwing rocks never benefits anyone, including the thrower.
Wow Sharon…what a nasty post! Your either part of the solution or the problem. PYD is a wonderful site and Carrie is working very hard to bring it to as many people as possible…sharing what she’s learned and now working to expand and teach even more…your need to attack Carrie makes me wonder why you are jealous…and angry?
We are all very respectful on this site…we help each other…if you can’t be respectful I would suggest you find a different site.By the way…did you happen to read Carrie’s 2010 goals? Always good to be informed before you speak.
I know that registration was closed – but I would love to be on a waiting list!
You’ve probably already thought about this. Have you considered collecting food or other items at your meet and greet for the foodshelves or one of the women’s shelters?
Angela – That is part of what we are going to do. A big huge food drive. More details to come…
I had no doubt! Thanks!
Would be interested in coming, but missed the registration…rats!!!!
Penny-
I actually agree with Sharon’s post. How is it disrespectul to offer some constructive criticism? I think if Carrie wants to continue to improve PYD, she needs to have some honest opinions (not just praises). And I’m not so sure you are very well-informed (I mean no offense, but don’t tell somebody else that they should be well-informed before they speak when you do the same). To get to the top, you need to take the good with the bad…that is how business goes. This has turned into a business for Carrie.
Don’t get me wrong, PYD is a wonderful site with a lot of good ideas. And yes, Carrie works very hard and we all benefit. However, there are a lot of other sites that do similar things and a lot of local bloggers who work very hard (and don’t make any money off of it like PYD does). PYD doesn’t seem very interested in letting anybody else get credit for what they give unless they are a sponsor for her.
I think it appears that everybody is nice and polite and gushing about Carrie because the posts are all monitored and revised/approved before they go public. If PYD keeps up at this rate, they will be too big to monitor all the comments and you will see what really comes through. I’ve noticed here and on Facebook that those who try to promote their blogs/sites (which also link/promote PYD) or to write constructive comments are taken down or reported.
Sharon has a right to her opinion. Carrie has gotten this far because of readers and businesses and she shouldn’t forget it. She posts every so often about taking the attention off of yourself, but I don’t think she does that very often. So for her to tell companies that she isn’t interested in them passing out flyers, but it’s ok to bring coupons for everybody, is using them. Just as she wants to benefit for herself from the readers/companies, those companies want to benefit from her and the readers too. It is one big business circle.
Carrie can run this site however she wants to, but you should be aware that with that comes deception to the reader.
I’m sure this will be viewed as a negative post, and I don’t mean it to be, and I’d be surprised if it gets posted. I love PYD, but let’s be honest about everything.
BTM and all – I am often accused of not allowing negative comments or competitor’s comments. I wodner where that comes from because that isn’t my position at all. This thread alone shows that’s not true. Idon’t mind dissenting opinions, but greatly prefer respectful disagreement (just like any one would). I also don’t like off topic posts that take the conversation away from the primary discussion point and sometimes I moderate those, but that’s few and far between. This site is peppered with comments that reference other blogs, other companies and other resources. In fact, I post about them all the time and routinely link to other sites that are similar to Pocket Your Dollars. That’s part of helping us all be better money-savers. At the end of the day, I think blogs are like churches. There are a lot of them out there and if you aren’t happy here for whatever reason, I’d encourage you to find a place that fits.
We are going to have an awesome time at the Meet & Greet! I look forward to meeting everyone and am excited to do it again in a larger venue so we can accommodate ever more folks. I have closed the comments on this post since registration is closed and we’ll soon open up another Meet & Greet post.
