I am recently informed of Pocket Your Dollars and now determined to save money on groceries and products. I have subscribed to the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Sunday newspaper to obtain the Smart Source and Red Plum coupons, however, the coupons are seldom included with the paper. (i.e. in the last four Sundays, there is only one Sunday that I have received the coupon inserts – very frustrating). Any suggestions?

    12/27 P&G has $3 off any 2 Pantene

Also Ivory bar soap is FREE – sale .99 12/27 P&G has $1 off any bar pack

  3. Anne

Regarding the Secret deodorant, in the P & G 11/1/9 flyer where you get the 50 cent coupon, there is another coupon that says buy 2, get 1 free.

  4. SarahBB

    Carrie:
It appears that it is Secret Clinical strength on Flu booklet coupon– can we use that w/ordinary Secret which I think is what is on sale this week?

  5. Mara

I buy 4 Early Sunday editions of the Star Tribune on Saturday mornings and have never had a time where there weren’t coupons included. I always check before I buy them though. Only $2 total for all four papers.

  6. angie

Mara – You buy 4 early edition Sunday papers on Saturday for $2 total? Where can you buy them for only $.50 each?

  7. Nicole Good

    Angie,
The early edition of the Star Tribune is always 50 cents! Be sure that the cashier doesn’t try to charge you for the Sunday ($1.75) I too have been trying to take advantage of the early edition. HOWEVER, sometimes not ALL of the ads are there..ie. Target, Walmart etc..

  8. Heather

Every time that I have looked at the early Sunday Edition, theres never any Q’s in it. I always have to wait for the regular Sunday paper…. I have looked at gas stations (Holiday and SA) and also my Dollar Tree here by Knollwood…. But the Sunday papers at the Dollar Tree are only $1 and usually have all the same Q’s in it. There’s only been one time that I didn’t get the Q’s.

  9. angie

Mara & Heather – I too was buying the paper, on Sundays, at the Dollar Tree for $1. I’ll be trying to buy the early Sunday papers from now on, thanks!

  10. Erin

There have been times that I haven’t recieved any Q’s in my paper. I mentioned this to my step-brother and he said that when he used to deliver the paper he wouldn’t take the time to put the Q’s into the papers so the people he delivered to wouldn’t get them. If you are getting them delivered I would definitely contact the paper and let them know. I am sure they would like to know about this. When I buy my paper at the store I always check to make sure no one has taken the Q’s already.

  11. Heather

I just happened to get the early sunday paper today because I noticed the Parade in it…. Wouldn’t you know it, the Q’s were in there!! I’ll be checking next week when i go to the dollar tree again because they always have extra early sunday papers. I am tempted to go pay full price at Holiday because of the few good deals at CVS this week. Thanks Carrie!

  12. Anne

    Mara,

Where do you buy your papers on Saturday morning?

  13. SarahBB

My dh delivers wk-end Star Trib and wouldn’t dream of leaving inserts out–it’s considered an error if customer calls it in and carriers are charged $3.50 per error, which is a lot out of their small checks.

  14. Beth

I was only able to print one $3. coupon for the Thermacare. Does anyone know the trick to be able to print a second?

  15. Haila

Regarding the missing coupons: I called the Star Tribune about this. Since they’ve started their early Sunday edition, there are apparently more papers being printed than coupon inserts available. Therefore some papers just don’t have all the coupons They are “working on this” (i.e. trying to get a bigger supply of coupon inserts) but weren’t able to give me a date by which this would be fixed. So yes, they’re just putting some papers out there that don’t have enough coupons – and there’s nothing you can do but check before you buy. And in my experience this impacts both the early Sunday edition AND the regular edition.

I think this is very frustrating. It may be more of a problem in some areas than in others (I live in north central metro and often have missing inserts). I’d encourage any couponers who have had this issue to contact the paper so they know it’s bothering people, and will work to get it resolved quickly.

  16. Mary

I only had P&G coupons in my Sunday papers. Were there more coupons?

  17. Jessica

    * Mary – Nope, this week contained only P&G coupons

    * Beth- for the Thermacare coupon I used my hubby’s info for the second coupon and it worked for me. Hope that helps!

  18. khaleda

6.99 curel lotion is $2.99 after $2 off coupon from 10-11s and $2 extra bucks

  19. Dawn

What are “Extra Care Bucks”? Does CVS have gift cards? I love this sight. It really helps with the economy the way it is and my husband was laid off most of the year. Thanks to all for the help.

There is a great site you can go to, to view what q’s you are supposed to get. It is http://www.taylortownpreview.com/ . Scroll down and look on your right hand column. you can click on the date and all q’s will show up. I hope that helps!

  22. Celeste

Jeanne–are you just missing inserts or are you missing all the ads? On holiday weekends there are usually not Red Plums and Smartsource inserts. P&Gs only are included about once a month. Definitely check on Taylortown Preview (mentioned above) on Fridays! That way you know what to expect. If I remember correctly, last year after the holidays there were a lot of inserts, so maybe this next weekend will be a biggie! We’ll see!

  23. Sara

Some one else had asked, but I don’t see any input… Do you think the CVS coupon for Secret Clinical strength with work with the sale this week? I’m hoping to go there tomorrow. THanks for your help.

  24. Sara

Thank you Carrie! I have been shopping with PYD at Cub/Rainbow for about 5 months, but just recently added CVS and Walgreens to my TO DO list. I went to CVS last night with $9.99 in Extra Care Bucks. I bought 3 Secret deoderants and a large bottle of Curel lotion (both the brands I prefer.) I had to add a candy bar just to get to the $9.99. It is so invigorating to get a deal!
p.s. I didn’t even try to use the Secret Clinical Strength coupon from the Flu Booklet.

  25. Mindy

    Carrie,

Just wanted to let you know that the link to the “how to use Extra Care Bucks” page is wrong – it takes you to general info on how to read coupon lists. I need a lesson on Extra Care Bucks if anyone’s willing to explain – do you need a loyalty card?

    Thanks!
    Mindy

  26. Tanya

I am having problems printing out the Olay rebate form. I went to their website directly and it still is saying there is an error. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  27. Sara

Tanya – i did print it a week ago and submitted and I just received it back in the mail saying error – this box was no longer valid. I just tried the link as well – no dice. not sure what is going on here.
