Cub Shopping List 2/21 – 2/27/10

Other than the Hormel Always Tender Boneless Pork Ribs and Chinet Plates (if you have the right expired coupon) there aren’t too many exciting deals this week at Cub Foods, at least not that I see.

You may notice that some of the coupons mentioned in this list are expired. That is because Cub stores accept coupons up to 3 months past their expiration date (and in some cases up to 5 or 6 months past). If you are new to Pocket Your Dollars, then learn to read this shopping list. If you are having issues, troubleshoot problems printing coupons here.

I’m not sure that the Oreo deal will work. I tried something similar a few weeks ago at my Cub with Herbal Essences coupons I had (I had a coupon for a free product and a buy one, get one free coupon) and they refused to allow me to do it.

  2. Mary

Regarding the Oreo deal, I have yet to encounter a store that will let me use 2 manufacturer’s coupson like that.
After this week, no more Cub Foods in St. Cloud. I’m going to miss getting the deals, even though I hated shopping there!

    1. steve

What is happening to the Cub in St. Cloud?

      1. Kierstien

they are changing them into cash wise

  3. GeogChick

My kids LOVE Pilsbury Toaster Strudles – they are $1.99 this week at Cub – AND I used a $1/1 coupon from Pilsbury web site. I googled Toaster Strudle coupon and got the link, could only print two. But I got two boxes (8 count) for $2 and am happy! There is another coupon out there (I think .55/2) which would be good doubled at Rainbow if the price is under 1.99

And generic olive oil isn’t much over $7 so I think that is a great deal for name brand olive oil! better for using with salad dressing or dipping where taste matters more.

Keep up the great work!! THANKS!!!

  4. Priscilla

There is a $1.00 off Fresh Express Salad coupon that was available in that coupon booklet that was available at Cub (strawberries in hand). It is a DND coupon.

    1. Laura Wales

Priscilla, is this currently in stores? Is it a Cub coupon or a manufacturer coupon?

    2. Priscilla

It is a MFG coupon & yes it is currently availalbe. I picked up a couple more of them on Friday.
At my store, Forest Lake, they were on a display near the organic milk, cheese area.

      1. Laura Wales

        Thanks!

  5. Dawn M

Palermo’s Classic Pizza coupon link doesn’t work? Anyone else have a problem?

  6. Christy B

Dawn – here’s a correct link for the pizza coupon…
    http://www.palermoslafamiglia.com/lafamiglia/
    Hope it works for you!

  7. Dawn M

Thanks all got the pizza coupon. BIG thanks to Carrie for all her work and coordination of lists to help us save money. You make it so much easier. THANKS….

  8. Mary

Steve – Both Cubs in St. Cloud have been purchased by Cashwise Foods. They are both closing early this week and reopening a few days later as Cashwise locations. So there will be three Cashwise stores in the St. Cloud area, and there won’t be any Cub stores.

    1. steve

      Thanks for the response.

My opinion is that in the next year or two Rainbow will be purchsed out by Cash Wise.

  9. Christine

There is a coupon in the Cub coupons book for B. Smith olive oil at 4.99. The coupons is good through 3/6/10. This is a Cub coupon.

    1. Sarah

Thanks for the info! I’ll check this one out!

  10. barb

    http://www.freshexpressartisans.com
Has a coupon for $1.50 printable for Fresh Express salads.
On sale at both Cub and Rainbow this week.
Looks like it is a PDF but comes from the actual manufacture website and it has a long exp date. Hope this helps. I have not tried to use it yet.

  11. Angela

The Bertolli is a good deal if you are picky about the taste of Olive Oil. Most generics and even Crisco, etc. don’t taste as good. Bertolli is one of the best in my opinion and worth the extra $$.

  12. Susan

Much thanks to Carrie especially and the rest of you for alerting all of us of fabulous buys! I so appreciate your work and love spreading the good word. Keep it up!!

  13. PJ70

the pizza coupon that opens for me is 1$ off 2 pizzas, anyone else find this?

    1. Brandy

They must have changed it because I printed several just Saturday becuase Cub had the Rustic variety (our favorite) on sale for $2.99. I also come up with the $1/2 coupon now. Should have printed more last week.

    2. AJ

I registered at the pizza link and could only find a $1/2 q for the pizzas. Are the $1/1 q’s gone or is there a typo on the list?

  14. cynthia

I am hoping that unadvertised Cub catalina deal is the real thing. I have my coupons set and ready to go it it is. Reportedly there area also catalina deals on the fruit snacks and fiber one bars. I may try doing it one time to see what happens. If it works I will let you know. I may try a $20 transaction with fiber one, fruit snacks and a couple other things that were on the list. I will report back if I decide to be brave and try it. :-)

      1. Laura Wales

        Wow, Stacy! Thanks for sharing!

      2. Sue

        Stacy,
I think #5 didn’t work becaue of Chex if they were $2.50 on your receipt. The Chex in the ad are $2.49. I did a deal with 5 fruit snacks and 4 cereal (2 Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Reeses) and I got the $7.00 Catalina.

        1. Kierstien

          stacy
when you got the catalina for the $7 did it say the dates etc about the deal? i know sometimes they do this way we know its a go for all of us?!?

  15. cynthia

Thx Stacy! I have 3 deals put together for tomorrow. Given your success I am going to try them…one at a time. I will post with my experience tomorrow afternoon!

  16. Kirsten

Has anyone been looking at the pork ribs to see what the sizes on the packages are really like? I am wondering if there are really small packages to be had or if the smallest ones weigh more than a couple pounds, as sometimes happens with these meat sales.

  17. Cory

I swear I just saw a post regarding a catalina for hamburger helper and now I can’t find it? Does anyone know what it is?

    1. Stacy

Here it is – got this from Cub yesterday while shopping..

Hamburger Helper Home Cooked Skillet Meals
      Purchase between 2/22 & 3/21
      Buy 3 get $1.50
      Buy 4 get $2.00
Buy 5 or more get $2.50

  18. Pete

Hopefully you all received the Cub mailer that has the multiple $5.00 off coupons on a purchase of $50.00 for each week, over the next month. The current weeks is good through the 27th, so don’t forget to use them!

    1. Lori

Pete- when did you get this mailer?? I e-mailed customer service to see if they will send me one.

  19. steve

I also did not get the mailer in Bloomington. I am sure it was sent out to a select demographic group.

  20. cynthia

    Carrie-

First off thanks for a great site here!! Just found you this past week!

Secondly just wanted to let you know I scored at the Cub in Plymouth today. I went in with my attempt to triple dip the reported GM catalina deals. I am happy to say I succeeded. One of them (the fruit snack one) was advertised in the fruit snack aisle by each of the products that would earn the fruit snack catalina. Here is what I did on my 3 trips…one was a triple dip and 2 a double dip. I had coupons for every item I bought also.

    Trip 1
    5 Fiber One Chewy bars
    1 Warm Delight
    4 Fruit Snacks
total pre coupons: 23.38 (not counting tax)
    coupons 4.45
    after tax total 19.25
    earned a $7, $3.50 (from fruit snacks) , 2.50 (fiber one)- expire 03/09/10

    Trip 2
    4 muffin mix
    2 potatoes garlic mashed pouches
    5 fruit snacks
total pre coupons: 21.39 (not counting tax)
    coupons 5.00
    after tax total 17.22
earned a $7 and $3.50 (from fruit snacks) expire 03/09/10

    Trip 3
    4 Fruit Snacks
    1 cake
    3 Cookies
    3 frostings
total pre coupons: 21.93 (not counting tax)
    coupons 4.80
    after tax total 17.13
    earned a $7and $3.50 (from fruit snacks) , expire 03/09/10

    total spent: 54.43
total catalina good for next shopping order: 34.00

    Hooray!

    1. Stacy

Sweet! Cynthia I missed on the fiber one deal though! Good for you.

  21. ChrisE

I just came from the Savage Cub and found the Hormel ground pork in 3 pound packages on price cut from $7.99 to $1.99. I picked up eight and used the 1/1 Hormel always tender product coupons.

  22. Dana

The GM catalina deal worked for me at the Cub in Rogers today. Here’s what I got:

6 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks $2.29 ea
4 Betty Crocker cookie mix $1.67 ea
1 starkist tuna pouch (cause I had the $1 off coupon)
    Manuf coupons = $4.10
    Total – $17.31
    Received $3.50 fruit snack catalina
    Received $7.00 catalina
Total oop after catalinas = $6.81

I wasn’t sure if it would work so I only cut enough coupons for one deal just in case, so I’ll be going back!

    1. Dana

oh yeah.. and thanks Stacy for buying the same things as me and posting about it, so I could copy and paste! :-) Hope it’s okay.

      1. Stacy

LOL! I planned it that way Dana!

    2. JoannaV

I did the deal 4 times on Wednesday and it worked like a charm. We have enough junk food to last us awhile and I still have a $7 OYNO catalina to use.

I bought the Palermo’s Classic Pizza and the $1 off coupon did not scan or work when the cashier mannually tried to enter the coupon. I ended up not using the coupon. Did anyone else havea problem using the coupon?

  25. Sarah

    Carrie,

I noticed that you had Yoplait Yogurt listed at both Rainbow & Cub this week. I like that you have it listed at both places, because if you only want to make once trip then you can. But, I was just thinking that if you do end up wanting to make two trips it might be nice to have like a little note at the bottom that they’re cheaper at Rainbow this week or something.

Thanks for all that you do! I use your grocery list every week & LOVE it! My mom & I always meet at Rainbow on Wednesday (and sometimes on Sat now) to get our coupons doubled!

  26. Angela II

Here are is a list of manufacturer coupons that match up with the cub coupon booklet.

I looked them up on http://www.couponmom.com

  27. Beth

Just got back from the Cub in Woodbury, and didn’t see the $2.19 Palmero pizzas, or the Grande tortilla chips. Are these not available at all Cub stores? Then I looked in the ad and didn’t see them there either (could be blind today:D).

  28. Beth

Ok, 3rd time is a charm. I found them in the ad, but never saw them in the store.

  29. amy

Went to Cub in Rogers today. I only bought Smart Ones meals in the transaction. Bought 10 meals which were on sale for $1.99 each so price was $19.90 plus there was a $4 coupon/10 on some of the meals. Used one of those so spent $15.90. To my complete surprise a $10 off my next shopping order printed off. So after coupon and catalina I paid $.59 per meal!!!
Also, last night I was there and ended up asking the frozen food manager to help me find the Palermo pizzas that were on sale for $2.19. He figured out that they don’t carry them. I told him I also had 3 $1 off coupons and had intended to get 3 pizzas for $1.19 each. He gave me 3 Bernatello pizzas for $1.19 each. He even made sure that the size was comparable. Wonderful customer service!!! We’d never had that brand before…hubby says they are better than Red Baron!

  30. Lori

Wow-I did a 3 catalina deal this morning at Cub. $10 for buying 10 Smart ones, $7 General Mills deal and $3.50 Betty Crocker deal. So I got back $20.50 in Catalinas and had $17.98 in coupons as well. Here’s my breakdown

    12 Smart ones-had $4/10 coupon and 2 buy 5 get 1 breakfast box free.
6 BC fruit snacks had 3 of the .50/2 coupons
2 BC Warm delights had 2 .50/1 coupons
    3 Nut clusters had 3 $1/1 coupons
2 BC pouch potatoes had 2 of the .75/1 coupons

So my total out of pocket after deducting catalina’s earned and coupons was $6.11 for 25 items.

  31. cynthia

Thanks for the info on the WW ..may need to check that out. Do you know what meals are included in the 1.99 sale?

    1. Lori

Just the regular ones like Swedish meatballs, mac and cheese, tuna casserole etc……its a great deal. I found the extra 2 coupons “buy 5 get breakfast box free” in a older coupon insert expired in November but Cub takes expired coupons. up to 3 -5 months.

  32. cynthia

Thanks for the info on which ones Lori!!
I hit the Cub IN eden Prairie late late late last night.
Bought 10, used the $4 off 10 peelie and used 1 buy 5 get one breakfast free and buy 3 get 1 flat bread free. Hooray! Then used my catalinas from the GM deal earlier htis week to pay for everything…hip hip hooray! Wish there was more variety in the deal. I know there are pizza and some of the asain foods in the $2 sale at target but no catalina there… :-(

  33. Julie

I tried the Smart Ones deal in Elk River. It did not work. I bought 10 of the 1.99 meals. I used the $4 off of 10 coupon. So it was still a great deal but I did not receive the Catalina coupon. Oh well. I’m stocked for lunches.
