Open Mic is a post every Thursday that is a mini-version of a discussion board. You can leave a comment with whatever coupon, money-saving or debt reduction tips or questions you have and other readers chime in and answer.
When you leave a comment you’ll be able to choose whether you’d like to be emailed follow-up comments or not. Getting comments via email is a great way to stay connected without having to visit the site a bazillion times (although I don’t mind if you come a bazillion times).
As always, I look forward to hearing the voice of the Pocket Your Dollars community. Read through the Open Mic archives here.
Your turn: Leave a comment with your money-saving, coupon or debt reduction question, thought or suggestion.
Two tips: 1) If you are reading this via email or an RSS feed, click on the title “Open Mic” to come back to the site and leave a comment and 2) If you are concerned about your privacy, just reference yourself by your initials and know that I will not share your email address with anyone else.

Thanks Sarah Beth for the walgreens info.@Jill, I have found about http://www.ecoupons.com from pyd website to trade your coupon in grocery coupon club and have just received my first coupon orer last week. It’s really simple you have to send 25 coupons and a .99 cents processing fee and then you get to order your 25coupons from their website.
What do you consider a good deal to pay for tanning sessions? I have a wedding coming up in April.
I know it’s not the cheapest place in town, but I went to Planet Beach to tan for my wedding. They usually have BOGO coupons laying around the store and the best part is … your sessions never expire. I went back over a year later to used up the rest of my sessions I had purchased for my wedding.
What part of town do you live in? I’ve only tanned at Maple Tan in Maple Grove and they have awesome tanning beds. They also have 1/2 price session on some days. It use to be if you went in before 10am during the week and Sunday mornings. You would have to call there to find out the current days and times. They also have other locations around town. http://www.mapletan.com
Looking for Swiss Miss Coupons and Barilla Pasta. Any idea where I can get my hands on some?
ManufacturersCoupons.net has the Barilla coupons for .05 each (plus the price of one stamp) which were in the paper a few weeks ago: http://manufacturerscoupons.net/barilla-package-barilla-plus-p-2494.html
They also have a Swiss Miss coupon available, but it is marked Kroger.
Hope this helps!
If you mean from Sunday papers then there is a Barilla coupon in the 01/03 SS#1 that expires 3/1 – There was a Swiss Miss in the 11/15 SS but that is expired (still ok at Cub)
I’m registered and use the Couponmom.com database to find which papers had the coupons I need. It works GREAT! http://www.couponmom.com/
anyone have any good recipies for bars, i am going to a get together and was asked to make a dessert, any ideas would be much appreciated!!
One of my favorite dessert ideas (also cheap and easy) is to make a chocolate/devils food cake mix in a few fluted pans/quiche pans (you will need more than one because cake rises and the pans don’t hold much). Once cooled flip them over (bottom side up) and top with cherry or raspberry pie filling. NUM! You can also drizzle chocolate syrup over the top to decorate and make them look fancy. Easy Peasy!
The Coon Rapids Dairy Queen on Northdale Blvd is having 50% off ice cream on Sat Jan 30th–no cakes or 6 pk novelties. Was in the Anoka County Shopper. No coupons, no limits. 11am-9pm
Every so often I receive those shopper surveys in the mail–”Official Consumer Product Survey of America” from Laura David Consumer Research Center. After filling out a few pages of grocery related questions, supposedly you can be randomly selected to receive a ton of coupons etc –I got another one today– anyone else do these, and if so have you ever received any coupons as a result?
I just got another one in the mail yesterday. I had done this in the past but have never received anything I could associate to it. I started to fill out the new one and thought it asked to much personal stuff and did not send it in!
I’ve done the Laura thing before and don’t think I ever got anything out of it. At least that I could identify as such at least.
I am wondering how most people feel about the facebook deals? I don’t like to allow them since they can view your pictures and information, I know that is my personal thought but I am just wondering what other are doing about the great deals that are popping up that way?
Thanks :)
Set your photo albums and information to private. :) They need to be your friend to see this info, they can’t if you are just a fan.
I rarely do Facebook offers. I have a FB page, but only use it for famiily and close friends. I think that FaceBook is cumbersome and NOT appropriate for business use (generally speaking). Twitter tied in with a blog or website is more useful to me. My two cents, anyway!
I have set up a 2nd fb account for doing coupon deals and freebies. I have no friends on that account and have posted no picture. HTH!
I have done it as well on my page, but all my setting are for friends only so I don’t really worry about it. I do have a second fb page, but that is solely for my business.
Thanks for you help! I actually have my picture settings at Friends only but I guess I thought if I was a fan they can view your profile? That is great if they can not that makes me feel alot better
Thanks again for your input :)
I love how my brain is now thinking savings and coupons all the time– got my Menards rebate check in mail today for $12.67– and at first I thought that was not much–but it is if you use it for cleaning/laundry products and combine with coupons! Also came with a PG in-store$1 off coupon–cool!
I have Revlon coupons I won’t be using. Would anyone like them? $4 off Colorstay Foundation, Powder, Blush and Concealer Product (exp 1/25/10), $2 off any eye product (exp 1/25/10), or a TARGET $1 off any cosmetic product (exp 2/28/10). Email me… in a suitcase at hot mail . com

RE: CAR RENTALS
I always use hotmail.com to rent a car. You do not know which company you are getting a car from until you push the accept button. It has always been by far the most reasonable deal. We rent when we are in Mexico and there has never been a problem.
