You’ll find four inserts in your Sunday paper this week – a Smart Source, Red Plum, General Mills and Procter & Gamble. This list highlights which coupons will likely result in a freebie or are unique coupons we don’t see often. Your coupons or coupon amounts might vary, as coupons are regional and I use the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Later today I’m sharing some things I learned recently about why early editions might have different coupons than the Sunday edition and other insights into how coupon inserts work.
If you’re eager to learn about coupons, read through my picks from previous weeks.
If you want more copies of these coupons there are a couple options. Get additional copies of the inserts from friends, neighbors, co-workers, leftovers at coffee shops or libraries or a whole paper for $1 at most Dollar Tree stores; find a Dollar Tree near you. You can also order the specific coupons you want from The Coupon Clippers.
By the way – the coupons are organized alphabetically within each category, except the hot coupons for free dog food.
Your turn: Which coupons do you think will turn into a freebie or rock bottom-priced item?
Everyday, Regular Priced Items
Buy the following products with a coupon from this weekend’s paper at their everyday price and you’ll get a great deal or maybe even a freebie.
Chef Michael’s Canine Creations. Buy one can, get one free. (Red Plum)
Cover Girl. Buy one face product, get one free. If these go on sale at a store buy one, get one free than we’ll get two free. (Procter & Gamble)
Febreze Luminary Refill. Buy a Febreze Luminary Starter Kit, get a refill free. (Procter & Gamble)
Friskies. Buy one Selects Indoor, get one free. (Red Plum)
Gillette Body Wash. Buy any Gillette deodorant, get Gillette body wash free. (Procter & Gamble)
Herbal Essence. Buy one styling product, get hair product free. (Procter & Gamble)
Metamucil. I wonder how much the smallest size bottle of Metamucil is at Target or Walmart, since this $3/1 coupon has no size restrictions. (Procter & Gamble)
Olay Body Wash. Buy Venus razor, get Olay Body Wash free. (Procter & Gamble)
Nivea Lip Care. Buy one, get one free. (Red Plum)
Olay Quench Body Lotion. Buy Olay Pro-X product, get Olay Quench Body Lotion free. If you buy $50 in Olay Pro-X products you can get $20 back via this mail-in rebate. (Procter & Gamble)
Puffs. Buy 2 Vicks products, get a free box of Puffs. (Procter & Gamble)
Schick Razor. Get a full rebate (up to $11.99) when you buy a Schick Quattro Razor or Trimmer. Purchase must be made by 3/7. (Smart Source)

Swiffer Refill. Buy a Swiffer starter kit, get a refill free (Procter & Gamble)
Tide Stain Release. Buy any Tide 75-ounce+ and get a Tide Stain Release free. (Procter & Gamble)
Sale Priced Items
If these products go on sale before the coupon expires you will get a rock bottom price or maybe even a freebie. Look through the coupons on the “coupons doubled in value” list below as well, since they could be included here too.
Air Wick Starter Kits. Manufacturers loveto give away starter kits because they will have hooked you into buying refills. That to say, I expect this Air Wick i-Motion starter kit to get you a free kit at some point. (Smart Source)
Crush Soda. If you have a sweet tooth you can get it for less with this $1/3 2-liter bottle coupon. (Smart Source)
Dove Men+Care. The plastic bag my newspaper came in had a $1.50/1 Dove Men+Care coupon. Since this is a new product there are sales on it everywhere. Coupled with this coupon you can probably get it for better than free.
Downy. Rare coupon alert! It isn’t often that we get a $1/1 Downy liquid and $0.50/1 Downy dryer sheets coupons. If you’re brad loyal to Downy, then stock up on these. I suspect it’ll be awhile before you see them again. (Procter & Gamble)
EarthGrains product. Bread coupons are rare so I’m excited to see this $0.55/1 Earth Grains coupon. (Red Plum)
Hormel Always Tender Product. Yippee! Last time I got my hands on these $1/1 coupons I waited for boneless pork ribs to go on sale for $1.99 per pound and bought a 1-pound package for just $0.99. (Smart Source)
Quaker Instant Oatmeal. We are in the peak of oatmeal season in the grocery and coupon world, where products hit rock bottom prices and the highest-valued coupons are released. It’s a perfect storm for the consumer because we can often use coupons like this $1/1 alongside great sales to get items free. (Red Plum)
Trident. Trident Layers gum is really good (sweet and fruit-flavored) and it’ll be free or cheap with this $0.75/1 coupon. (Smart Source)
Tylenol. This $3/2 won’t get you free Tylenol, but this week at Walgreens Children’s Tylenol will be less than $0.50 per bottle when you use this coupon. (Red Plum)
Coupons Doubled in Value
If you can shop at a store where the value of your coupon is doubled and these products go on sale before the coupon expires, then you will likely get a freebie or something close to it.
Betty Crocker Frosting. Often these sell for $1.00 each, making them free when this $0.50/1 coupon is doubled. (General Mills)
Coffeemate Creamer. Coffeemate doesn’t go on sale as often as International Delights, but this $0.50/1 coupon doesn’t expire until May. That’s good news because this will likely hit a rock bottom price right before Easter, if not sooner. (Red Plum)
Dannon Yogurt. The yogurt war continues and this new batch of $1/1 Dannon coupons will likely turn into free yogurt. (Smart Source)
Gillette Fusion Shave Gel. I love $1/1 shave gel coupons. They almost always turn into free products. (Procter & Gamble)
Green Giant Just for One. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, these are included in a 10 for $10. When this $0.50/1 is doubled that would make them free. (General Mills)
Lysol. $1/1 Disinfectant spray may turn into a freebie with the right sale. (Smart Source)
McCain Potatoes. This is the second time this season we’ve seen a $1/1 McCain coupon. I remain hopeful that they’ll go on sale for $2 one of these weeks. (Smart Source)
Purina Beneful Snackin Slices. Hopefully these go on sale for $2, so they are free after this $1/1 coupon. (Red Plum)
Red Gold. If canned tomatoes go on sale for $1 each, then they’d be $0.33/can after this $1/3 coupon is doubled in value. (Smart Source)
Simply Asia. The small ramen-like packages of Simply Asia products can’t be priced much more than $1, can they? If so, they’ll be free or close-to-free with this week’s $0.50/1 coupon. (Red Plum)
Yoplait Yo-Plus Yogurt. Yo-Plus four packs regularly sell for $2.00 each, making them free after this $1/1 coupon. (General Mills)
Eat Out / Recreation
Baker’s Square. Buy one entree, get one free and a 20% off entire check coupon. (Red Plum)
Buca. Yet another $10 off $20 purchase coupon. (Red Plum)
Chuck E Cheese. Coupons for family meal plus tokens. (Smart Source)
Cold Stone. Various coupons. (Smart Source)

Did anyone get all inserts in yesterdays paper?
Dang. My PiPress Red Plum has no Nivea Qs. :(
The Smartsource has a one day pass for Sam’s Club. It says they upcharge 10%, but I went today and they didn’t upcharge on clothes. Maybe that’s a MN law? I don’t know, but it turned out to be a great deal for me!! $15 for a Nine West coat and $15 for Calvin Klien jeans.
The dollar tree no longer carries the Sunday paper. The man I spoke with said that the Star Tribune was complaining that they weren’t making enough money. Bummer! I may have to get a subscription now because $1.75 is too much!
Hi Tanya
Not sure how long you want to wait to subscribe to the Sunday paper but my husband and I signed up for our subscription at the State Fair last year. It was something like 98 cents a week for thirteen weeks, when our thirteen weeks ran out they continued this price for us. Just an FYI it’s less than at Dollar Tree and delivered!!! Can’t beat that! :)
There was a flyer in this week’s Star Tribune Sunday paper delivery for .99/week for 26 weeks. Code FSI ID53. I think I will order 5 for delivery because I am really tired of chasing after the Saturday edition!
I am looking forward to double coupon day at Rainbow to use the Yoplait Smoothie $1.00 coupon from the GM insert. .50/each after double coupons. My toddler loves these, we make smoothies a couple days a week. I also freeze the leftovers in popsicle molds.
I didn’t get the SS insert today in my Pioneer paper. Anyone else from the Stillwater area missing their inserts?
Patty – The Pioneer press often gets fewer and lower value coupons than the Star Tribune, so it wouldn’t surprise if it didn’t come in any of the papers. I think they get less because the paper’s circulation is smaller than the Strib.
Anyone know where I can pick up a copy fo the Sunday paper today (Monday)?
I have the same question Liz. I wasn’t able to get the paper yesterday and I have been calling gas stations and grocery stores, no one has any left. Although I want the 4 inserts! Haha! I might have to cave and get a subscription again, it’s just not much cheaper and I was not impressed with customer service. Also, those of you who have a subscription how do you get multiple copies?
The Rainbow at the Quarry (NE Mpls) sells the Sunday edition all week. I don’t know that I’ve seen them at any other Rainbow, but I know for sure they have been selling them there.
Is it better to get the Star Tribune on Saturday and Sunday or just the Sunday paper? I am just looking for the coupons so I don’t know if I need the Saturday paper?
Thoughts?
Does anyone know if the Star Trib will give you a discount if you have them deliver more than one paper? Thanks
I asked that when I did their $.99 Sundy delivery, but it was a no. I’m thinking they would for full price?
