Rainbow Foods, Copps, Pick N Save Shopping List 1/3 – 1/9/10

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

roundys

These are the best deals I see this week at Rainbow Foods (a Roundy’s store). It assumes you shop on Wednesday when they will double the face value of five coupons that are worth $1 or less. If you’d like more details on the rules around doubling check out this post.

Buy 4 select Special K Products, Get 1 Special K Free with in-ad coupon

You may not be able to use both the in-ad coupon, plus manufacturer’s coupons for the cereals you buy as part of this deal. If you can, at most you’d be able to use coupons for four of the cereals, versus all five you’ll leave the store with, because the in-ad coupon is not store-issued. Therefore, I have to assume it’s a manufacturer-issued coupon (even though it doesn’t say that) and your store may have a policy against stacking it alongside other manufacturer-issued coupons and/or it may be problematic for the register.  Consider asking the Customer Service Manager at your store whether other coupons can be used alongside the one in the ad (point to the fact that it does not say manufacturer-issued and looks like it will be reimbursed by a company other than Kellogg’s).

Comments

  1. Mindy says:

    Hi Carrie!

Thanks for all the great info! Just wanted to let you know the $.55/1 Coffeemate link goes to the Boost site.

    Mindy

  2. Christine says:

If you don’t have the lightbulb coupon, there is one on coupons.com for any GE lightbulb. Also if you have extremely dry skin, the Gold Bond lotion is a really good deal. Typically Gold Bond is $9.00 a bottle.

  3. Kimmerr77 says:

Naked Juice is cheaper at cub 2.50 w/cub coupon in coupon book.

  4. Sarah says:

    Hello All,

Just wanted to throw out an idea. Buca Meatless products are on sale for 2/6. There was a 1/2 coupon in sundays paper. After double thats $2 each. I think that’s a pretty good price on a product that normally $4.25

If anyone gets a better price on these somewhere else please let me know.

  5. Cindy says:

I was at Woodbury Rainbow yesterday morning .. their Campbell’s soup was wiped out. I was issued a rain check. I took the ad to Target, and they did/would price match.

Also, the sausage links/patties for .99 at Rainbow, had $1/2 coupons on them. I think the brand was Jones (or Jonas). I BELIEVE the sign said ‘limit 4′, but when I got to the register it was charging full price ($2.50) after the first two. They gave me the .99 price, but the limit was not resolved while I was there. The ad does not state a limit. Those sausage patties better be good after all that!

  6. colleen says:

Sarah – I’ve found that the best regular price for the boca products is at target. I don’t remember the exact price — I think this deal is better though. This is one of the few products that I will buy when they are not on sale or don’t have coupons for if I have to; they are a life saver for me making dinner for my vegetarian daughter. I try to stock up when they are on sale but I never seem to get enough!

  7. ty says:

Does Rainbow accept Target coupons? I’m not sure which stores take other stores coupon? Please advise… Thank in advance!

  8. Jaime says:

I was able to get Boca burgers at Aldi a while back for a really good price. Not sure if they have them all the time though – but I stocked up!

  9. Rachel J. says:

I can’t find the bagel bites coupon on coupons.com. Can anyone else?

Also, for boca products, I also think Target is cheaper :) But, if you need a filler to reach $25, it doensn’t really matter :)

  10. Tami W says:

Does anyone know if there is a limit on the Progresso soups this time? Thanks! :)

  11. Jennifer says:

The Tree Top juice coupon is expired, that’s why I didn’t include it in my list for this week.

  12. Julie says:

Carrie- regarding the Special K deal, last week I tried to use the in-ad coupon for Kraft with a manufacturer’s Q and it didn’t work. The In-ad coupon was set up as a manufacturer’s coupon so we could only use one, and the register recognized the double coupon. Who knows if this special k deal is set up the same way.

    julie

  13. Jennifer says:

    Julie –
Last week I used the in-ad coupon for $1.00 off 3 Kraft cheese products PLUS a $.110 off 2 Kraft cheese products in the same transaction and it went through no problem. I even did the deal multiple times at two different rainbows without a problem. Must be a YMMV situation as it always seems to be at Rainbow lately.

  14. Shelly says:

I think I got two packages of Boca burgers for $1 at Target last week. If I remember right, I got the deal from the comments from last week’s Target lists. I think someone had pointed out it was an unadvertised special and then there was both a Target coupon and maybe a Manuracturer’s one as well. Not sure if that “unadvertised sale” is still going – but check last week’s Target comments for details….

  15. AmyM says:

Does Rainbow accept expired coupons? I know Cub takes them three months after the date but wasn’t sure what their policy was. Thanks.

  16. Mindy says:

When I registered for te Zone Perfect bars I got a coupon for BOGOF. Did anyone else get something different (like a money-off coupon) that made both bars free?

  17. Michelle says:

Hmmmm I tried to print the Lunchables coupon and it said I reached my limit for printing… but I never printed it, heck I haven’t even been to the site for 2 weeks! Grrrr….

  18. Mary says:

Mindy – When I registered for the Zone Perfect bars, I aslo received a BOGOF coupon.

  19. Valerie Y says:

If anyone likes the Soy Joy bars, I got a good deal (I think maybe better than at Rainbow) on them at Walgreens today. They are BOGO Free w/o coupon at Walgreens so they come to $1.39 for 2. I bought 6 and it rang up $4.17, then I used 2 of the B2 G1 free coupons from the Sunday paper. Those coupons took me down to $1.39 for 6 Soy Joys. But if you can’t make it to Walgreens the Rainbow sale is pretty good too.

  20. Sandy says:

I’m new to couponing, but I thought I would let you know that Rainbow pharmacies have a program where you earn 1 script saver coupon for every visit to their pharmacy. When you collect 5, you can redeem them for a $10 gift card for groceries.

  21. Cath says:

Valerie, Soy Joy six-packs are $6 at CVS this week, and give back $6 in Extra Care Bucks. They also “roll,” so you can go, buy one package and get $6 ECBs, then go again a different time and pay for another box with the $6. It is a limit of 6, so essentially you can get 6 boxes for the initial OOP of $6, and still have $6 ECB to use later. HTH!

  22. Kate says:

A few things for the nestle deal:

    buitoni has $1 off Q at http://www.buitoni.com

carnation instant breakfast has $3/2 Q at
    http://carnationinstantbreakfastessentials.com/CurrentOffers/Default.aspx

and coffee-mate has $1/1 Q at http://www.coffee-mate.com/coupons.aspx –making them FREE!

  23. Erin says:

Does anyone know a good price for:
Boneless beef bottom round roast OR
    Boneless beef sirloin tip roast?
I see they are “on sale” for 1.99 lb (sold in a bag).

  24. Jessica W says:

    * Tami W * The add does not specify a limit on the soups (usually they would if that were the case) but make sure you check for signs by the product as they somtimes put up signs limiting the number you can buy.

    * Amy M * Rainbow does not take expired coupons unfortunately

    Hope that helps!

  25. Beth says:

Does anyone have any advice on locating the boca coupons in Sunday’s paper? I looked, but didn’t see it. Thanks.

  26. Kent says:

CAN YOU BUY STAMPS TO MEET THE 25 DOLLAR THRESSHOLD?

  27. Kimm says:

Erin, I think that is a pretty good price on the sirloin tip roast.

Beth – the Boca coupon should be in one of the Jan. 3 Smart Source inserts. If you got an early edition or got the pioneer press, you may not have it.

  28. Tami W says:

Thank you, Jessica W! I guess I will go in armed with my coupons, and see if that pesky sign is up like last time :) I think you are right, the limit of four was mentioned in their ad last time.

  29. Anne says:

    Kent,

Yes, you can buy stamps to reach the threshhold. I’ve done it many times when I needed them. The problem I have, is remembering to ask for them!!!

  30. Shelly says:

Sarah – I’m sorry, I just checked my freezer and noted that it was MorningStar veggie burgers that I got for such an amazing price at Target last week ($1 per box of 4). I think I did find that deal through the comments on Targets shopping list last week. Sorry for the confusion I may have caused. I’m not too picky about the brands of veggie burgers; and actually my husband and I really prefer the black bean burgers at Costco to any of the others. I have finally tweaked a recipe for homemade black bean burgers that we really like – but, in a pinch, it’s so nice to have the frozen vegetarian burgers waiting in the freezer : )

  31. Deb Jacobsen says:

I had the same issue with the Lunchable coupon-said I reached my print limit….I haven’t printed coupons for lunchables since this summer. Bummer!

  32. Cindy says:

Does anyone know if we can double the Gold Bond coupon that’s in the Rainbow ad this week? $4 off 2 is a good deal to start, but it’s always good to get more money off. Also, Walgreens is offering buy 1, get 50% off. I’m thinking of taking the $4 coupon to Walgreens. Anyone know who has the better deal?

  33. Sara says:

Has anyone ever asked a cashier to use a raincheck for 2 transactions when you only have one actual raincheck? I have a raincheck from the Kraft chees sale last week and would like to buy 5 bags each in two transactions (during the same checkout if that makes sense) to get two of the $5 ONYO cats rather than just one, but not sure if they will do this. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  34. kim says:

Shelly ~ any chance you’d share your black bean burger recipe? It sounds so good, and we don’t buy as much meat lately in an attempt to get healthier and save $. Have you frozen your homemade patties? Thanks!

  35. Mary says:

I am new to the Rainbow double coupons. Will they double your coupons if you buy a $25.00 Best Buy gift card as your $25.00 purchase? Thanks for the info.

  36. Elizabeth says:

They have Jennie-O turkey products (except the sausage links) at 2/$7 – there was a coupon in the paper for $1 off of two products, so they’d be $2.50 each after the doubling.
Also if you sign up on coffee-mates website you can get a dollar off coupon for the creamer – so you’d get a dollar overage with the doubling.

  37. Mary says:

Is it possible to use a $25.00 Best Buy gift card purchased at Rainbow as your $25 minimum purchase? Thanks!

  38. Lindsey M says:
  39. Theresa K. says:

My first Rainbow trip was this morning around 10am. The store was so quiet! Only one cashier working and no lines. Mental note to shop at this time more frequently!

I purchased the largest roaster chicken I could find at .99/lb = 8.33, 2 Yo Plus at 2.59 each, 1 Yoplait Delights at 2.89 each, one milk at 1.88, 3 Progresso soups at .99 each and 2 Kashi Go-lean cereals at 3.75 each. Total came 31.14, minus 5 $1.00 coupons (yogurts, soup), plus a $3 off 2 Kashi products (vocalpoint, I think) for a total OOP of $18.64. Overall savings of 58%

Heading back for lunch and another run.

  40. Celeste says:

Cindy–you can’t double coupons more than $1 in value.

  41. Jessica W says:

    * Mary * It is possible to use a gift card purchase towards your $25

  42. Jessica W says:

I have some shelf prices on a couple items if anyone is interested:
This is from the Rainbow in Shoreview:

    Playtex 36ct tampons are $7.99
the free wipes with purchase have a shelf of $2.59, so with the doubled coupons you get both for $4.99. That didn’t seem like a good enough price for me.

Also the 4-pack of GE lightbulbs incandescent were $3.99 so you DO get two free with the coupons! Great deal!

  43. Michelle says:

    Sara,

A couple weeks ago I had a similar situation – 2 separate transactions, with only one raincheck and Rainbow would not allow it:(. I even had the manager come and check on it, so I would say try to avoid it at all costs if you still want a good deal!

  44. Mindy says:

Hi all! I have a question that’s been nagging me: When you have a coupon that says $2 off produce/milk/etc. when you buy … Special K/Kelloggs/etc. Can you use another coupon for the “when you buy” item? When I first started using coupons I tried this, thinking the coupon was for the milk, not the cereal. So I presented a coupon for my Frosted Flakes, or whatever they were, plus a coupon for $1/milk when you buy Frosted Flakes. The clerk told me the system rejected my second coupon for “too many coupons” on the same item (Frosted Flakes). I’ve never tried again, but I didn’t know if I misunderstood why it happened or if it was just a fluke, or if it just doesn’t work like that. Thanks!

  45. Mindy says:

    Jessica W.,

You mentioned that $4.99 is not a great price on tampons – I was planning to get them for $3.99 using the $1/1 coupons on the tampons and the wipes. Is that a better deal? Where do you get them the cheapest, and how much will you pay? I’ll definitely get one box, but if I can get a better deal I won’t buy any more than that this week.

    Mindy

  46. Shelly says:

Kim – I’d be glad to send you my black bean burger recipe. Just e-mail me and then I’ll e-mail it back to you : ) shelly @ alphaease . com [Carrie here: remove spaces in the email. I added them so Shelly's email doesn't get picked up by spam bots]

  47. Anna says:

    Mindy,
You can get tampons this week for $2 box at Walgreens for Playtex. That’s a good deal. $4.99 is really high. This is a link to the Walgreens deals this week that includes the link to the Playtex coupons:
    http://hip2save.com/2010/01/walgreens-deals-13-19.html
    At Walgreens:
Playtex Gentle Glide or Sport Tampons 16-18 pack 2/$8 = $2RR
Use the $1/1 coupon found here IE or Firefox
    Pay $6
    Get back a $2RR
    Final Cost $2 each!

  48. Roberta says:

    Hi,
I went to the Quarry Rainbow today and they have started to ring up the sales prices = $25 not the full retail price = $25 needed to double the coupons. Has anyone else had that happen at that store, or other Rainbows? I actually had done the math to make sure that a $26 retail price transaction and I was five dollars short. : ( When I got home I double checked my math.

  49. Theresa K. says:

    Roberta,

I just checked my receipts and I think that is the usual practice, at least based on my store since September. Actually, when I was planning out my morning trips I chided myself for not remembering which way the $25 is calculated. You’d think I could remember that!!!

  50. Theresa K. says:

My second Rainbow trip included some clearance Christmas items, so the deals weren’t as dramatic for me. I bought some Glad holiday-themed storage containers for which I had a $1.50 coupon, three boxes of holiday-themed Kleenex (with the flocked scenes) at $1.25 (I’m hoping to figure out how to open and replaced tissue in the same container) plus a doubled .50 coupon, 4 Toaster Strudels at 2.46 on sale with 2 $1/2 coupons doubled, 3 boxes of Bagel Bites 3/$4.98 with 2 doubled $1/1 coupons and some dry soup mix (sale, but no coupons) for a total of $29.82 (sale prices) and OOP of $19.32 (47% savings). In hindsight, those toaster strudels, even at $1.46 OOP, are still overpriced but my husband and son LOVE them and like the treat (an important part of making a home, I think). I’m afraid to start eating them cuz I cannot afford the calories and fat. And let’s not even bring up the fact that I know how to make them from scratch. However, the Bagel Bites, at .98 cents for 3 boxes, ARE a good snack deal. The containers and kleenex are reusable items at a good price. The soup mix at 3.19 for 8 servings was the cheaper alternative to canned good quality hearty chicken noodle soup for a cold night and a kid with a cold.
