Rainbow Foods: Kraft Cheese $0.29 (Jan 1 & 2 Only)

Rainbow

Quick head’s up on a great deal on cheese today and tomorrow only at Rainbow Foods stores.

Kraft Cheese $1.49
Buy 5 and use $1/3 coupon from in-ad flyer (some Rainbow stores don’t make the in-ad flyer with the coupon available to customers within the store so you’ll have to bring yours from home. I didn’t get one at home this week, but even without it the cheese is $0.49 each, which is a great price)
Spend $6.45, get coupon for $5 off your next grocery purchase
Final price: $0.29 each after coupon and money off next purchase

I like to stock up on cheese and freeze it. This time of year I get a lot of mozarella so I can make low-cost lasagna and some other pasta dishes to put in the freezer.

Your turn: For those who shop at Roundy’s stores under other labels (Copps or Pick N Save), is this working for you too?

I am passionate about helping people keep their money where it belongs - in their pocket. I live in Minneapolis, MN with my husband and two little girls.

Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn’t you buy 5, use the in ad coupon for $1 off 3, then the $1 off 2 printable coupon mentioned in the Rainbow shopping list comments? There is also a $1 off 2 from a coupon insert referenced in the shopping list. If they work, that would be like getting the shredded cheese for 9 cents each!!! Am I missing anything?

If you have a Roundy’s Rewards card and it is scanned at checkout, does it give you coupons automatically?

As far as I understand it Angel, no. The Roundys card simply tracks your amount of spending and fuelperks, that’s it.

Just returned from Pick ‘n Save and it worked like a charm! I actually had a Catalina for $1.50 off 3 Kraft and found another one sitting on a ledge next to the carts that someone had discarded :)

Kraft was $1.66/package here and I bought 6 using the 2 $1.50 off Catalinas for a total of 9.96-3.00 coupons= 6.96 plus got the $5.00 off coupon. Works out to .33 per package – thank you for posting this deal!

  6. Roberta

Are all Kraft products 1.49, or only some of the products?? Shredded, block, singles, etc??

  7. Jen

Justin – the coupon from the insert expired on 12/31/09. I would assume you can use a printable if you have on that hasn’t expired.

It didn’t work in SE Wisconsin for me…I did two separate transactions just in case, but no Catalina. :( Either way, I needed cheese, and it was a good deal…but it would’ve been better with that $5 cat! ;)

    Hello all-t

I thought I’d share what I found at Rainbow today after I dashed out to get the cheese deal.
The In ad coupon for $1/3 expires 1/2 which I believe is why Carrie says this particular deal is only good until tomorrow.

I tried to use the in store coupon with my printed $1/2 coupon manufacturer Q linked in the Rainbow list, and they wouldn’t take them both. The register blocked it. Evidently the in-ad coupon is a manufacturer’s Q (although it doesn’t say that, it does say “Redemm by sending to Kraft.”). So Justin, it wouldn’t let me do what you were talking about (And I was thinking about!)

But what I did figure out is that I have a rain check for the Kraft 1.49 deal because they were out last Wed. So I plan to go back on a Wed to get the double off coupon and the catalina for 5$ off next grocery trip.

Anyone else have a different experience then mine or try it?

    Julie W

  11. Jeanna

Bummer! I bought Kraft Cheese on Wed and didnt receive this coupon, I bought six packages.

  12. Jennifer

I did this deal multiple times today. It worked like a charm on the blocks of cheese – and I was able to use both the in-ad $1,00 coupon and the internet printable coupon for $1.00 because was for off 3 and one off 2 – and I bvought 3 each time.

However – the last transaction I did was just shredded cheese and for some reason that didn’t print out the catalina. The cashier did what she could to work around it to get one to print but no idea why it didn’t print out originally.

  13. Copps/Pick N Save: Kraft Cheese Deal : Savings in Florida

[...] here’s a very hot deal on Kraft cheese available today and tomorrow only though. According to Carrie over at Pocket your Dollars, there’s a new catalina promotion starting today at Copps/Pick N Save/Rainbow Foods. The [...]

I bought the cheese tonight. Did 3 transactions with the 5 items of cheese (shredded special, used the in ad $1 coupon as well) and got $5 for my next order on each-had a problem with it but customer service issued me a gift card for the ones that didn’t print out due to the cashier not charging me for all of my cheese. Anyway, great deal! My Catilina ad said that the offer goes Jan 1/1 until 1/24, different from some people who have posted that it is over on the 17th.

Is there a way to know the catilina ads before we go to the stores? Not that I have time I rely on Carrie’s expertise on this! Thank you Carrie!

Andrea-where in SE WI did you shop? I am in SE WI (Waterford) and plan to try today

  16. JackieM

My rainbow (CR) was out of block Kraft cheese when I went today. Disappointed that I won’t be able to use the in ad coupon but I did get a raincheck for the cheese.

  17. Justin

It looks like they have removed the printable coupons from the Kraft Foods website. I was successfully able to print it earlier in the week. I wonder if they are in the midst of changing the coupons for January. Jen – I did not know that the coupon from the insert expired on 12/31. So, it looks like you can only get the cheese for 9 cents each if you printed off 2 coupons from the Kraft website for $1 off 2 earlier in the week. Otherwise, use the in-store ad coupon for $1 off 3 and be content with 29 cents per bag. Still a great deal.

I went to rainbow in woodbury yesterday…all and I mean all the Kraft cheese was wiped out. boo hoo.

  19. Cindy

Went to Woodbury today .. pickings were a bit slim, but okay. I got an assortment of american cheese (2.29), block and shredded cheese (1.49) and flavored cream cheese (1.89), 18 packages for $12 after coupons. Also bought the early edition Mpls paper for 50 cents, figured it was a good day to try it out. Thanks for the heads up on the cheese! I was taking my kids to a BD party, so store was on the route, otherwise its 40 miles away, so I don’t often get to do this fun weekend sales.

  20. Lisa

My husband and I went to Midway Rainbow and did this deal twice! I would have never thought of this myself as I never look at the in-store flyer. Thank you.

  21. Maryann

Was able take advantage of this today. Unfortunately, I did not see any in-store flyers but it was still worth it. I think I got the last of the non-fat free cheese!

  22. lynda burwitz-nelsen

Woked like a charm….. still thinking this could be a good deal if you eat chesee with or without coupons

  23. mw

I tried doing this today at the Eagan Rainbow. I bought 5 – 3 shredded and 2 brick. The Catalina did not print and the gal at customer service had no idea about the $5 catalina. I did not have anything to show her about it other than I had heard about it so all I could do was get the $1 off the 3. Is there info somewhere that this was published and I could print and bring in?

  24. Skirnir Hamilton

In Waukesha, Wi I bought the cheese on Wed. with some $1 off 2 coupons that expired 12/31. But the catalina deal was beginning on the first. I did receive a notice of the Catalina from my Pick’n Save. So it should work for those in Waukesha, WI and surrounding area.

  25. Jen

Did this tonight twice at the Lakeville Rainbow – worked perfectly and turned around and bought the groceries I actually needed with the 2 $5 coupons. Thanks – I wouldn’t have known about this – needless to say I think I have enough cheese for a year. I bought shredded cheese and in my experience this freezes just fine.

  26. Melissa Keuning

I tried this at the Coon Rapids Rainbow and had the same experience as MW. The catalina coupon didn’t print and the gal at customer service hadn’t heard of the catalina deal. Is there anything I can do about this? I still have my receipt. Thanks.

  27. Ann

I am with Melissa and MW. I purchased five and it didn’t print out. the cashiers knew about it but customer service wouldn’t give me the $5 because they didn’t know about it. if anyone has a copy of the catalina advertisement, could you let me know? my rainbow said to come back with that and my receipt and they will give me the $5. i figured a scanned copy would work. any other suggestion would be appreciated.

  28. Cindy

You know it prints out as a catalina, right? I found that it printed after I paid (was starting to wonder if it would show up).

Also, I had coupons for $1/2, exp. 1/31/10, that I got from a recipe/advertising brochure that was with the weekly ads at Econofoods.

  29. colleen

Boca burgers are on sale 2/6.00 and there was a 1.00/2 coupon in 01/03 coupons. Use that on Wednesday and they are 2/4.00 which is a pretty good price.

I thought my daughter was going through a vegetarian phase but it’s been 2+ years. I respect her decision but dang it makes it hard! It’s just the two of us so meal planning becomes a task at times. I’m not a hardcore carnivore and am content with a meatless dinner but she is such a picky eater and I can only eat pasta and stir fry so many times in a week!
