Carrie’s Picks from 2/21/10 Coupon Inserts

coupons too

Your paper should have had three inserts in it, a Red Plum, Smart Source and Procter & Gamble. This list highlights coupons I think are unique or likely to turn into freebies based on the coupons I received in a home delivered Minneapolis Star Tribune (listed alphabetically within category).

It is possible that the coupons in your Sunday paper look different than mine. Understand why by reading 4 reasons your paper may have different coupons than your neighbor’s.

If you’re new to couponing, read through my picks from previous weeks to learn from my oh-so delightful commentary in weeks gone by.

If you want more copies of these coupons ask friends, neighbors, co-workers, or even restaurants, coffee shops or libraries for their unused copies. You can also order the specific coupons you want from The Coupon Clippers.

Your turn: Which coupons do you think will turn into a freebie or rock bottom-priced item?

Everyday, Regular Priced Items

Buy the following products with a coupon from this weekend’s paper at their everyday price and you’ll get a great deal or maybe even a freebie.

Buy 1 Fusion Shave Gel, Get Gillette Body Wash free. (Procter & Gamble)

Mighty Dog. Buy one can of Mighty Dog, Get one free. (Red Plum)

No Yolks Egg Noodles. Get a bag of egg noodles free after mail-in rebate with the original rebate form in the Smart Source insert. Will you do a mail-in rebate for $1-$2?

Buy 1 Olay Pro-X Facial Moisturizer or Cleanser, Get Secret Clinical Advanced Solid free. Coupled with the $15 Olay rebate and/or Procter & Gamble coupon rebate and a store sale, this could turn into totally free products. (Procter & Gamble)

Buy 1 Olay Pro-X Facial Moisturizer or Cleanser, Get Venus Razor free. Coupled with the $15 Olay rebate and/or Procter & Gamble coupon rebate and a store sale, this could turn into totally free products. (Procter & Gamble)

Buy 1 Olay Regenerist Facial Moisturizer, Get Olay Body Lotion free. Coupled with the $15 Olay rebate and/or Procter & Gamble coupon rebate and a store sale, this could turn into totally free products. (Procter & Gamble)

Buy 1 Olay Regenerist Facial Moisturizer, Get Olay Body Wash free. Coupled with the $15 Olay rebate and/or Procter & Gamble coupon rebate and a store sale, this could turn into totally free products. (Procter & Gamble)

Buy 1 Old Spice Body Spray, Get One Free. (Procter & Gamble)

Buy Old Spice Red Zone Deodorant, Get $2/1 Old Spice Body Wash and Buy Old Spice Body Wash, Get $2/1 Old Spice Red Zone Deodorant. These coupon names are tongue twisters, aren’t they? I *think*  you should be able to buy two products and use these two coupons to get a total of $4 off two. I haven’t tried it myself (hey, it’s Saturday night and I’m busy typing, haven’t made it out). I’ll be interested to hear about your experiences. (Procter & Gamble)

Procter & Gamble Rebate form. I mentioned this rebate a few days ago, where you buy $50 in Procter & Gamble products to get $100 in coupons for future purchases. You can use the rebate form from the paper or the one online, but there is a limit of one per address. If you use any of the buy this, get that free coupons for qualifying products, both the one you buy and the one you get free count toward your $50 spending requirement. (Procter & Gamble)

Revlon Beauty Tool. The super simply tweezers and small packages of disposable emery boards used to be priced right near $1 at Target and Walmart, making them close to free with $1/1 coupons like we see in the Smart Source insert. Anyone know the current price? (Smart Source)

Scott Paper products. Scott has run promotions like the one advertised this week off and on for at least 15 months, but they’ve never excited me. Buy Scott products from 2 or more classifications and you’ll get a reward coupon good for money off your next purchase. Does this promotion excite you? (Smart Source)

Sale Priced Items

If these products go on sale before the coupon expires you should get a rock bottom price or maybe even a freebie. Look through the coupons on the “coupons doubled in value” list below as well, since they could be included here too.

Bissell. Buy any Bissell product and get money back via mail-in rebate. (Smart Source)

Bumble Bee Sensations Seasoned Tuna Medley Bowl. This $1/1 makes me think this is a new product to market, they usually release high-value coupons on new products, and that also means we’ll see a lot of sales for it too. Taken together maybe we’ll score a freebie. (Smart Source)

Children’s Tylenol or Motrin. I used a similar $3/2 coupon alongside a store sale recently to pick up two bottles for next-to-nothing. At some point this spring we will stop seeing Tylenol and Motrin coupons as these products and their sales peak during the winter months. (Red Plum)

Crest. Finally! They have been running a lot of $0.75/1 Crest toothpaste coupons, but this week we get a $1/1, which usually turns into free toothpaste after a store promotion at one of the drugstores. (Procter & Gamble)

Flexamin. I don’t have to tell you that $6/1 is a great coupon, but it’ll be even better if you have two of them and wait for a buy one, Get one free sale at a local grocery store or drugstore. (Red Plum)

French’s Fried Onions. I can tell we’re coming up to Eastertime as there are always fried onion coupons and sales before the major holidays. (Smart Source)

Gorton’s. Happy Lent, let the fish coupons and fish sales begin! (Smart Source)

Mentos Gum. I enjoy chewing gum, but only pick it up when it’s $0.25 per pack or less. These $0.55/1 coupons help because I can sometimes score a great deal on a few bottles. (Smart Source)

Pampers Cruisers. $2/1 is one of the best Pampers coupons you’ll see. (Procter & Gamble)

Sara Lee Baked Goods. Bread coupons are fairly rare so I was glad to see this $0.55/1 in the Red Plum insert.

Snickers Bars. It isn’t often that we see coupons for well-established candy bars like this. I’ll pick them up on sale and set them aside for Easter basket treats. (Red Plum)

Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain Brown Rice. We eat a lot of rice, considering I am married to a Latin American, and we eat a lot of Uncle Ben’s Brown Rice. I’m ecstatic to see this week’s $1/1 coupon because typically they are $1/2. (Red Plum)

Yoplait Go-Gurt. Typically we see $0.80/2 coupons, so this week’s $1/2 coupon strikes me as unusually high. (Smart Source)

Ziploc. I often get Ziploc-type bags when they’re part of a buy one, Get one free sale at a drugstore and I have two coupons like this week’s $0.55/1 to match. (Smart Source)

Coupons Doubled in Value

If you can shop at a store where the value of your coupon is doubled and these products go on sale before the coupon expires, then you will likely get a freebie or something close to it.

Bumble Bee Tuna Pouch. Doubling this $0.55/1 coupon could easily turn into free tuna with the right sale (if you can find a store that doubles coupons and carries this brand). (Smart Source)

Chex. $0.75/1 is an awesome cereal coupon, especially given the awesome promotions and sale prices we have seen all winter on General Mills’ cereal (Smart Source)

Oust. We used to see Oust on sale for $2 with some frequency, but lately the best I’ve seen (at my local store that doubles coupons anyway), is $2.50. I hope that doesn’t mean the price has gone up forever, because we could get a free can with this $1/1 if it goes on sale for $2. (Smart Source)

Mrs Dash. We love Mrs Dash at my house, but of course I only get it on sale and with a coupon, so it’s been awhile. (Smart Source)

Pup-Peroni. With the right sale, this $1/1 could turn into free dog treats. (Red Plum)

Silk Soymilk. It’s felt like eons since we’ve seen a $1/1 coupon for soymilk. I haven’t tracked prices too recently, but awhile back it would go on sale for $2, which would make it free after this coupon. (Smart Source)

Smucker’s. I know that a $0.25/1 coupon is nothing to write home about, but we eat the no sugar added jams and you don’t find coupons for them very often. Smuckers makes a no sugar added variety, so I will pick it up with this coupon.

Wheaties. $1/1 is an even more awesome cereal coupon than the Chex I mentioned above. You can wait a week or two for the box with the Olympics’ heroes to hit the shelves and then use this coupon :) (Smart Source)

Eat Out / Recreation

Boston Market. Their standard $1 an individual plate and $2 off $10 purchase, but also a first side is free when you buy a Create a Plate selection. (Smart Source)

Buca. Not surprising to see yet another $10 off $20 purchase coupon. These are getting to be very commonplace (Red Plum).

Chuck E Cheese. Various coupons including an advertisement where you get 100 free bonus tokens with a reserved birthday party on a Friday or Saturday through 4/26. (Smart Source)

On the Olay rebate it states that it expired 1/24/10. Are they still accepting them?

  2. Mary

If the Olay Rebate is new, can you get it again if you used the previous one?

  3. Lisa

I LOVE the Silk coupon. Just ordered 50 from The Coupon Clippers because we consume a lot of soy milk in our home!
