Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick N Save Shopping List 1/31 – 2/6/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

As always, Roundy’s stores will double the face value of up to 5 coupons on Wednesday when you meet all the other criteria I mention here with this caveat:

Coupons that say “Do Not Double.” It has always been Roundy’s official policy that they do not double coupons that say “do not double.” On numerous occasions I had asked the cashiers and management at the store where I shop about that and was told that if the register doubles the coupon, then it could be doubled. In the last week Roundy’s corporate has asked the stores to stop accepting coupons that say “do not double.” I understand that last week some cashiers took “do not double” coupons and others did not. Personally, I will be forthright and ask this week about them, but will not plan on them doubling.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I cannot tell which printable coupons say “do not double” and which do not apart from printing them and I cannot always print every coupon (sometimes I have already printed it, etc.). That means 1) I will try, by process of observation, to note which coupons allow for doubling and which don’t (but I won’t ever learn them all), 2) I typed the list as if every coupon can be doubled (since I cannot tell from the databases I use which allow for doubling and which don’t), but 3) you will have to review the coupons cross-referenced on this list to confirm whether they can be doubled or not.

Comments

  1. rachael says:

will they double your five coupons if part of your 25 dollar total is the 20 dollars worth of Kelloggs….or will it just count as 10 dollars? (since it’s 10 dollars off at checkout)

    • Alison says:

      Rachael,
My experience has been that I include the $20 price to get the coupons to double. So I buy about $5 worth of items to get to the $25 threshold, and then the coupons double. I often have a cashier who will say, “your coupons may not double” because he/she sees that my total says around $15 on the screen, but I always take the risk knowing that I added the shelf price on my calculator and they’ve always doubled. Hope you have the same experience.

  2. rachael says:

okay – one more question…did you make your “deal ideas” using the shelf price and not the sale price of the items…so you hit the $25 dollar price? Just curious. :) Thanks!

    • Jae says:

the official rainbow policy is that the total of your order must be $25 after the cashier hit the total button. some stores and cashiers go by the shelf price and other stores and cashier go by the sale price. just to be safe, i usually go the the sale price.

  3. Shannon says:

Rainbow honors coupons from other stores? Did I read that correctly? Thanks Carrie.

  4. rachael says:

Me again…promise coupons say do not double. :(

  5. Alison says:

There sure hasn’t been as many high value cereal coupons lately! I miss all the $1/1 coupons from Sept – Nov! But, this is still a great deal for cereal, and I can’t believe that we actually need cereal again after stocking up in Nov.

    • Sarah Beth says:

Starting to see trends (after doing this for about 9 months). The coupons tend to fit the season. Lots of “back to school” in the fall, lots of baking around the holidays, right now it seems like lots of “entertaining/football party” items and Carrie already mentioned lots of oatmeal.

  6. terri says:

rachael: Shelf price, not sale price. coupons will double with your sub-total being less than $25 as your total is retail and subtotal is after sale price. if they say they won’t double, just ask them to do it anyway, they will double.

  7. Sara says:

There is also a printable $1 coupon for Wholly Guacamole at
    http://www.beefretail.org/CMDocs/BeefRetail/promotions/HeftySuperbowlFSI.pdf

  8. julie says:

Can you you get double coupons at midnight tonight? I work a late shift and thought it would be easier to get my double coupons done around 12:30 AM instead of waiting until later in the day/…

    • Kierstien says:

Not sure my rainbow is only open 7am to 11pm. Where is there a 24hr one?

    • Nikki says:

None of the stores are 24 hours anymore. I know they all close at 11am but not sure about opening time … it’s between 6am – 7am.

    • Haila says:

The Rainbow I go to is still open 24 hours a day (at least, that’s what their sign says — I’ve never been there at 3 AM!). It is in Northeast Minneapolis at the Quarry shopping center – just off I-35W. I have no idea if you can go after midnight on Tuesday, though. Good question.

  9. Kierstien says:

Okay for those of you that shop at lakeville rainbow, if I am thinking correctly you all said they go by “shelf price” for dbl days so if i buy the 8boxes of kellogs and use 5cpns ($1 each or example) then they should all double and my total being only tax, correct? I shouldnt have to purchase anything else since “shelf” price would be over the $25 threshold? Let me know, THANKS!

    • Patty says:

Kierstien that has never worked for me. The $10 is deducted as soon as you hit 8 boxes so that will probably bring you under the $25. You will probably need another $9-$10 depending on the price of the cereal. Good luck if it works for you!

      • Kierstien says:

patty do you shop at lakeville? because i know when i did the genrel mills deal and it took the $10 off my total was $16 before any cpns and i still got cpns dbled

    • Chrissy says:

It depends on what brand is doing the deal. Kellog’s it was after the $10 General Mills was before the $10 was taken off.

  10. Dawn says:

The Rainbow ad that I rec’d on thursday last week has some additional deals.
Pillsbury Biscuits or Crescents 10/10.00 If you buy 6 you will get a voucher for 4.00 off your next shopping trip.

BOGO Free Palermo’s Rising crust Pizza (save up to 4.99 on two) no coupon

Crystal Farms Shredded or Chunk Cheese 3/4.98 (save up to 4.47 on three)

Pillsbury Valentine Cookies 2/5.00 (save .98 on two)

Jello Pudding or Gelatins Snacks 3/7.98 (save up to 3.09 on three) I have 1.00 off two coupon for these.
Some Roundys brand items as well.

    Good luck

  11. cheryl says:

Rainbow will only honor coupons from other stores if they say manufacturer coupon on them.

  12. Cath says:

I’ve posted this everywhere I’ve seen Rainbow couponers online: FYI- there is a Gold Bond Manufacturer’s coupon in this week’s Rainbow ad – $4 off of 2. It does not exclude trial sizes, so it can be used on trial sizes at other stores, like Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc.

  13. Shelly B says:

FYI: Old El Paso Green Chilies Coupon is a DND :(

  14. Angie says:

There is an insert in most papers or Saturday flyers that are good for Rainbow’s in YOUR area.
For instance, the 2 lb. bag of white rice is 1.89 in most stores, in WSP it’s 1.29 this week.

  15. Laura Wales says:

The Old El Paso chiles printable coupon says Do Not Double.

  16. Kierstien says:

This week i am planning on buying Jacks pizza! On sale for $1.99 plus .40cpn in 1/24ss instert! $1.59 but if you double q then $1.19
    HTH!

  17. Kierstien says:

Does anyone know if Rainbow pharmacy accepts competitor cpns? I have two perscriptions I need filled and if i could get rainbow gift cards i’d fill it there! Please help!

  18. Erin says:

Green Giant Steamers says do not double.

  19. katie says:

I am new to this. Can you do 2 transactions back to back or do you need to go out to the car and drop your items off and then come back inside? Is the store busy at 6 am? Otherwise I will wait until after work at 5. Can I still find most coupon ites if I wait until then? Thanks for the help!!

    • Theresa K. says:

      Katie,

It depends on your store and how busy it is. Each store is different. After a couple visits, you’ll know the rhythm of your store.

Coupons items can be out as soon as lunch. You can always ask for a raincheck and buy it the next Wednesday. Have back up coupons ready!

      Hope this helps!

    • Sarah Beth says:

I’ve done two with no complaint – but I’ve never tried three in a row.

    • Anne says:

When I first began couponing about 9 months ago, I went ahead and did four transactions at once. With Carrie’s urging to be kind to those behind you in line, I cut back on two transactions at a time, using the dividing plastic thingy between them and letting the cashier know I had two transactions. I’d then bring them out to my car and come back for more! I’m glad I’m doing it this way. It works well, and recently a woman behind me was boasting on how much she was saving by couponing. She had her cart piled high and said proudly that she was doing four transactions!!! Inwardly, I groaned, and wondered if that was how I had looked.

I actually believe it is easier to limit myself to two transactions at a time. I get to get a breath of fresh air between each set of transactions; I already have my coupon stash, water bottle, purse and reuseable bags in my cart, and if I think my cart drives stinky, I can swap it out for a new one!

Hope that helps! It’s not all about getting a great deal and getting in and out as fast as possible. Courtesy goes a long way!!!!

  20. Kim says:

Does Rainbow except expired coupons? Anyone know? Sorry if this has been answered already.

  21. Erin says:

Be careful with the Kellogg’s/Keebler products. I mistakenly grabbed two cereal boxes that I thought were part of the deal, but were not $2.50 and so didn’t end up getting the deal.

  22. JackieM says:

Yes, you can do two transactions… I wouldn’t do it if it was busy though or if your transactions are big.

  23. Rachel J. says:

Also, from my experience, Rainbow does something sneaky: For deals like the Kelloggs deal they make the sale price the shelf price.

However, the $20 counts towards your $25 total, even though you get $10 off instantly. So, you would probably need to spend an additional $5 :) HTH!

    • Kierstien says:

Okay so I am guessing this is based on store to store because some poeple are saying the $20 will go towards the $25 threshhold and others are saying only the $10 will go towards it…hmmm i may chance it.

    • Korene says:

I noticed this a couple weeks ago too with the Hamburger Helper at the Cottage Grove store. I was surprise to see the shelf price as 10/10.00. Then I check on it the following week and it was that weeks sale price. So I find it hard to pick out my $25 minimum ahead of times in situations like this where they may change the shelf price.

  24. Angie says:

Hello – is $2.50 for the hellmanns mayo a good price?

  25. Susie says:

Is my math correct? So let’s say you were going to buy the 8 Keebler cookies @ $2.50 each. If you included the shelf price, you’d qualify for the $25 threshold for double coupons. Use 5 of the $1/1 man. coupons. Total purchase price would be $20, take off $10 for buying 8 Kellogs, and take off $10 in the doubled coupons….does this make them free???

    • Cath says:

      Looks right to me!

    • Sarah Beth says:

This “depends” on a few things – 1) if your store will double based off shelf price or based off sale price 2) if your store decided to “adjust” the shelf price for this week to $2.50 and 3) if you can find five $1/1 coupons. But yes, IF the shelf price exceeds 25 and if you have five $1/1 coupons this might work for you. But often the stores get sneaky and adjust the shelf price to say $2.50 which will make you spend an extra $5 to get to the 25.

    • Alison says:

Susie – see Rachel J.’s post a couple above yours – her experience has been my experience as well, where you have to buy about $5 more to get to the $25 threshhold.

    • Cath says:

I thought she was asking if her scenario made the Kellogg’s/Keebler products free…which it does, right?

  26. SarahBB says:

    Carrie:
Question about Kelloggs deal– can we use the BOGO Special K printable that was recently posted— for this deal OR would it count as an freebie internet coupon that Rainbow will no longer take–technically we are buying something. . .

    • Kierstien says:

my guess is you cant because when the milk coupon was out there they would not accept it even tho you were buying something.
      HTH!

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Rainbow doesn’t take printed coupons for free stuff – buy one, get one free or “try me free” or anything else free. So nope, won’t be able to use it there.

  27. Kierstien says:

Does anyone know where i can get a copy of the rainbow ad from last thursday? where on the back has the deals good through tomorrow? Or anyone that can scan it and send it to me? my email is kierstienafetzek at gmail dot com
Thanks i would appreciate it greatly!

  28. Lisa says:

Can you get more than one rebate from the Organix shampoo?

    • Anne says:

No, I don’t believe so. I believe it is one per household. You can check the fine print, though and see what it says before you buy the “extra” ones.

  29. Shannon says:

I can not find the All coupon am I missing something?

  30. Susie says:

Carrie, was Rainbow the store with a good deal on ice cream this week?

  31. Terry says:

Just to let everyone know that Rainbow is doubling coupons WED and SAT now. It runs I beleive into April.

  32. rachael says:

Still curious to know how our coupons will double in “deal idea #1″….I can’t see how this total will be anywhere near $25.

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Rachael – You’re right. I guess I had an unspoken assumption and that was that you add enough fillers to be sure you get to $25. I doubt you’ll need much since the sale price is over $15, I bet the full price is around $20.

      • rachael says:

Thanks Carrie! My husband did it this morning…I just made sure to hit $25 by adding some things, so he spent 9 something and got back the $7 OYNO…he’ll be getting the kellog’s deal and toilet paper with that on his way home! :) BTW- saw you on TCL…good job! (even though that dumb magazine wouldn’t stay on the rack…haha! =D)

        • Tracee says:

          what Rainbow were you at?

This did not work at the Blaine rainbow this morning

          • rachael says:

We shop the Woodbury and Oakdale Rainbows. I think my husband had stopped at the woodbury one this morning with the first list. What didn’t work for you?

  33. Traci says:

    Help!
I am not able to find the promise spread or the ALL laundry coupon carrie mentioned that should be in the 1/31 RP

    Thanks!

  34. There’s a $1/1 I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter coupon here, and the print limit is 5!
    http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=zbamfvr3706695&bt=wg&o=59584&c=IC&p=DtuPHF0Q

  35. JoannaV says:

    A few more freebies/cheapies:

I Can’t Believe Its Not Butter 2/$4 – there are $1 off coupon on their website making it free after doubled. This is also included in the Unilever deal.

Frigo string cheese $2.99 – there is a $1 off coupon on frigocheeseheads. com making it .99.

Freshlike veggies – $1/ea. – there is a $1/3 coupon on freshlike.com – making veggies .33 per bag after doubled coupon.

Manwich – $1/can – there was a buy 2 get 1 free coupon in All You magazine (I believe it was December or January) There is also a $1/2 coupon in the Con Agra coupon book that Carrie talked about signing up for a few weeks ago.

In store ad – Totino’s pizzas $1 – use $1/5 (in a previous Sunday insert – sorry I don’t know which one) making them $3/5 pizzas.

  36. Rachel J. says:

    Susie,

Just to clarify about your earlier post, if the shelf price is the sale price (which from my many experience at Rainbow, it always is) then you would NOT reach the $25 threshold simply by buying the Kelloggs products. $2.50 shelf/sale price x 8 = $20.

But, I’ve really only found this to be true with the cereal deal. Other times, like when I got TONS of free coffee filters, they were on sale $10/10 but the shelf price was like $1.66, so it varies :)

    Good luck everyone!

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Rachel – Correct that with this Kellogg’s deal they change the shelf price so the boxes total $20 and that is what counts toward the $25 threshold.

      • Kierstien says:

        Thanks for clarifying Carrie!

        • Tracee says:

Carrie since they give you 10.00 off right away does it only count as 10.00 of your purchase and not 20.00?

Also was there this morning.. you to earn money off your next shopping trip the dollar amt has to total 15 or 20 after coupons!!! This is the first time I ran into this

          • Carrie Rocha says:

Tracee – Previous weeks when they’ve run the Kelloggs deal the cereals have counted as $20. I haven ‘t been there today to confirm for myself, but it sounds (from Nate) like it is working that same way this week.

  37. Julie W says:

Something worth mentioning that I haven’t seen on here yet….

Nortons Salt saver pellets are 5/20$ must by 5, limit 5

    Deal idea!
buy five, use two $1/2 from coupons.com (search household)
    Pay $16 for 5 bags , or 3.20 a bag.

This is the cheapest I have found, I don’t think these get much cheaper. Can anyone comment on this price?

Plus you will easily be at your 25$ threshold and have 3 coupons you could add and still double.

They had a deal like this months ago…. like early fall. I thought it sounded like the same deal we did, but my husband said we got it cheaper than that. I looked back at previous list’s on here we got those bags for $2 after double coupons. Its still a good price as those bags usually are $5 each. But my hubby says for us to hold off on them.

      • Julie W says:

Thanks so much Erin! I didn’t realize there was a better deal out there, we’ve had this discussion b efore in threads and it didn’t come up.

Thanks for reminding me I can use the search box to look for previous deals on a product that have been listed here!

Can anyone that still has last weeks insert from thursday tell me the “deals” on the back that are still go through tomorrow? Mine got thrown away before i could even look at it last week :(
is the pilsbury deal 10/10 still good? carrie? laura? anyone?
    Thanks!

    • Laura Wales says:

Kierstien, I’m going to check this deal out tomorrow and I’ll let ya’ll know. I do know that the “Buy 6, get $4 OYNO” is good until 2/21.

      • Laura Wales says:

Yes, the Pillsbury 10 for $10 deal is still good and should work with the buy X, get $X OYNO deal. The biscuits/rolls that are $1 are the really small (I think 4ct) size.

  40. Tammy says:

    CoonRapids Rainbow shoppers FYI:
They are no longer giving you overage on doubled coupons. The coupon will only double up to the shelf price.

  41. Terry says:

Carrie- My wife works for Rainbow and the word just came down yesterday. The signs were being hung yesterday.

  42. Terry says:

I beleive this saturday is the start of double coupons for saturdays. It is supposed to run every week Wed and Sat till April. I will give more detial when I find out.

  43. Shannon says:

I have the star tribune delivered and did not get the All coupon, but I did get the promise spread.

  44. Shannon says:

The maple grove Rainbow also will not give an overage if the $ amount of the item does not exceed the doubled vlaue. So last week my $1.89 item only doubled to $1.89 and the $1.29 items to $1.29 (that was the full shelf price).

  45. Becca says:

Pick ‘n Save only requires $5 more over 8 boxes of cereal to make doubling work. So the $10 counts like a coupon and doesn’t short your total. Did it 3 times this morning!

  46. Nate says:

Good first trip this morning. Got the 8 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal (with no coupons unfortunately, but we’re in desperate need of cereal) and did the Unilever deal to get $7 off my next purchase. Spent $23 for $62 worth of groceries and will get $7 off my purchase that I’ll make on my way home today. I would have saved and extra 75 cents, but I accidentally cut off the expiration date from one of my coupons and they wouldn’t take it. Oops!

    • Tracee says:

      Nate

did you use coupons on the Unilever deal? My Rainbow in Blaine did not print out the 7.00 and they said it was because I used coupons on that product

      • Nate says:

Yes, I used five coupons on the Unilever products and still got the $7 off.

      • Jonna says:

I just did the Unilever deal at Brooklyn Park and it did print out the $7 off, but for some reason the total was 9.18, instead of 7.68. I think because the promise coupon did not double. Still a good deal overall.

  47. Shelly says:

Okay, here’s the GREAT deal I just happened to notice at Rainbow today – which will make my teenage son very happy. Our Rainbow (West End) had the biggest boxes of Bagel Bites on clearance for 75% off. Instead of $8.69, they were $2.17. Wish I’d had one of those $1 off coupons they often have available because then it would have been 17 cents!

  48. Aleta says:

I’m new to this and have just done printable coupons so far since I don’t get a newspaper. But I’ve noticed several items I’d like to pick up this week that had coupons in the 1/31 paper — is it still possible to buy Sunday’s paper somewhere so I can get these coupon inserts?

    • Cara says:

I’ve often wondered the same thing since we don’t get the paper. Does anyone know where or how to get the Sunday paper on Mon or Tues?

    • Kristi says:

I got one at the dollar tree once on a monday or tuesday, it just depends if they sold out or if star collected i suppose. (I believe they only sell papers on Sunday)

      • Susan says:

I have been told – haven’t personally checked – that Strib HQ downtown has the past 7 days in machines in their lobby & the Sundays do still include the inserts. HTH!

  49. lynda burwitz-nelsen says:

Someone mentioned the oscar mayer bologna being free after the 1/1 printable—wrong size (12 oz is on sale and the coupon is for 16 oz size)

  50. Tracee says:

    Rachel

the Unilever deal. they said I had to spend out of pocket 15.00 or 20.00 to get the deal.
I did my shopping my total was 10.81 (after coupons) and I did not get the ticket for 5.00 or 7.00 off your next shopping order, because I did not spend 15.00 or 20.00 out of pocket.. but you said your husband spent 9.00 and got the coupon for your next shopping order
