Your paper should have two inserts – a Red Plum and a Smart Source. You’ll notice that the first of the springtime/summertime coupons were released this weekend including barbecue sauce, charcoal, and swimmer’s diapers. I’ve noted them on the list, since we haven’t seen them for months, but they’ll become more commonplace in the weeks ahead.
My picks are rare coupons or those that I think are likely to turn into freebies. I receive a home delivered copy of the Minneapolis Star Tribune and it’s possible that the coupons in your Sunday paper look different than mine. Understand why by reading 4 reasons your paper may have different coupons than your neighbor’s.
For more own type-A-ness, the coupons are organized alphabetically within category.
If you’re new to couponing, read through my picks from previous weeks to learn from my oh-so delightful commentary in weeks gone by.
If you want more copies of these coupons ask friends, neighbors, co-workers, or even restaurants, coffee shops or libraries for their unused copies. You can also order the specific coupons you want from The Coupon Clippers.
Your turn: Which coupons do you think will turn into a freebie or rock bottom-priced item?
Everyday, Regular Priced Items
Buy the following products with a coupon from this weekend’s paper at their everyday price and you’ll get a great deal or maybe even a freebie.
Clearasil. This $1.50/1 coupon does not have any size restrictions, which makes me wonder how much the lowest-priced package is? Any ideas? (Smart Source)
Heinz 57 Sauce with Lea Perrins. $2 off one bottle of steak sauce is a great way to kick off the first week of springtime coupons! Let’s leave comments with details of where we find this sauce and how much a small bottle is. (Smart Source)
Stride Gum. Buy 2, get one free. Plus, a mystery coupon (for a mysterious value) when you purchase any Stride Mega Mystery gum. Leave a comment when you find out how much the mystery coupon is worth. (Smart Source)
Windex Outdoor All-in-One Starter Kit. Get a $5 Target gift card with purchase of the Windex product. You can also use this $2.50/1 Windex All-in-One starter kit coupon to lower your initial out of pocket expense. (Smart Source)
Sale Priced Items
If these products go on sale before the coupon expires you will get a rock bottom price or maybe even a freebie. Look through the coupons on the “coupons doubled in value” list below as well, since they could be included here too.
Aussie. Buy one shampoo or conditioner, save $2 on a hair styling product. (Red Plum)
Contact Solution. Boy, this stuff is expensive and this week’s $3/1 Clear Care Cleaning Solution ort AQuify Multi-Purpose Solution should help take the sting out buying it. (Smart Source)
Farm Rich Snack Products. It isn’t often that Farm Rich issues a coupon, let alone a $1/1 coupon. (Smart Source)
Gentle Naturals. Anyone have an idea how much the lowest-priced Gentle Naturals baby product is? The coupon doesn’t have a size restriction so maybe the smallest bottle/package of one of their products will be fairly cheap with this $1/1 coupon. (Smart Source)
Georgia Pacific Rebate. Buy $20 in select Georgia-Pacific products, get $5 back via mail-in rebate. The fine print says that the $20 is after all other discounts and credits have been applied, so that means you’d spend $20 after coupons. (Red Plum)
Hidden Valley Farmhouse Dressing. $2/1 salad dressing coupons pretty easily turn into freebies with even a slight sale. (Smart Source)
Kingsford Charcoal. Save $2 on meat when you buy charcoal briquettes. We will see more of these types of coupons throughout the spring and summer, but it’s the first one of the season. (Smart Source)
Lysol Neutra Air Freshmatic Starter Kit. Companies love to give starter kits away so that you continue to buy the refills. I’d expect this $4/1 coupon to turn into a free or close-to-free kit in the weeks ahead. (Smart Source)
Maruchan Yakisoba. At full price Maruchan products don’t cost a lot, but add in a $1/2 coupon and a sale and we’re taking cheap-o. (Smart Source)
McCormick Spice, Herb, Extract or Food Color. This is a rare coupon and I bet we’ll see McCormick products go on sale between now and Easter. I’ve used similar coupons (doubled in value) to get free black pepper and last year they issued a $1/1 that I used for free lemon extract. (Red Plum)
Olay Facial Moisturizer or Cleanser. If you use Olay products, then get your hands on three of these $1/1 coupons so that the products you buy to qualify for this $15 Olay mail-in rebate were all purchased with a coupon. (Rebate required purchase by March 12)
Pampers Diapers. $2 off one package of diapers is a great coupon. (Red Plum)
Pampers Splashers. Spring has officially arrived! Our first swimming diaper coupons of the season have been issued. These will become commonplace over the summer, but it’s been months since we’ve seen them. (Red Plum)
Prevacid. $6/1 14- or 28-count and $10/1 42-count is serious savings for people that routinely take this medicine .(Smart Source)
Soy Joy Bars. I don’t think I’ve ever paid for Soy Joy bars and we’ve, well my husband’s, eaten hundreds of them (I can’t stand them personally). Coupons like the $1 off a 6-pack and buy 2, get one free matched with sales at the drugstore often create freebies. (Smart Source)
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. As soon as this week these will be free when this $0.55/1 coupon is combined with a drugstore sale. (Smart Source)
Suave Products. Suave products are cheap to begin with, but when you buy them on sale with coupons they are really cheap. (Smart Source)
Wisk. $1/1 laundry detergent is always an awesome coupon. (Red Plum)
Coupons Doubled in Value
If you can shop at a store where the value of your coupon is doubled and these products go on sale before the coupon expires, then you will likely get a freebie or something close to it.
Trop50. With Easter at hand we will see coupons and sales on brunch foods in the next few weeks. Right before Christmas I used a similar $1/1 Trop50 coupon and got cartons of free OJ because it was on sale. (Red Plum)
KC Masterpiece Barbecue Sauce. The right sale will turn this $1/1 coupon into free sauce. It’s just in time too since we are just finishing up the last of our barbecue sauce from the end of last summer. (Smart Source)
Lay’s. Lays new potato chips warrant a high-value $1/1 chips coupon. If you have a spring picnic in mind at some point, this could get you a pretty inexpensive snack. (Smart Source)
Lysol Disinfectant Spray. $1/1 is the highest-value coupon you’ll find for Lysol products. I’ve seen them on sale for $2.50, making them just $0.50 after this $1/1 coupon is doubled in value. (Smart Source)
Palermo ’s Pizza. I LOVE Palermo’s Pizza and am thrilled to see this $1/1 coupon. (Smart Source)
Various cleaning products. Spring cleaning is at hand and there are tons of coupons this week including a $0.75/1 Barbecue Grill Cleaner. That won’t make it free, but it’ll be better than paying full price. (Smart Source)
Woolite. It’s obvious that a $3 off coupon is awesome, and even better when it’s laundry detergent, since we all use it. This coupon restricts the size to any Woolite 50+ ounces. (Smart Source)
Eat Out / Recreation / Other
These coupons vary widely not only from region-to-region, but zip code to zip code, but this is what I got:
Baker’s Square. Save $5 on $20 purchase or buy one adult entrée, get a second 50% off. (Red Plum)
Chuck E Cheese. Various coupons. (Smart Source)
Green Mill. Two $10 off $30 purchase coupons and a $9.99 one topping large pizza. (Smart Source)
LensCrafters. Free trial pair of Air Optix Aqua Multifocal Contacts. Wow, does that product have a long name or what?? (Smart Source)
Olive Garden. $4 off 2 dinner entrees.
Underwater Adventures at Mall of America. Free child admission and buy 1, get 1 50% off. Expire June 12, 2010 (Smart Source)

Carrie.
The $15 Olay mail-in rebate is only for products purchased by March12 – so you may wish to remove reference to it.
JC – Thanks. Done.
i used the Palarmo pizza Q’s yesterday at Rainbow as they were $2 ea. Also, they had their GE light bulbs on sale(reg. price $4.99ea) for 10/10 so stock piled with my $1 Q’s with the pizza allowing me to use 5Q’s for the pizza and not even needing to double Q’s for the bulbs. Did this 4 times and only pd tax.
The Stride gum coupon is worth 50 cents. It says this in the top right hand corner of the coupon. I learned this from your sight.
FYI on Clear Care contact solution coupons…along with the $3 off in the 3/14 smartsource there’s a $5 off a 2-pack in the walgreens ad. (I posted this on the Walgreens comments, but thought I should add it here since you mention the $3 coupon.) I hope they take both for a great deal! I use this solution exclusively, and it’s hard to find coupons for it!
Rainbow had a seperate coupon book that I received in my paid subscription to the StarTribune. Filled with lots of store coupons that will go great with manufacture coupons!!!
It was not included in the early edition sold at Rainbow (SLP)
My stride coupon was only worth .40 cents at Walmart today
sorry, just rechecked my receipt, the mystery coupon was worth .50
Hi, I am new to this site and couponing and I am a little confused as to how the double value coupons work. Is it certain grocery stores that do this? Does it say on the coupon? Can you help me with this?
Thanks!
some stores double-coupon. They say in their ads or you can make a quick call to your local store to confirm. Some are all the time, some are on certain days. Ask or look/listen to their ads. Some coupons state on the top near the expiration “do not double”.
