These are the items on sale at Aldi near rock bottom prices. Aldi’s prices are regional, so prices at your store may vary.
If you’ve never shopped at Aldi bring a quarter (not 25 cents, but a quarter) for the refundable deposit on your cart and your own bags. They take cash or debit card, but not credit card. Find an Aldi near you. Remember that their produce is ripe for eating when you buy it, so be prepared to eat it, freeze, can it or otherwise use it up right away.
Your turn: What are your favorite ways to use pineapple?
Produce
Russet Potatoes. $0.14 per pound (sold in 10-pound bag for $1.39). I have said many times that I often buy potatoes in bulk. I make a huge batch of mashed potatoes, then freeze them in meal-sized portions for a quick side dish on a night when I don’t want to cook.
Onions. $0.17 per pound (sold in 3-pound bag for $0.49). This is a rock bottom price. If you use a lot of chopped onions when you cook consider this. Buy a couple bags, dice the onions, spread them out on a cookie sheet, freeze them , and then transfer the frozen onions into a Ziploc for storage. They’re quick to add into scrambled eggs, soups, casseroles and crock pot recipes and you will have gotten them at a stellar price.
Navel Oranges. $0.37/lb (sold in 4-pound bag for $1.49). This is a rock bottom price and if you eat a lot of oranges or recipes for using them up, then this is stock up time!
Pineapple. $1.49 each. These are good sized pineapples. I bought one a few weeks ago and made some delicious pineapple chicken.

Do you freeze your mashed potatoes already made? For example, I use butter and milk. Would you freeze them like that? I have been wanting to buy a lot of potatoes and freeze them but wasnt sure how they would freeze.
Thanks
Mandy
Mandy – Yes, I make and mash them just like you would to serve them on the table, then freeze them. I try to make them a little thicker than normal so that I can add some liquid to them when I thaw them out without them getting too runny. Works fine for me.
