Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick N Save Shopping List 1/31 – 2/6/10

As always, Roundy’s stores will double the face value of up to 5 coupons on Wednesday when you meet all the other criteria I mention here with this caveat:

Coupons that say “Do Not Double.” It has always been Roundy’s official policy that they do not double coupons that say “do not double.” On numerous occasions I had asked the cashiers and management at the store where I shop about that and was told that if the register doubles the coupon, then it could be doubled. In the last week Roundy’s corporate has asked the stores to stop accepting coupons that say “do not double.” I understand that last week some cashiers took “do not double” coupons and others did not. Personally, I will be forthright and ask this week about them, but will not plan on them doubling.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I cannot tell which printable coupons say “do not double” and which do not apart from printing them and I cannot always print every coupon (sometimes I have already printed it, etc.). That means 1) I will try, by process of observation, to note which coupons allow for doubling and which don’t (but I won’t ever learn them all), 2) I typed the list as if every coupon can be doubled (since I cannot tell from the databases I use which allow for doubling and which don’t), but 3) you will have to review the coupons cross-referenced on this list to confirm whether they can be doubled or not.

  1. rachael says

will they double your five coupons if part of your 25 dollar total is the 20 dollars worth of Kelloggs….or will it just count as 10 dollars? (since it's 10 dollars off at checkout)

    • Alison says

My experience has been that I include the $20 price to get the coupons to double. So I buy about $5 worth of items to get to the $25 threshold, and then the coupons double. I often have a cashier who will say, "your coupons may not double" because he/she sees that my total says around $15 on the screen, but I always take the risk knowing that I added the shelf price on my calculator and they've always doubled. Hope you have the same experience.

  2. rachael says

okay – one more question…did you make your "deal ideas" using the shelf price and not the sale price of the items…so you hit the $25 dollar price? Just curious. :) Thanks!

  3. Alison says

There sure hasn't been as many high value cereal coupons lately! I miss all the $1/1 coupons from Sept – Nov! But, this is still a great deal for cereal, and I can't believe that we actually need cereal again after stocking up in Nov.

  4. terri says

rachael: Shelf price, not sale price. coupons will double with your sub-total being less than $25 as your total is retail and subtotal is after sale price. if they say they won't double, just ask them to do it anyway, they will double.

  5. julie says

Can you you get double coupons at midnight tonight? I work a late shift and thought it would be easier to get my double coupons done around 12:30 AM instead of waiting until later in the day/…

    • Nikki says

None of the stores are 24 hours anymore. I know they all close at 11am but not sure about opening time … it's between 6am – 7am.

    • Haila says

The Rainbow I go to is still open 24 hours a day (at least, that's what their sign says — I've never been there at 3 AM!). It is in Northeast Minneapolis at the Quarry shopping center – just off I-35W. I have no idea if you can go after midnight on Tuesday, though. Good question.

  6. Kierstien says

Okay for those of you that shop at lakeville rainbow, if I am thinking correctly you all said they go by "shelf price" for dbl days so if i buy the 8boxes of kellogs and use 5cpns ($1 each or example) then they should all double and my total being only tax, correct? I shouldnt have to purchase anything else since "shelf" price would be over the $25 threshold? Let me know, THANKS!

    • Patty says

Kierstien that has never worked for me. The $10 is deducted as soon as you hit 8 boxes so that will probably bring you under the $25. You will probably need another $9-$10 depending on the price of the cereal. Good luck if it works for you!

      • Kierstien says

patty do you shop at lakeville? because i know when i did the genrel mills deal and it took the $10 off my total was $16 before any cpns and i still got cpns dbled

    • Chrissy says

It depends on what brand is doing the deal. Kellog's it was after the $10 General Mills was before the $10 was taken off.

  7. Dawn says

The Rainbow ad that I rec'd on thursday last week has some additional deals.

Pillsbury Biscuits or Crescents 10/10.00 If you buy 6 you will get a voucher for 4.00 off your next shopping trip.

BOGO Free Palermo's Rising crust Pizza (save up to 4.99 on two) no coupon

Crystal Farms Shredded or Chunk Cheese 3/4.98 (save up to 4.47 on three)

Pillsbury Valentine Cookies 2/5.00 (save .98 on two)

Jello Pudding or Gelatins Snacks 3/7.98 (save up to 3.09 on three) I have 1.00 off two coupon for these.

Some Roundys brand items as well.

    Good luck

  8. Cath says

I've posted this everywhere I've seen Rainbow couponers online: FYI- there is a Gold Bond Manufacturer's coupon in this week's Rainbow ad – $4 off of 2. It does not exclude trial sizes, so it can be used on trial sizes at other stores, like Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc.

  9. Angie says

There is an insert in most papers or Saturday flyers that are good for Rainbow's in YOUR area.

For instance, the 2 lb. bag of white rice is 1.89 in most stores, in WSP it's 1.29 this week.

  10. Kierstien says

This week i am planning on buying Jacks pizza! On sale for $1.99 plus .40cpn in 1/24ss instert! $1.59 but if you double q then $1.19

  11. Kierstien says

Does anyone know if Rainbow pharmacy accepts competitor cpns? I have two perscriptions I need filled and if i could get rainbow gift cards i'd fill it there! Please help!

  12. katie says

I am new to this. Can you do 2 transactions back to back or do you need to go out to the car and drop your items off and then come back inside? Is the store busy at 6 am? Otherwise I will wait until after work at 5. Can I still find most coupon ites if I wait until then? Thanks for the help!!

    • Theresa K. says

It depends on your store and how busy it is. Each store is different. After a couple visits, you'll know the rhythm of your store.

Coupons items can be out as soon as lunch. You can always ask for a raincheck and buy it the next Wednesday. Have back up coupons ready!

      Hope this helps!

  13. Jae says

the official rainbow policy is that the total of your order must be $25 after the cashier hit the total button. some stores and cashiers go by the shelf price and other stores and cashier go by the sale price. just to be safe, i usually go the the sale price.

  14. Erin says

Be careful with the Kellogg's/Keebler products. I mistakenly grabbed two cereal boxes that I thought were part of the deal, but were not $2.50 and so didn't end up getting the deal.

  15. Rachel J. says

Also, from my experience, Rainbow does something sneaky: For deals like the Kelloggs deal they make the sale price the shelf price.

However, the $20 counts towards your $25 total, even though you get $10 off instantly. So, you would probably need to spend an additional $5 :) HTH!

    • Kierstien says

Okay so I am guessing this is based on store to store because some poeple are saying the $20 will go towards the $25 threshhold and others are saying only the $10 will go towards it…hmmm i may chance it.

  16. Susie says

Is my math correct? So let's say you were going to buy the 8 Keebler cookies @ $2.50 each. If you included the shelf price, you'd qualify for the $25 threshold for double coupons. Use 5 of the $1/1 man. coupons. Total purchase price would be $20, take off $10 for buying 8 Kellogs, and take off $10 in the doubled coupons….does this make them free???

    • Sarah Beth says

This "depends" on a few things – 1) if your store will double based off shelf price or based off sale price 2) if your store decided to "adjust" the shelf price for this week to $2.50 and 3) if you can find five $1/1 coupons. But yes, IF the shelf price exceeds 25 and if you have five $1/1 coupons this might work for you. But often the stores get sneaky and adjust the shelf price to say $2.50 which will make you spend an extra $5 to get to the 25.

    • Alison says

Susie – see Rachel J.'s post a couple above yours – her experience has been my experience as well, where you have to buy about $5 more to get to the $25 threshhold.

  17. SarahBB says

Question about Kelloggs deal– can we use the BOGO Special K printable that was recently posted— for this deal OR would it count as an freebie internet coupon that Rainbow will no longer take–technically we are buying something. . .

    • Kierstien says

my guess is you cant because when the milk coupon was out there they would not accept it even tho you were buying something.

  18. Kierstien says

Does anyone know where i can get a copy of the rainbow ad from last thursday? where on the back has the deals good through tomorrow? Or anyone that can scan it and send it to me? my email is kierstienafetzek at gmail dot com

Thanks i would appreciate it greatly!

  19. Sarah Beth says

Starting to see trends (after doing this for about 9 months). The coupons tend to fit the season. Lots of "back to school" in the fall, lots of baking around the holidays, right now it seems like lots of "entertaining/football party" items and Carrie already mentioned lots of oatmeal.

    • Anne says

No, I don't believe so. I believe it is one per household. You can check the fine print, though and see what it says before you buy the "extra" ones.

  20. Anne says

When I first began couponing about 9 months ago, I went ahead and did four transactions at once. With Carrie's urging to be kind to those behind you in line, I cut back on two transactions at a time, using the dividing plastic thingy between them and letting the cashier know I had two transactions. I'd then bring them out to my car and come back for more! I'm glad I'm doing it this way. It works well, and recently a woman behind me was boasting on how much she was saving by couponing. She had her cart piled high and said proudly that she was doing four transactions!!! Inwardly, I groaned, and wondered if that was how I had looked.

I actually believe it is easier to limit myself to two transactions at a time. I get to get a breath of fresh air between each set of transactions; I already have my coupon stash, water bottle, purse and reuseable bags in my cart, and if I think my cart drives stinky, I can swap it out for a new one!

Hope that helps! It's not all about getting a great deal and getting in and out as fast as possible. Courtesy goes a long way!!!!

  21. Korene says

I noticed this a couple weeks ago too with the Hamburger Helper at the Cottage Grove store. I was surprise to see the shelf price as 10/10.00. Then I check on it the following week and it was that weeks sale price. So I find it hard to pick out my $25 minimum ahead of times in situations like this where they may change the shelf price.

  22. rachael says

Still curious to know how our coupons will double in "deal idea #1"….I can't see how this total will be anywhere near $25.

    • says

Rachael – You're right. I guess I had an unspoken assumption and that was that you add enough fillers to be sure you get to $25. I doubt you'll need much since the sale price is over $15, I bet the full price is around $20.

  23. Traci says

I am not able to find the promise spread or the ALL laundry coupon carrie mentioned that should be in the 1/31 RP

  24. JoannaV says

    A few more freebies/cheapies:

I Can't Believe Its Not Butter 2/$4 – there are $1 off coupon on their website making it free after doubled. This is also included in the Unilever deal.

Frigo string cheese $2.99 – there is a $1 off coupon on frigocheeseheads. com making it .99.

Freshlike veggies – $1/ea. – there is a $1/3 coupon on freshlike.com – making veggies .33 per bag after doubled coupon.

Manwich – $1/can – there was a buy 2 get 1 free coupon in All You magazine (I believe it was December or January) There is also a $1/2 coupon in the Con Agra coupon book that Carrie talked about signing up for a few weeks ago.

In store ad – Totino's pizzas $1 – use $1/5 (in a previous Sunday insert – sorry I don't know which one) making them $3/5 pizzas.

  25. Rachel J. says

Just to clarify about your earlier post, if the shelf price is the sale price (which from my many experience at Rainbow, it always is) then you would NOT reach the $25 threshold simply by buying the Kelloggs products. $2.50 shelf/sale price x 8 = $20.

But, I've really only found this to be true with the cereal deal. Other times, like when I got TONS of free coffee filters, they were on sale $10/10 but the shelf price was like $1.66, so it varies :)

    Good luck everyone!

  26. Julie W says

Something worth mentioning that I haven't seen on here yet….

Nortons Salt saver pellets are 5/20$ must by 5, limit 5

    Deal idea!

buy five, use two $1/2 from coupons.com (search household)

    Pay $16 for 5 bags , or 3.20 a bag.

This is the cheapest I have found, I don't think these get much cheaper. Can anyone comment on this price?

Plus you will easily be at your 25$ threshold and have 3 coupons you could add and still double.

    • Erin Rose says

They had a deal like this months ago…. like early fall. I thought it sounded like the same deal we did, but my husband said we got it cheaper than that. I looked back at previous list's on here we got those bags for $2 after double coupons. Its still a good price as those bags usually are $5 each. But my hubby says for us to hold off on them.

  27. says

here's a link for $1/1 oscar meyer bologna – at pickn'save this is on sale 10/$10 – so $1 each….free bologna!! (can't beat free) – just wanted to share (if nobody beat me to it!)

  28. Kierstien says

Can anyone that still has last weeks insert from thursday tell me the "deals" on the back that are still go through tomorrow? Mine got thrown away before i could even look at it last week :(

is the pilsbury deal 10/10 still good? carrie? laura? anyone?

  29. Laura Wales says

Kierstien, I'm going to check this deal out tomorrow and I'll let ya'll know. I do know that the "Buy 6, get $4 OYNO" is good until 2/21.

    • Laura Wales says

Yes, the Pillsbury 10 for $10 deal is still good and should work with the buy X, get $X OYNO deal. The biscuits/rolls that are $1 are the really small (I think 4ct) size.

  30. Tammy says

    CoonRapids Rainbow shoppers FYI:

They are no longer giving you overage on doubled coupons. The coupon will only double up to the shelf price.

  31. Nikki says

It should have started to be announced in the stores yesterday via the ads they play between the music but I don't think anything printed has officially come out yet to us … just a memo to the store employees.

  32. Terry says

I beleive this saturday is the start of double coupons for saturdays. It is supposed to run every week Wed and Sat till April. I will give more detial when I find out.

  33. Shannon says

The maple grove Rainbow also will not give an overage if the $ amount of the item does not exceed the doubled vlaue. So last week my $1.89 item only doubled to $1.89 and the $1.29 items to $1.29 (that was the full shelf price).

  34. Tracee says

Carrie since they give you 10.00 off right away does it only count as 10.00 of your purchase and not 20.00?

Also was there this morning.. you to earn money off your next shopping trip the dollar amt has to total 15 or 20 after coupons!!! This is the first time I ran into this

    • says

Tracee – Previous weeks when they've run the Kelloggs deal the cereals have counted as $20. I haven 't been there today to confirm for myself, but it sounds (from Nate) like it is working that same way this week.

  35. Becca says

Pick 'n Save only requires $5 more over 8 boxes of cereal to make doubling work. So the $10 counts like a coupon and doesn't short your total. Did it 3 times this morning!

  36. Nate says

Good first trip this morning. Got the 8 boxes of Kellogg's cereal (with no coupons unfortunately, but we're in desperate need of cereal) and did the Unilever deal to get $7 off my next purchase. Spent $23 for $62 worth of groceries and will get $7 off my purchase that I'll make on my way home today. I would have saved and extra 75 cents, but I accidentally cut off the expiration date from one of my coupons and they wouldn't take it. Oops!

    • Tracee says

did you use coupons on the Unilever deal? My Rainbow in Blaine did not print out the 7.00 and they said it was because I used coupons on that product

  37. Shelly says

Okay, here's the GREAT deal I just happened to notice at Rainbow today – which will make my teenage son very happy. Our Rainbow (West End) had the biggest boxes of Bagel Bites on clearance for 75% off. Instead of $8.69, they were $2.17. Wish I'd had one of those $1 off coupons they often have available because then it would have been 17 cents!

  38. Julie W says

Thanks so much Erin! I didn't realize there was a better deal out there, we've had this discussion b efore in threads and it didn't come up.

Thanks for reminding me I can use the search box to look for previous deals on a product that have been listed here!

  39. rachael says

Thanks Carrie! My husband did it this morning…I just made sure to hit $25 by adding some things, so he spent 9 something and got back the $7 OYNO…he'll be getting the kellog's deal and toilet paper with that on his way home! :) BTW- saw you on TCL…good job! (even though that dumb magazine wouldn't stay on the rack…haha! =D)

      • rachael says

We shop the Woodbury and Oakdale Rainbows. I think my husband had stopped at the woodbury one this morning with the first list. What didn't work for you?

  40. Aleta says

I'm new to this and have just done printable coupons so far since I don't get a newspaper. But I've noticed several items I'd like to pick up this week that had coupons in the 1/31 paper — is it still possible to buy Sunday's paper somewhere so I can get these coupon inserts?

  41. lynda burwitz-nelsen says

Someone mentioned the oscar mayer bologna being free after the 1/1 printable—wrong size (12 oz is on sale and the coupon is for 16 oz size)

  42. Tracee says

the Unilever deal. they said I had to spend out of pocket 15.00 or 20.00 to get the deal.

I did my shopping my total was 10.81 (after coupons) and I did not get the ticket for 5.00 or 7.00 off your next shopping order, because I did not spend 15.00 or 20.00 out of pocket.. but you said your husband spent 9.00 and got the coupon for your next shopping order

  43. Katie says

    Hmm…posted in the wrong spot.

I just found an All coupon!1/3 RedPlum insert #1 toward the back…$3/2 all deterg. HTH!

  44. rachael says

yep…he did. That's weird…I would think the register would automatically "spit" it out. Sorry!! I know how dissappointing that is….maybe you could take your receipt in and see if they can help you at customer services??

  45. Lauren says

I just went to the Rainbow in Roseville, and I bought the Organix shampoo & conditioner. They rang up as being 1/2 off… 3.49/each, instead of B1G1. So with the mail-in rebate coupon, I'll only be getting back 3.49. Still a good deal, but not as good as free. Just wanted to share. I only picked out one that had a coupon – trying to leave some for others! But if I had known they would ring up like this, I would have gotten coupons for both.

  46. Lisa says

Nate – Are we looking for a cat or a printed coupon on the receipt? That always gets me – the PG deal was like that and I went to CS took 10 minutes figuring it out then realized it was on the receipt.

  47. Paige says

The Keebler Fudge Shoppe Cheesecake Middles weren't part of the 8/$10 deal at the Apple Valley Rainbow. Has anyone else had luck with this being part of the deal?

  48. Nichole says

Rainbow in Blaine, Northtown. Does not give the $10 off kelloggs if coupons are used and will not give $5 on unilever if coupons are used. Total waste of time. Will not shop at Rainbow again.

  49. JoannaV says

I was just at Rainbow and they have flyers at the registers and a big sign when you walk in the door – it's true!

  50. Shannon says

In reference to the Unilever promotion; does anyone know if the Eagan or Inver Grove Rainbow wiil print off the $7 catalina if you use coupons?

  51. Heather says

Hi everyone. Just came upon this deal at Rainbow in Coon Raids today: Loreal kids Ice Age shampoo on clearance for $1.59…use .75 coupon doubled to get it for .09!!

  52. Kierstien says

Anyone shop at lakeville cub today? Do you know if they give you kellogs deal w/cpns and/or unilever w/cpns? I would like to know b efore i go there? Thanx

  53. Shannon says

For those of you in need of enrgy star bulbs The Rainbow in Eagan and Inver Grove has the GE Energy Smart bulbs for $1 each not sure about the other stores though.. There is a $1 off two coupon available here:

This would give you two free bulbs after doubling the coupon. You can print the coupon twice.

  54. Erin says

I'm new to this. Can I use more than 5 coupons but only the first 5 are doubled or can I only use 5 coupons total, doubled or not?

  55. Jonna says

I just did the Unilever deal at Brooklyn Park and it did print out the $7 off, but for some reason the total was 9.18, instead of 7.68. I think because the promise coupon did not double. Still a good deal overall.

  56. Shelly says

Erin, you can use as many coupons as you want, but only 5 are doubled. So be sure to hand your highest value coupons to the cashier first because they double in the order in which you give them to her/him.

  57. Rachel J. says

    Hi everyone,

I'm not trying to question you Nichole, but most of the things people post on here is not true. Like not being able to use coupons on the promotion they have? If a cashier really told you that, I'd suggest you try a different cashier or call over the manger. Or, there was an earlier post about not getting the $5 or $7 CAT simply because you used coupons – again that is NOT true. I know this from experience shopping at Rainbow, although I guess YMMV depending on what store you go to.

I was at the Bloomington Rainbow today – and they were stocked pretty well. Just a heads up that I did find the Ragu for $3.29 shelf price (it was a bigger jar and was ORGANIC- can you believe it?), although most shelf prices were $2.29- so beware when making your deal scenarioes.

I did the Unilever deal, used coupons, spent about $4 and got back a $5 CAT. Pretty good!

I also did the cereal deal and bough 4 deans dips, all for only $4!

(I used 2, $1/3 cereal coupons and 1, $1/2 cereal coupon along with 2 of the Dean's coupons for $1/2 which brought me over the $25 threshold and they were free)

    • Kierstien says

Thanks rachel! I sometimes get caught up on the "talk" thanks for opening my eyes!!! My rainbow is usually GREAT so I just need to trust that!

Could you please tell me what you got for the unilever deal to spend only $4?

Also does anyone if you can use the unilever OYNO cpn to do the deal again? So if i got $15 worth of products got the $5 catalina and turned around and did it again and use the $5 cat. would i get another??? or no?

  58. Kierstien says

To make sure I give them my first 5 highest value cpns first then once they all dbl i give the rest. Because I've heard a few stories where cashiers mess the "pile" up. So i never wanna take any chances so give 5 first then the rest! Good Luck :)

  59. Kierstien says

Ahhh planning my trip right now! I am a last min girl :) will go at 7pm 2nite my rainbow is so relaxing by then!

Hope there is cereal left…if not can i get a rainchekc

    • Shelly says

You're probably smart to do that, Kierstan! This way you can read all the comments and get any other deals/problems/, etc! I usually go right after work (12:30 pm). Not good because I'm hungry : ) But today my afternoon was very busy, so I decided to go at 7 am. Great time because the store is VERY quiet. However, the downside is that there was only 1 cashier and the self-checks weren't even open, so I felt I needed to let some folks with one item go in front of me. Finally, they did open the self checks and another one. Otherwise, this is when I feel very guilty using coupons! The other downside to 7 am is that their salad bar isn't even open yet. I buy Blue Cheese sprinkles to go on my home salads for the week, and never spend more than .20 – .40 a week on those sprinkles : )

  60. Rachel J. says

Sure, I can tell you exactly what I got.

(*Oh and after reading my last post, $3.29 shelf price, and $1.50 on sale of course)

Here is what I did for the unilever deal:

4 Wishbone spray dressing ($1.59 sale, $2.79 shelf price)

4 Ragu organic pasta sauces- ($1.50 sale price, $3.39 shelf price)

2 skippy peanut butters ($1.50 sale price, $2.29 shelf price)

So to get to $25, here it is:

    $2.79×4 = $11.16

    $3.39×4= $13.56

    $2.29×2 = $4.58

For a grand total of: $29.30 shelf price

    To get the Unilever deal:

    $6 Ragu (sale price)

    $3 Skippy (sale price)

    Total= $15.36, so I got the $5 CAT

Then, I doubled 5 of the coupons:

    Ragu: 2, $1/2 coupons

    WishBone: 4, $1/1 coupons

    Skippy: 1, .75/2 coupons

I doubled 5, $1 coupons and then just took off the rest

$15.36-$10, then deduct .75 and $1 (that was not doubled)

    Total OOP: $3.61

Let me know if that is confusing. It can be because I had to reach $25 shelf price to double mu coupons as well as reach $15 in certain products to get the $5 CAT.

  61. says

Did anyone try using the 1.50/2 boxes of Kelloggs? The cashier at the Eagan Rainbow refused to take them because they were internet coupons over $1. I have never had an issue with them before today.

  62. Cara says

I've often wondered the same thing since we don't get the paper. Does anyone know where or how to get the Sunday paper on Mon or Tues?

  63. Eva says

Just came back from Rainbow … good shopping and GREAT news!! The Rainbow in Coon Rapids is offering double coupon Saturdays (in addition to Wednesdays) this saturday and on the 12th too! Happy valentine's Day for EVERYONE!!!

  64. Shelly says

I took a chance and got the peanut butter in the middle ones instead, and the two $1 off coupons worked fine for those. That was nice (although I would have preferred to get the cheesecake variety!!!)

  65. melanie says

I just came from the Eagan Rainbow and DID NOT get the Unilver catalina. I spent over $20 before coupons buying 4 peanut butter, 2 ragu, 4 dressings, 3 Knorr sides, 2 soup mixes, etc. I went to customer service and was told if you did not spend the $15 or $20 after coupons you would not get the $5 or $7?? :(

Anyone have any further details on this why it works for some and not others?

  66. Kristi says

That's why my $10 off wouldn't work! But the shelf did say it was on the promotion!!! The supervisor came over and just took $10 off my bill! and I used my coupon, I had to go read my receipt after what I read here and UGH, it says $3.39 Plus I got diced tomatoes that said 50% off I read the sticker carefully and they said reg. price. Does anyone else constanly have issues of them overcharging you? I am always going back to get my $ back!

    • Valerie Y says

Yes, I had this happen to me once with some Senseo coffee. The tag read that it was 50% off (2.22) but it rang up at 4.50. I was talking to the cashier as she rang it up and didn't notice, but I did go back to the customer service and get my money. It also happened to me with a sales item from their flyer. Can't remember what it was. So it seems like we really have to be observant as we watch things ring up!

  67. Kierstien says

Thanks! I only have two of the $1/3 so i needed another q for the deal! Thanks :) also rebate…i'll look for that!

  68. Kristi says

I did 2 transactions today and overall paid .99 an item X44 items I mainly did a stock up trip

6 cereal, 8 crackers, 2 fruit snacks, 1 cookie, 1 granola bar, bbq sauce, 2 western, 2 pb, 2 ragu, 2 big cans of chili & kidney beans, 2 diced tomato, 2 wheat bread, tomato sauce, 2 cat treats, 2 pizzas, ice cream, hot pocket hot shots, onion, lettuce, wonton wraps, string cheese, fruitables juice boxes. and I should get back some $ for over charge on cookies and diced tomatoes, plus my 1.25/2 cereal coupon didn't work cashier must not of noticed. I also got a few veggies at aldi this wk for real cheap. I think I did ok, but hope to get better! And I also got no catalina on my unilever products.

  69. Kristi says

I got one at the dollar tree once on a monday or tuesday, it just depends if they sold out or if star collected i suppose. (I believe they only sell papers on Sunday)

  70. Erin Lynn says

I called my local Rainbow (Forest Lake) and asked if I would still get the cat from the unilever deal if I used coupons. The customer service lady assured me I would as it is based off shelf price. So, I am going tonight and we will see!

    • Susie says

I visited the Forest Lake Rainbow this morning. I used coupons and my cat printed off. It was delayed in printing, but my cashier caught it before I left…thank goodness! :)

  71. Rachel J. says

The only thing that I can think of is that they told you that because they didn't know what else to tell you.

The two things I think of that could have made it not print:

    1) their printer was out of paper for the CATs to print off

    2) maybe for a few of the items you bought the wrong size or variety, so it really did not add up to your $20 (you need to be very careful and make sure you are getting the right size, etc.)

    That really stinks!

  72. Barb says

Good luck at Rainbow Eagan today. Came out better than I first calculated. Thanks to the blogger who gave me the heads up on the Gold Bond Q in Rainbows insert for $4 good on any size. Today on a display they had moisturizing GB hand sanitizer for $1.29, I bought 2 and had overage. Here is what I bought:

9 (because of Q's) kelloggs products $22.50 – in store Kelloggs promo of $10 off- Manf Q's of $6 off (3 – $1manf Q's doubled, and 1 catalina from Rainbow for $2 off 3 Frosted flakes which would not double)

    4 Deans Dips $4, Free with 2 – $1 Manf Q's doubled

1 Sargentto Cheese $1.99 used .50 cent Q not eligble for double

2 Triscuits @$1.99 with 2-$1Q's not eligble for double (DND Q's)

2 Gold Bond Ult. hand sanitizers for 1.29 each used $4 in ad Q

Used the Unilever catalina for $7.00 off next purchase from previous transaction.

And had to add a Butterfinger for .50 cents since they would not give me cash back.

Spent .05 cents out of pocket.

  73. Barb says

    Unilever Purchase today:

    8 Ragu sauce $12

    12 Knorr Sides $12

    Ice Cream .99cents

    2 Country Crock B1G1 spread $3.89

Manf Q's Doubled came to $12.75

Total OOP $16.13 plus the catalina spit out of $7 good on next purchase. (see above the next purchase was only 5 cents.)

  74. Terry says

Nichole- The register takes off the $10 when you scan that last eligable Kelloggs item. Its not because you use coupons. You could of got the wrong item on 1 of your items. And that will mess everything up. Since you have to buy 8 products that are with that promotion. I would check over your receipt.

  75. Kari says

In today's Pioneer Press there was a Rainbow ad saying they're doubling coupons on Saturday until the middle of April. I work on Wed. and don't have a Rainbow close by so I'm hoping to start making trips there on Saturdays now.

  76. Erin Rose says

So I wasnt planning on going to Rainbow today. But, as I was running errands, I kept thinking about the Totinos pizzas that were on sale. They are my hubbys FAVORITE pizza and to get 5 for only $3 after double coupon was a great deal. They are usually $1.25 at Target or Walmart. So to get them for 60cents each was a great price! We are well stocked right now. I'm so thankful we have 2 big freezers!

I didnt do any of the other deals that you all are doing.

I wonder what people thought with my 15 pizzas, 4 12-packs of pop, donuts, yogurt, and butter? ;-)

  77. Jenn says

Hi Tracy I'm pretty sure it was either in the 1/24 or 1/31 insert. Not sure which one but guessing SS. I always clip my coupons or at least the ones I think I will use.

And thanks for letting us know, Heather! They were also 50% at the Roseville Rainbow, so I got two of these for just .09 each!!! They even smell great! I tend to get Suave kids because with coupons they can be really cheap, but nothing beats this price :)

  78. Valerie Y says

Is it all CVS stores that accept expired's, or only certain ones? Do you know? Thanks, I never knew they took expired ones.

  79. Lynn says

I was wondering if the Keebler cheesecake in the middle cookies are part of the Keebler deal at some of the Rainbows. I went to one in Cottage Grove and they were not. I was a little bummed because I had two $1 off coupons but still had a great trip at Rainbow this week. I am getting better each week and for the first time thought I made it really worth it. Thanks everyone for all the great tips.

    • Shelly says

Lynn, they weren't part of the deal at my Rainbow. I took a chance and bought 2 of the kind with peanut butter in the middle instead. I knew they were okay for the Kellogg's $10 deal, but didn't know if my 2 $1 off coupons would work. But they worked just fine. I have found that sometimes, those really specific coupons end up working okay for other items (like a real specific flavor of a certain product I mean).

  80. Barb says

I love Rainbow Double Q days, Anybody wanna trade diaper coupons for nutrigrain bars, cat treats, jello or Aussie/Pantene/Garnier Shampoo/Cond Q's? (Eagan, Apple Valley, Burnsville area) Reply here and I will contact you back.

1 -$3 Target Q for Huggies snug and dry exp 2/5

    3 – $1.50 Manf Q's for Huggies Overnights exp 2/13

  81. Lisa says

I used the $1.50/2 Kellogg's cereals (Internet coupon) at the RB off of 169 and Highway 55 and it worked great! Also got that $10 deal – my husband was amazed at all I saved today. Also used the Chinet, Cottonelle and Dean's Dips coupons.

Thanks Carrie! This is my new favorite website!

  82. Nicki says

Carrie, I talked to a Rainbow customer service rep (Eagan, MN) last night and she said starting this Saturday through April 11th I believe, they are doing double coupons every Saturday as well.

    Hope that helps!

  83. raine says

I went to Rainbow in Blaine, Northtown and brought $20 in unilever products, did not receive my $7 on next order. Was told by Customer service that your total on the unilever products needed to add up to $15 after coupons.

  84. Eva says

Yup I stand corrected … the double coupon runs at all Rainbows statrting this Saturday through April 20th! AND WEDNESDAYS too!!! Time to buy a lot more papers!! And I did the Unilever deal and got my cat …

  85. Becky says

I went to the Maple Grove Rainbow and did the Unilever deal but the catalina didn't come up for me. I went to Customer Service and they didn't know anything about the deal but told me that I probably needed a Roundy's Reward Card to get it. Is that true?

  86. says

Becky – I threw out my weekly ad so I can't confirm whether you need a Roundy's card or not. I'm sorry that you had a disappointing experience. 99% of the people at Maple Grove are fabulous, but sometimes the people in Customer Service there are less than helpful. I did the Unilever deal at Maple Grove without a problem.

  87. Michelle says

I had an amazing cashier tonight, same one that I had last week, she was SO helpful and friendly, I will always make sure to visit her line on Wednesday evenings! I did three separate transactions and she didn't bat an eye, she even complimented my math skills when one of them was $25.11 before coupons. =)

I spent $43.10 and saved $67.82, I think that's the best I've done so far. (on one of my 3 transactions I spent $10.09 and saved $30.77, that's over 75%, yay!)

  88. Angela P says

I went to the Lakeville Rainbow tonight and got great results. I had a total of 4 transactions and only spent $56.38 on a total of $154.78 worth of groceries. My best transaction was 8 boxes of the Kebler products for only $1.50. That made then only 18 cents each. Made my night!!

Can't wait to go back again on Saturday. Does anyone know it the same coupon policy applies as on Wednesdays? (5 doubled coupons per $25 purchase)

  89. MP says

There was a coupon for Club crackers in the 1/31 Parade magazine and those were included in the Kelloggs/Keebler deal. I wasn't going to post this since it's so late, but now I know you can use it on Sat. YEAH!

Also, for those of you who got the coupon for free Oreos from Facebook, you CAN use them at Rainbow- just be sure to point out that they are NOT printed coupons (they look like it on the front, but the back is different. I just showed them the whole page that was mailed to me. (I asked about this at my rainbow- the quarry- after leaving another rainbow-AV- in frustration for not taking my coupon)

  90. Dawn says

In the St. Paul Pioneer Press today there is a notice that Rainbow will double coupons on Saturdays from Feb.6-April 10. This is in addition to the Wednesdays. So watch for the 3 day ad and see if more deals are available. I tossed mine so will dig it out of recycle bin to check it out. Of course the deals I didn't get on Wednesday I can now get on Saturday!

  91. Lisa says

Alright not to rub salt in anyones wound who went to the Blaine Rainbow but my mom did get a catalina for the Unilever deal and she used coupons. I haven't done the math on anything but i tried to ask her quickly what she got –

    2 Country Crock – 1q

    2 Ragu – 1q

    2 Skippy – 1q

    3 Knorr – 1q

    2 Lipton – 1q

Based on the prices above that's 15.58 (counting the country crock twice). All her coupons doubled as well. She may have bought a bigger size country crock because I know she usually does but even with that at a higher price her total should have been less than $15 with coupons.

I think that the previous post that said someone who was working there might not have know what was going on and just made up the after coupons. Maybe one of the items wasn't set to be included in the deal and the register missed it????

  92. Lisa says

3.99 – not B1G1 at CR last night. I did some scoping since I know I can come in on Saturday if I want to. Made last night must more laid back in what I wanted to accomplish.

  93. Susan says

West St. Paul Rainbow is also doubling on Saturdays for a few weeks (the supervisor, however, made it sound like it may run longer than posted).

  94. Susan says

I feel bad that you had a bad experience. I had not problems using coupons on the products, got the $7, dropped off my first batch of groceries and went back for the $10 off Kelloggs offer. This week I managed to save about 67%! Spent $30 and save $65! I love this website!!

  95. Susan says

West St. Paul will! I used coupons on each of the products and still get the $7 off next order. You could try it on Sat when they'll double coupons again! I did go through the self check area, but the supervisor had to hand enter all the coupons so I don't think that was the reason I got the double coupons and $7 off next order.

  96. Susan says

I have been told – haven't personally checked – that Strib HQ downtown has the past 7 days in machines in their lobby & the Sundays do still include the inserts. HTH!

  97. Kristi says

My unilever items were on my 1st transaction, and w/ the second I had to wait for the kellogs deal to be taken off manually, only things I got were oil change coupons, hot pocket coupons a bummer, but life goes on. =)

  98. Kierstien says

  99. Becky says

Thanks Carrie! I am going to try customer service again and see what they say. I have had good experiences with Rainbow so far outside of this time. You had come to our couponing class in MG and I decided to give Rainbow a try (I am a diehard Cub Foods fan) and been pleasantly surprised. Not ready to write Rainbow off just yet because of this. On to my next deal…

  100. Andrea says

Does anyone know if you can do the Rainbow Kellogg's deal twice and get $20 off (in one transaction)??? Thanks…

  101. Jonna says

I had the same thing. I kind of delayed in anticipation, which worked. I am planning another trip for tomorrow to get some other things. I'm wondering though, if I use my $7 off from Wed tomorrow if it will print another cat for $5 off if I purchase another 15 in Unilever. My plan is to purchase $15 in Unilever to be able to get the 5 off and still meet my $25 to be able to double coupons. I'm doing this with 4 Liption Onion soup, 2 Dove hair products (2/7 with 1.50 coupons in RP 1/31), and 2 skippy. I figured it out that this would be 15.16 with 7 dollars in coupons (when doubled) and my 7 off next purchase. Plus I'm going to be getting Frank's hot sauce with a .50/1 and Dannon Light and Fit $1/6 printable. This should get the total over 25 shelf price, if not, I'll add a couple fillers. Otherwise, I may have to change my game plan.

  102. Alison says

Great week at Rainbow – spent $45.05 OOP for $195.65 worth of groceries. Did the Kelloggs cereal/cracker deal a few times since we were almost out of cereal and now we have a ton of Special K cereal…at least it's a decent cereal to eat.

  103. Jonna says

That sounds like another case of making something up to get you to stop asking questions. I carefully looked over the ad and it does not say anything about a Roundy's card. It also does say that it is the participating products pictured in the ad, but the OYNO Q lists other participating products. Has anyone tried it with some other things listed on there for another purchase? I'm going to try it with Dove hair care products tomorrow since it's listed on the OYNO as participating, but is not pictured. Also, can you use the ONYO and get another printed off the next transaction? Or is it like Walgreen's where you can pay with one and get another one, or however that works?

I did talk with the customer service at Northtown Rainbow. I was unable to wait for the manager, there was a problem with one of the cookies that I bought and was doubled charged for them. The unilever was also a problem at the Northtown shop. I will try Coon Rapids next time. Customer service at the time that I wanted my receipt checked was on the phone discussing this matter with another customer, she looked frustrated and disappointed herself. Thanks

At some stores the coupon prints on the receipt and at others it prints a catalina. Roseville prints cats, Maplewood prints on the receipt. At least it did with the Kraft cheese deal…
