You’ve heard me talk about Swagbucks before and I’m mentioning it again because they are giving away bonus Swagbucks’ codes to new and seasoned users alike. It’s all part of their birthday party, as Swagbucks turns two years old today. Keep reading for answers to commonly asked questions, but know that my family has become a Swagbucks family, using it for all our online searching. We love it!
First-time Swagbucks users. Create a Swagbucks account and enter the SwagCode POCKETDOLLARS to get 60 Swagbucks right out of the gate. On a normal day you’d get 30, but hey, it’s a birthday and we’re feeling generous. (Before you think that’s enough for a free gift, know that they increased all their payouts and prizes by a multiple of 10 overnight, so this is like 6 Swagbucks used to be). Code is good through March 6, 2010.
Long-time Swagbucks users. Download the Swagbucks toolbar for easy searching and be sure to follow Swagbucks on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with all the codes they release that can be turned into Swagbucks.
Your turn: What have you earned using Swagbucks?
I’ve put together some frequently asked questions to help you understand and get started earning with Swagbucks.
What’s Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a search engine, like Google or Yahoo! with one key difference. You earn points (called “Swagbucks”) for searching and can use your Swagbucks to buy prizes in the Swag Store. It’s that simple.
How Do I Earn Swagbucks?
There are lots of ways to earn them.
Search. As you use Swagbucks for a search engine by logging into Swagbucks.com, then searching, you will periodically be rewarded with a random Swagbucks gift varying from 10-50 Swagbucks.
Search on Fridays. Fridays have come to be known as Mega Swagbucks Day, since they give out a higher-than-normal ratio of Swagbucks to searches. It behooves you to have your kids do their homework on Friday night, well…that’s probably stretching it :)
Toolbar. Installing the Swagbucks toolbar is an easier way to search. This keeps you logged in and the search engine in front of you for quick easy searches. That means quick and easy Swagbucks wins. They also periodically release special Swagbucks codes and bonuses, communicating those through the toolbar.
Swagbucks Blog. Like any good blog, Swagbucks’ blog runs Swagbucks announces giveaways and codes that can be redeemed for Swagbucks through theirs.
Swagbucks on Facebook. They promote codes through their Facebook fan page (sort of like I did a giveaway yesterday exclusively on the Pocket Your Dollars fan page)
Swagbucks on Twitter. They release codes that can be redeemed for Swagbucks to their twitter followers. Follow Swagbucks on Twitter. I can’t go without encouraging you to follow Pocket Your Dollars on Twitter too.
What’s New in Swagbucks 3.0?
Timed with their birthday celebration is the roll-out of an updated and upgraded Swagbucks. A couple of new things you’ll find:
Online Sweepstakes Portal. They call online sweepstakes, Swagstakes, and with version 3.0 they have dozens of Swagstakes running all the time. You spend your Swagbucks for a chance to win a prize.
In the next week alone their swagstakes are giving away things like: $100 Amazon Gift Cards, Sony Bravia 32″ TV, Amazon Kindle, Apple iPod Touch, Flip Ultra HD Camera, Panasonic Blu Ray with Remote, Apple iPad, Sopranos Complete Series Box Set, Rachel Ray 10 piece cookware set, Playstation 3 system + games bundle, Canon Powershot Camera, Seinfeld Complete Series DVD box Set, Viziio 22″ LCD TV and plenty more.
Swagbucks Award and Prize Amounts Changed. Nothing costs more, but the proportions went up. Where you used to earn 1 Swagbuck, you’ll earn 10 and where you used to spend 45 Swagbucks, you’ll now spend 450. Read more about this change on their site.

Exciting to get a bunch of swags but if you look at the prizes there all over priced too. Amazon gift card was 45SB know its 450 SB.
Amy – It’s all proportional. So your awards are multiplied by 10 and the cost of prizes is multiplied by ten.
I have to say I don’t see the point in them doing this…
I haven’t used Swagbucks before. What kind of rewards or prizes can you earn?
I just cashed out for an amazon gift card, and it’s “on sale” for 450 swagbucks. The normal price is now 1000. That’s a 220% increase (if my math is right). And we can still earn only 1 sb per search, so….I’m glad I cashed in when I did!
Since they changed it, I haven’t gotten fewer than 10 swagbucks for any search that won anything. I think they’ve increased those proportionally as well. (Instead of winning, 1, 2, or 5 SB you get 10, 20, or 50…)
please delete that last comment… it’s not allowed to post codes like that! If swag notices then they yank that code and no one else can redeem it… don’t ruin it!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for pointing that out Kira
hi
If I won the photobook I would take all the pictures of my daughter and make her a photobook. I signed up for Pocket Your Dollars a while back. Does that mean I get 4 more enteries into the contest? I hope so. I love your website. Thank You for helping me to save $$$$$.
