As always, Aldi has some great prices on produce this week. These prices are based on the Minneapolis/St. Paul-area sales flyer.
If you’ve never shopped at Aldi bring a quarter (not 25 cents, but a quarter) for the refundable deposit on your cart and your own bags. They take cash or debit card, but not credit card. Find an Aldi near you.
Your turn:What else are you picking up at Aldi this week? (As for me, I bought a box of raisins, cottage cheese and vanilla. All items I needed and have found to be cheapest at Aldi, when I have to buy without a sale)
Produce
Apples. $0.56/lb sold in 3-pound bags for $1.69.
Grapefruit. $0.29 each. I’ll guess each one to be 1/3 pound, making them $0.87 per pound.
Navel Oranges. $0.32/lb sold in 4-pound bag for $1.29.
Pears. $0.45/lb sold in 28-ounce packages for $0.79.
Pineapple. $1.49 each

Does anyone else find it entertaining what ALDI advertises? One highlight for my husband and I is looking at the ALDI ad, this week being no exception. Mattess and bedding! Love it! :-)
Is Aldi instant coffee good? Do you know the $
I did try Aldi’s instant coffee and did not like it. FYI – I’ve only found that I don’t like the coffee and the frozen waffles so far.
Aldi has a double guarantee – if you don’t like the product they’ll give you your money back and give you a different product. I’ve never had to use it so I don’t know the details on how it works, but sure sounds like a safe way to try their brands!
@ Sara
Amusing, a little. But they do have to advertise their specials and sales for that week, like any other grocery store. The items in their ads are only available for a short period of time, unlike places like CUB, Rainbow, Publix, etc., so they need to get the word out there. :)
BTW, anyone who’s ever lacking an Aldi ad can find it on http://www.aldi.us.
@ Pam
Their mac and cheese and yogurt are terrible! Things that I’ve found there that I really like are their sirloin steaks (don’t have them very often), their beef and cheese frozen enchiladas and their frozen juice.
Has anyone had negative experiences with their produce?
i agree, the mac and chees isn’t very good, but if you put in one box of aldi with one box of kraft together in the pot – you can’t taste the difference at all! the kraft must be stronger tasting or something.
Erin,
I’ve only had good experiences with their produce. However, Carrie is accurate when she says that their produce is ready to eat, so you do have to eat it quickly after purchasing. When strawberries went on sale a couple summers ago for 49 cents per pound, they were very ripe, but extremely good. I ended up making tons of jars of jam out of them and it’s so delicous that I now do it with their strawberries every summer and my family enjoys it year round!
Erin – I’ve had some bad exp with Aldi’s produce. My mom is a huge Aldi shopper so I tried to stop there on occassion to see what it was about. After buying two packages of grapes on seperate trips and finding that they were moldy inside when I opened them for snack time I decided that was it. I’ve very hesitant to buy produce there anymore. There are other things that I do like to get there though so it’s not like I don’t stop, but the produce I skip.
I rarely buy they produce they have, because the one by me doesnt have much and it also depends what they have in on that day. Though I was excited when I went today, I found a bag of spinach for $1.89!! Love Aldi!
Bananas are pretty safe, they are usually green, but safe to eat once ripe. Also, I’ve purchsed the bagged salads without too many issues.
Thanks for all the feedback!
