Cub’s chest freezer deal is back! Buy a chest freezer for $159 and get $159 worth of coupons. Each store has a limited quantity, so you should hurry out to get yours if this is of interest to you. Keep in mind that the $159 value of the coupons is based on full retail price of products and few of you reading this pay that :)
The rest of the Cub shopping list will be up later tonight.
Your turn: Have you gotten a freezer through this promotion whether this year or in year’s past?

I haven’t, but shared this info last year when it was running with a friend in need of a freezer, she got in on the deal and said the coupons were for items she would normally purchase and w/ her couponing got MORE than $159 worth of food…the items she wouldn’t normally buy she donated to a women’s & children’s shelter.
We got one today! We had been talking about getting a freezer anyway to take advantage of sales on meat and other frozen items, and this seemed like a great deal. My teenage son will plow through those free frozen pizzas and ice cream treats in no time!
what coupons do you get?
Anyone know the size of the freezer? I couldn’t find it on http://www.cubfoods.com
sorry I don’t remember the cubic feet, but it’s about the size of a dishwasher if that helps?
The ad says it is 5.2 cubic feet
Thank you!
CUB question. If you have a BOGO coupon (manufac) can you use another Manufac. coupon for .50cents with it. I was not sure since they are both manfac. coupons.
Jen- As long as your .50 off coupon is off of one, then you should be able use the BOGO coupon and the .50 off coupon If it’s a .50 off 2 then you have to buy a third item. (rule of thumb is one manufacturer coupon per item bought)
I picked one up this morning. My husband arrived by 9am and they were just wheeling them out from the back. They told him he was the first one to pick one up. We missed out on the deal last year. The coupons are really great. A picture of all the items offered in the coupon book are pictured on the 2nd to last page of the cub foods ad. I recommend this offer to everyone.
Anyone who got one last year know about the energy efficiency of the freezer?
I don’t want a freezer that ends up costing a lot just to run it.
The model on the box of the freezer is FRF452. Maybe you can search on-line to find out the energy efficiency. There wasn’t anything on the box.
Hope this helps.
Chest freezers are remarkably efficient – I think pretty much all of them are energy star rated – once they get cold they stay cold. When / if your power goes out a chest freezer will keep food frozen for up to a week – with no power at all. Feel good about buying one – keep it atleast half full and keep the door shut – thats all you really have to do.
Last year, included in the coupon pack was a $25 GC to Cub (it was counted as part of the coupon total). Did anyone get that in their coupon packages?

We got our freezer at Cub in Crystal and there were still plenty left Sunday night.
We were also looking for a freezer to stock up on good meat prices…and got one today. Love the coupons. Most of the stuff is items we would buy anyway!
Yipee, I needed a freezer- the price and the food is a huge bonus. Thank you again.
Rainbow had this deal about 4 yrs. back. We did it then and thought it was an amazing deal. The freezer was a Haier. We had not heard of it but it has worked great for the last 4 years.
Melanie.. Thanks for posting all the coupons! We picked one up today from Forest Lake Cub and there were about 8 or so left. GREAT coupons! We already used the $3 off Huggies wipes when we were at Target getting the super cereal deal and we picked up the wipes for better than free!! I did notice that the display model had something about “energy effiency” posted on it.
What is the brand of the freezer?
We also picked up a freezer today. I had been kicking myself for not taking advantage of this promo last year, and I was hoping it would come up again! Once I saw it in the ad, I ran right over to my closest store and bought it up. The coupons are for mostly practical items (although not necessarily any that are regularly on my shopping list), and it makes a ton of sense if you’re in the market for a chest freezer, anyway!
All gone in Buffalo! :-(
We got one and picked one up for our daughter who just bought her first house!
We got one today…didn’t even know about the offer last year. It is an Igloo brand, 5.2 cu Ft., and the tag on it states that it is energy efficient and estimated to cost approxmiately $26/year to operate. I was pleasantly surprised by the coupons…things we will buy for sure, and most of the coupons are for free items. I love it! Thanks…I might have missed this promo if it weren’t for your website!
I am assuming they don’t deliver and you need to have a vehicle to bring the freezer home in – yes?
I love that (most) of the coupons aren’t just for cub, but are manufacturer’s coupons…
I read some good advice when googling this promo- don’t be in a hurry to redeem all your coupons right away. Wait for BOGOs. This person mentioned that of all the coupons that she got last year only 6 didn’t go BOGO at some time which really gave her almost $300 in free food.
I am going to get one this morning. The manager in MG said he as 10 left as of 6am. I am planning on stocking up on berries this year and trying some power cooking!
Melissa – Good idea. You can also use the manufacturer-issued coupons strategically at Rainbow to help you get to the $25 threshold for coupon doubling. You’re better off to wait for buy one, get one (like you said), but using them at Rainbow is another way to stretch them. Plus, the manufacturer-issued onces can be redeemed at Cub beyond their expiration date, so you really have until 8/31/10 to redeem them there.
Carrie, Your website is like Christmas EVERYDAY!!! : )
Jen, yes you need to take it home yourself. But someone helped us out to the car with it, and helped us load it into our vehicle. We have a small SUV (Tribute) and it easily fit in the back with the seats down.
Is anyone planning on using this in their garage?
I was wondering if it could survive a MN winter. :)
I was planning on it. I know our garage gets down to the 20s in the winter (maybe 10s overnight) so hopefully it will be OK. My in-laws have had a chest freezer in their garage for years and years and it works just fine.
Thank you for this and the comments! For those of you thinking you want to take advantage of this, Curves is currently running a promotion – they will waive the joining fee with a bag of donations to the foodshelf (you still pay the monthly fee – which might be partially reimbursed by your healthcare insurance). Also, it is local foodshelf awareness month. I love that others have already suggested what I was thinking – donate the items (or at least the coupons) to a local foodshelf that can use what I won’t. It’s a bonus if I can get some fitness in too!
We used our Freezer in our garage the last 3 winters with no problems. We did finally mover our extra fridge in though.
EP Cub still had 8 of them left about an hour ago.
Yeah – my boyfriend just went and got one for us. I am excited as I have wanted a chest freezer for a long time! I plan on using in the garage so hopefully it will be fine. He got at the Apple Valley Cub and they had about 10-12 left he said.
My local HyVee food store did the same type of deal but for $200 worth of groceries. I did not need a tiny freezer like that but my daughter and son in law just purchased a new home and it was our house warming gift to them! Not only did they loved the freezer but knowing it has a great “one of Mom’s freebies” story attached to it! I am noted for saying “Guess how much I paid for this?”….I have to say my kids do get impressed from time to time by the deals I find…but I do pass along a lot of the credit on to Pocket your Dollars too! So even if you don’t need a freezer it is a WOMDERFUL gift idea!!! You don’t have to be like me and tell everyone you got it for free! :)
Just got mine at Edina Cub Foods…they had at least 8 left. I have been looking for one a few months…wanted it for extra meat, pizzas, and for the plan ahead meals I want to make.
Thanks for this great post I was looking into getting a 3rd, yes 3rd freezer and this is too good a deal to pass up. I had to go about 1 hour away, I live in a small town in WI, but still its great and the coupons are totally stuff we would get anyway. I told my friend about the deal, and she saw the freezer now she wants one, so I got elected to take her lol. I never would have know about this deal if not for your site. I was looking at freezers on Sunday at Menards at this is also a fair market price so its a very good deal, I told myself not to buy the one at Menards and wait for a sale, yippie this one came along. Again Thanks for all the hard work you do for us!
Hi Heather,
Just so you know, its our THIRD freezer too. :)
Karen
I purchased the freezer a couple of days ago and saw that they had a coupon for $5 off Engergizer Batteries. Since it is a Mfg. Coupon, I used it at Rainbow with their current coupon of $4.98 for 8-10 batteries….so, I was able to get the batteries for FREE!!
Also, the CUB foods in Blaine (65 & 242) is where I purchased mine. I was # 25 out of 50. I bought mine on Tuesday.
I took advantage of this deal! It’s a nice freezer and all the coupons are for food and items we would normally buy! :)
I think the one near me still has some…they still had the model sitting outside the store today. gonna try to talk my husband into it tonight and go tomorrow am.
thanks for the list of the coupons.,…thats awesome!
thanks gals! Grabbed the last one at 11:30pm last night in Eden Prairie! Hooray!
I noticed someone mentioned they did this deal last year and were able to wait for buy one get one free sales and use their free coupon to get 2 items free. Is there a slick way to watch for the sales and match them up to these coupons? Anyone have any ideas?
I saw this ad posted, but at the time didn’t need a chest freezer. Now we do, does anyone know if they will be doing this sale again?
