We received an updated coupon policy from Roundy’s corporate office that outlines their policy across all Rainbow Foods, Pick N Save and Copps stores. Please take a minute and read it before you head out this week.
As always, you can have 5 of your coupons doubled in value (a $1 off coupon becomes $2 off) when you shop on Wednesday this week. Rainbow Foods stores are also doubling coupons this Saturday as well. Read the rules of coupon doubling before you go so you understand how to ensure your coupons are doubled.
Some stores will double coupons that say “do not double” and other stores will not. I cannot tell which coupons say do not double (as I don’t print every one as I put this list together). Generally though, coupons from General Mills brands (including Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Yoplait, etc.) say “do not double.”

**NEW** Buy 6 General Mills Cereal at regular price, Get $10 off instantly at checkout plus a coupon for a free milk (this is a carry-over from last week’s deal)
General Mills runs this promotion with some frequency and here are a few things I’ve learned:
— The coupon for free milk usually takes $3.25 off your next purchase that contains milk. Milk is on sale this week for $1.98, so if you split your groceries into two transactions, buy the cereal first and the milk with your second order, using the milk coupon to pay.
— This is one case where I bring all my (cereal) coupons with me. It helps a lot when they are sold out of a kind I wanted.
— To easily figure out if you are getting a good deal work backwards. For instance, I won’t pay more than $1 per box of cereal, which would mean my final price needs to be $6 or less for all 6 boxes. From there, add in the $10 you’ll get off for buying six boxes; this means the price for all 6 boxes can’t be more than $16. Then, add in whatever coupons you have (and double 5 of them, if that applies). Let’s say you had three $1/2 coupons that could be doubled, then add 6 more dollars (three $1 coupons, doubled to $6) to bring your pre-coupon, pre-discount total to $22. What is $22? That is the highest price that all six boxes can total if I am going to buy at my target price. Make sense?

Has anyone found a Rainbow that has coupons from the “manufacturer’s coupon flyer” that came in last week’s paper at the customer service desk or around the store? My Rainbow doesn’t have any, and I forgot to buy papers from 3/14 – just got a few inserts donated from family, but no special Rainbow manufacturers’ coupon flyer. Bummed!
Anyone find out the price on the Treetop Apple Juice yet?
Thanks.
Our store in WI had it for $2.89. I planned around it and didn’t do the deal.
Jennifer – I got it today. Shelf price was $2.79.
My Rainbow experience: The Bounty Single Rolls were $1.99 not $0.99. Oh well. They will come around again.
I got these yesterday. They had there own display. I did the same thing. I got the 1.99. When I went to the CS i asked her if she would so me were they right ones were and she did. So look for a display of them.
The .99 cent ones are the trial-size. I haven’t done the math, but I don’t think this is that great of a deal, even with the .25 cent MQ. I did buy a few because I like Bounty for spring cleaning. They aren’t as linty as other paper towels.
I am nervous that the following will not work:
**UPDATE** Tree Top Juice –on sale buy one, get one free (regular price $2.79)
Buy 2 and use $1/2 Tree Top printable
Final price: $0.40 each after doubled coupon
Our store is a week behind yours, and I tried to use a $0.80/2 coupon when I bought 2 gogurts today (on sale BOGO). The computer and cashier refused to take my coupon, saying I had too many coupons for number of items purchased (since the coupon requires me to purchase 2 and technically I only purchased 1.)
Is this the new coupon policy, in regards to BOGO items?!
Good deals tonight. Spent 59.50 and got 162.16 in groceries (64%) , not bad when I factor in 20 bottles of sports drinks which would have been purchased anyway ( 99 cents is my target price on that size, though I prefer around 75 cents). I also love Palermo pizza and am thankful they offer good coupons. Love the $1 a box cereal with free milk, though I spaced the immediate $10 off before subtotaling and scrambled to grab 14 Nestle Crunch bars and used 7 bogos from my emergency coupon stash (a must for couponers!). The campbells soup was a noticeable moneymaker – four cans of tomato at .79 plus 2 $1 off 2 cans coupons which doubled as 1.98 because it went off the .99 shelf price, I think. Not sure if I’ll go on Saturday or not. Maybe one trip. Oh, and I experienced my first coupon discrimination tonight. I had 2 small orders with no one behind me, so she let me do 2 transactions. The Palermo coupns from the paper weren’t scanning right and then catalina machine stopped working when it had spit out HALF of my $3.25 on milk and the supervisor took a long time to resolve it (ended up handing me $3.25). I looked behind me and there was a line, of course. As I was walking away, the lady behind me announced “at least I don’t have 50 coupons!”. Guess she doesn’t like coupons. Sheesh!
And the lady with “no coupons” WON’T be saving 66% off her groceries, either.
Sorry the comments she made was not very kind, I stress out when I do two orders, but the lady behind me this week heard my total and said-”She saved more than she spent!” It was fun!
I will be going to the Woodbury location for my first Rainbow Foods double ever and appreciate any tips and tricks you may have. I do have
a few questions I’m hoping you can answer.
1. Does the Woodbury location go by the Shelf Price or the Sale price to get
to the $25 before coupons?
2. Do you or anyone else you know have a master list of shelf prices (we had
this previously for our store and it was wonderful to plan your whole trip
as cheaply as possible)?
3. Do they have self checkouts in Woodbury? If so, can you do a double copon
transaction at one?
4. For the Kelloggs deal this week can you go by shelf price or do you have to use the 1.88 in your scenario?
Clarie:
This is my understanding. ALL stores go by shelf price. HOWEVER, sometimes the shelf price changes. For the Kellogs deal they go by $2.50 as that is the price AFTER 8 boxes or if you do not buy 8.
I do not know if they have self checkout in Woodbury — they do not were I go.
I am not aware of a master price list for shelf price, I have seen them change the shelf price for some sales (ie the bars I bought for 2.5 yesterday are normally higher when not on sale).
Welcome to Woodbury!
1. Usually Woodbury goes by shelf price, but I’ve had enough issues that I typically go by sale price. It’s just easier when I’m shopping with the kids and don’t want to leave them sitting in line while I run and get a gift card. I do use shelf price when I shop alone, as long as I can avoid a couple problematic cashiers.
2. I don’t have a master list. It would be nice, but haven’t had time to make one.
3. Yes, they do have self checkouts, but I’ve never tried using coupons at them. Let me know how it goes if you do!
4. I didn’t do the Kellogs deal this week.
Diana
AFTER YOU USE THE SELF CHECK OUT AND PRESS “COUPONS”, A STORE PERSON COMES OVER AND WILL RING UP THE COUPONS FOR YOU>THIS IS NEW, AND DOES NOT POSE A PROBLEM IF YOU HAVE MATCHED UP ALL YOUR COUPONS CORRECTLY. I ACTUALLY PREFER IT THIS WAY SINCE EACH TIME YOU SCAN A PRODUCT YOU MUST PUT IT IN A BAG AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU ARE ALL GOOD TO GO.
I do this most of the time. I don’t think I’ve gone through a lane more than 2 times in the last 1.5 yrs. I do 3 transactions some days and don’t have to worry as much about people waiting in line behind me. I can also hear the machine telling me for each item that it’s deducting the correct amount for sale items. The machine doesn’t like the Kellogg’s deal though… it got caught in an endless loop of saying “.61 cents” yesterday. It entertains my 2 yr old :), but it still worked. In the summer, my older son likes to use the machine and it helps him be a good shopper (behaviorially and from a learning standpoint.) I keep him busy collecting blinkies and helping me with checkout. This is not the best option if you are in a hurry though. You have to wait your turn for the cashier to come over and help when he/she is free. I feel so much more in control and don’t have to check my receipt so much when I’m done though because I’ve walked through item by item and I’ve handed over my coupons in order.
I shop at the Woodbury Store and in my experience they go by the sale price which is what their coupon policy states. I have asked and talked with the customer service desk. Also, they do have self checkouts, but I have read on here that it does not make it easier to use your coupons because the checkout person has to come over and enter them. (I am not sure about this though). Also, with the cereal, I asked about adding up the $1.88 versus the self price and they said to add up the sale price (unless you are going to get less than 8). I have always had good luck with them at that store…I go in the evening and they are good about giving rainchecks for items that are out (just ask your cashier) and are pretty understanding about coupon users. (I tend to warn cashiers that I will be using coupons just so they know). If you have a problem, go right to the customer service counter. I would advise you to had them your 5 doubled coupons 1st, wait until they scan all of them, and then hand them the rest of your coupons…I have had some double that I didnt want to double. If that happens I just tell customer service that I am very deliberate about handing my 5 to double first and they have always fixed the problem.
Good luck!
THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLIED!! Went today and did 7 transactions. Went by shelf price and everything worked out. Most transactions were less than $3 oop. I will definitely be making more runs before the end of July (probably not a weekly run though – it’s a long drive). Thanks again!
What was your best transaction at Rainbow on Wednesday?
Need ideas for Saturday. I will post my best from Wednesday: 2 DiGiornio pizzas (2/10– get 3.50 off next milk catalina) 4 OB manual tooothbrushes (had 2 BOGO Q, also were on sale 2/3.98– and used (2) .75/1 Q’s to double), 1 crest toothpaste free (had printable $1 off Q) did Windex/fantastix deal w/instore flyer coupon 1.88 for each used .75 Q to double for each product (had to go w/larger and more expensive bottle of windex, not sure what was part of the deal– took 1.11 off anyway at register), had a free Vitaminwater coupon from FB page in mail– total OOP 13.23–not the best deal ever, but all items I needed!
I found some coupons on a display of Kraft Parmesan cheese. It was a stand alone display of the cheese in the middle of the aisle that sells pizza’s. On the side of the display is a tear pad, it contains 3 coupons. $1.00 Digiorno Ultimate Toppings Pizza, $1.00 Kraft Grated Parmesan and $1.00 of Two Kraft Salad dressing 16oz. Don’t know if all stores have that display. That Ultimate Toppings coupon came in handy. Also bought the Thin Palermos pizza and had it for dinner last night. There was another coupon inside, $1.00 off 2 Palermos.
Maryellen – what is the expiration date on these q’s. I remember a few months ago pulling some of the Parm cheese ones that expired 2/28. They must have issued a new batch.. which is good as my husband and sons used ours up this week. I want to look for them!
They expire 5/31/2010. If you find the display look on the side.
These same coupons are also at some Cub stores. They kind of blend into the display. They are green and typically attached to a box.
Lots of freebies this week – 2 bottles of Windex (lots of spring window cleaning), 2 OM sub lunchables, hashbrowns and 4 cans of Campbell’s soup. I wanted the free bottled water too, but my store was out. Maybe I’ll do another run on Saturday. Its nice to have that option for a few more weeks.
My store was also “out” of the water in the main aisle. But when I got to the end of the aisle there was a big stack on the end cap – I was so happy! The shelf price was $1.79 so was a 79cent moneymaker.
This may be a update to those who may shop on Saturday. The new product coupon from Lunchables that was in the Smart Source this weekend for $1/1 also is on sale for .99 at Rainbow. I usually do not buy these but they are a good filler to get to the $25.00 threshold and also you do not have to have these double so you could have these be your 6th or 7th coupon. Speaking of fillers I have purchased a book of stamps to get to the $25.00 threshold when we need stamps anyhow. Plus if the previous order had a “get two dollars off your next purchase” in a way it is like getting discounted stamps!
Does anyone know if Activia and Danonino will go on sale again? My kid’s yogurt stash is gone!
Carrie,
I really think that the Ball Park frank coupon to which you’re referring is actually a “Do Not Double.”
Thank you again for all of your hard work.
******ANYBODY NEED ANY RAINBOW BOOKLETS? I HAVE AMPLE TO GIVE OUT AND IF THERE ARE ENOUGH PEOPLE INTERESTED…CAN MAYBE PICK A HALFWAY POINT FOR EVERYBODY TO MEET UP OR CAN PUT THEM IN THE MAIL FOR YOU BY 5pm TODAY AND HOPE THEY GET TO YOU BY SATURDAY. JUST DROP ME A NOTE HERE*************
Did anyone get the TREETOP coupon to work? If you buy one and get one free, can you still use a $1/2 coupon??
Gina – It worked just fine for me. No beeps or anything. I’m not sure if another cashier would have a problem with it.
It worked for me too. The only issue I had is my ad said that Treetop Juices were BOGO free, but the sign at the store (in Brooklyn Park) said Buy TWO get one free. I bought six, to see if it actually rang up BOGO free, but it really rang up buy 2 get 1 free. I didn’t check another store to see what they had posted, but I still think it is a good deal when they are regular priced at $2.79 each. When I bought 6, I used 3 coupons and it worked great.
P.S. Thanks for the updates on the list during the week. It helps me out a lot!
Another way to get the $1 off Alaskan cod or Pollack.. it’s not a specific name brand, it should work on any Alaskan frozen fish. Mine beeped, not sure if it was coded that way?

I just heard that Rainbow is extending the double coupon Saturdays until July 31, 2010. Can anyone confirm? Evidently it was in the Pioneer Press yesterday. Great news if true!
Can I print these coupon from the online ad and will the store accept them?
MN Coupon Adventure had a scan of the ad and it did say that they would be doing double coupons until July 31st!
I just read on the blog, Minnesota Coupon Adventures, that Rainbow Foods will be extending their Saturday double coupon days through July 31st, 2010. That is such awesome news since it can be hard to get to Rainbow on Wednesdays. I am very happy about this.
Ok my MIL said the buy 6 kelloggs cereals get $10 off & free milk was still good this week, so with the new sale if I buy 8 boxes at $1.88 do I still get the $10 off and free milk? anyone do this?
Kristi – It’s General Mills cereals and yes, it is still working this week.
Anyone have probs with the Goody q doubling? It didn’t dbl for me today :(
The Goody q didn’t double for me, either…
I did one quick double coupon trip today and got one nice surprise: I have several Marzetti’s coupons ($1/1), but don’t usually buy it or see it on sale. Today, I was looking for a quick, light, sweet dressing for a salad to bring to a friend’s house tonight (didn’t plan ahead) and I found a smaller bottle (8oz)of nice dressings (sweet, fancy) called Teresa’s Select Recipes for $2.25. I looked closer and saw it was from Marzetti’s. The coupon worked and I got emergency dressing for .25! I plan to buy more this Wednesday. I don’t mind buying smaller bottles for company salad’s because I usually end up not using all of a larger bottle and then either forget to use it or find there isn’t enough for a second salad anyway. I also bought 2 bags of Fresh Express Garden Salad on sale for .99, a jar of Dole Selects mandarin oranges (.55 coupon) and a bag of almond salad garnishments with a .55 peelie. I also picked up a beautiful german chocolate cake for $5.99. I had a company salad and cake for just a little over $10. Add these things to the 2 Kemps Select milk for 1.99, Brownberry bread for 1.69, eggs for .79, 2 free RedHot sauces (they finally got those little bottles in at SLP Rainbow), a jar of Jif Naturals and Smuckers jam ($1 off 2) and 2 Saturday Strib papers…all for $21. I mention all this because in the past I have wasted lots of money buying emergency food (parties, I’m-too-tired suppers, too busy to save money, etc). Today, I headed to the store with my usual one envelope of Rainbow coupons (forgot the rest at home) and I was able to take advantage of double coupon day, get emergency company dishes and other staples for the price I probably would have spent just for the salad and cake just one year ago. I haven’t had an emergency shopping trip in a while and I need to stock that envelope a little better, for future use.
Thanks to Carrie, Laura and the rest of us PYD’ers for a new way to live, even when a day might be chaotic!
