If you live in the Twin Cities area, here are some deals worth looking into.
Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport . If you’re flying any time soon, print a coupon booklet (it’s in the lower left corner of the page) to use at various shops and restaurants in the airport. Most of the coupons are valid through February 28, 2010.
Lunds/Byerly’s.Get a $25 gift card with a new or transferred prescription through March 3. One per person (and each person in a family can redeem their own), not valid with Medicare/Medicaid prescriptions. You need a coupon for this deal, but good news. The coupons are being stuffed in grocery bags at Byerlys/Lunds so you’ll get one with any purchase and, a pharmacist told me, that they have extras at the pharmacy if you ask (I recommend calling ahead on that one). PrairieStone Pharmacies also have an ongoing promotion that when you get 5 prescriptions filled, you get 10% off your groceries.
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Until February 28, you can get a free service call (a $79 value) when you donate an item to a food shelf. They pick up the donated item when they come to your house. Be sure to mention this promotion when you schedule your appointment.
Mall of America. Toddler Tuesdays continue. Children ages 6 and under eat free at participating restaurants on Tuesdays with purchase of one adult meal. (One adult meal must be purchased for every free kid’s meal.) You’ll also enjoy free events 10am-2pm on Tuesdays in the Best Buy Rotunda. Download the brochure or pick up a brochure at a Guest Services desk to get coupons, too.
Your turn: Twin Cities readers, what local deals have you found recently?

Another really cool thing about Toddler Tuesday at the Mall of America is that you can buy a 3 hour unlimited wrist band for your toddler to ride rides at Nickelodeon Universe for $9.95. This is a great deal since normally the cheapest wrist band is $20 and that only buys you 3-5 rides depending on what you ride. Of course a parent or adult gets to ride free with the toddler.
Erica – Awesome! I didn’t know that, but was thinking to take my girls one Tuesday in February. My almost-three-year old will love it. Plus, I’ve never been on a ride there and it would be fun to go with her :)
Just a note on the Ben Franklin plumbing…we tried them with this deal and it was quite expensive. They did give us a quote before going ahead with the job, so know what the cost would be with another company and be prepared to say “No, Thanks” if it’s more than it should be. The guy did a great job, it just was more than I think it could have been with another company. (I have a problem saying “No” in situations like this…)
Tanya – Thanks for sharing. I haven’t used them personally, but have received emails from a number of readers about the offer so thought I should share. I’ll ammend the post to remind folks to get an estimate for the work.
FYI-link for Toddler Tuesday did not work when I tried it.
Katy – Try again now. I used a different link to try and go directly to the brochure.
I haven’t used Ben Franklin plumbing, but if the work is good it might be worth it to pay a little more. You don’t want to skimp on something that important.
On Monday nights at Acapulco Resteraunts they have .75 cent taco night from 7-9 pm. No other food purchase required and you can get as many as you want. No take out though! They have several locations. Kinda a fun and inexpensive night out. You can get chicken or beef, soft or hard shell. My daughter has gotten bean as she doesn’t like meat.
Thank you for the Lund’s /Byerly’s prescription info. That is a fabulous deal!!!
Watch CVS as well for prescription coupons – I received in the mail a packet from CVS – 2 Q’s for $25 off new or transferred prescritions.
Thanks for the info about the prescription deal. I will love buying $25.00 worth of groceries for free. Also, their restaurants have a deal now-buy one get one free (up to $10.00) with another meal and two drinks. Ends Feb. 3.
When did the you get the CVS deal for new prescriptions??? Is the mail the only way to get them because I haven’t received one.
I used the Byerly’s prescription deal yesterday at the Ridgedale location and it worked great! I did not have the coupons but simply mentioned it to the pharmacist and she had no problem with giving me two $25 gift cards for the two prescriptions I filled for my two children. She also gave me an additional coupon in case I want to use it for another family member. Thanks for helping me get $50 in free groceries!
