Update: Weirdest thing. The Refreshment Recess website looks like it has been hijacked and someone has put a totally different thing on it. I removed the links from this post for now, but I’ll keep periodically checking it. In the meantime, you can certainly call your local store and see if they are participating.
Weekdays between 2pm and 5pm participating McDonalds are hosting Refreshment Recess, where you can get 2-for-1 Cokes, bottled water, Powerade, coffee, lattes, mochas and cappucinos. You can mix and match your favorite drinks and the lower priced one will be free.
I suspect their goal is that you come in for a free drink valued at $2 and spend $10 on a happy meal, another burger for yourself and two ice cream cones, or some other combination of food that outweighs the value of the free beverage. Keep that in mind before you drive through to get your 2-for-1 beverages.
Call a McDonalds near you to confirm they are participating.
Thanks Smart Couponing!
Your turn: Will 2-for-1 beverages get you to stop into McDonalds one afternoon?

The first two links take me to a red page that says “Moroch” and has no details about McD’s. Ideas?
Hmmm. Looks like the McDonald’s website has been hijacked.
Wild! about the MCDonalds site. The links worked this morning when I checked them and then copied them into this post. I’ll update the post to remove the links for now.
I just called the Champlin McDonalds and they knew nothing about this promotion.
The St. Cloud stores know nothing as well – stated they don’t even sell bottled powerade or water, just fountain.
The Edina McDonald’s knew nothing about it either.
Howdy Couponers – I work with Moroch, so I wanted to provide a little clarity as to why you may be getting directed to our site. We handle advertising for McDonald’s in 60 + local markets across the country, and actually built the Refreshment Recess “microsite” about a year ago. Unfortunately, the promotion is no longer going on, so we took the site down recently. That said, this promotion could vary by market, so as Carrie mentioned, it might be a good idea to call your local McDonald’s and see if they are still running the promotion. Sorry again for any confusion this may have caused.
Thanks for the clarification, Chad!
Thanks for the clarification Chad!
Beware any McDonalds coupons, as they do not honor them. Awhile back there was a coupon on the coupons.com site ( a reputable site) for McDonalds. It was a buy an angus burger and get a medium fries and pop free. I was told at the White Bear township store that “We can not accept these coupons because anybody can print them.” Well duh, isn’t that the point of the internet coupon. Needless to say, even though it’s shamrock shake time (my absolute favorite), in consideration of my new diet and how extremely ticked off I was, I will not be going back to McDonalds.
