These are the best deals I see for Roundy’s stores (Rainbow Foods, Pick N Save and Copps) this week, assuming you shop on Wednesday and have the face value of your coupon doubled. Welcome to all the Twin Cities Live viewers that will check out this list after the segment airing Tuesday at 3 pm on KSTP 5. You’ll find the deal idea I discuss on-air at the very bottom of this list. Thanks too to Brandy who helped me put this together.
Learn how-to have your coupons doubled in value here. If you are new to Pocket Your Dollars, learn to read this shopping list. For any printable coupon you should be able to print each one twice from a single computer. If you have trouble try the troubleshooting suggestions found here.
Your turn: What cereal and Procter & Gamble deal scenarios are you putting together?
Incredible Meal Deal
Buy Cooks Ham portion ($1.99/lb and average ham is 9-16 pounds),
Get Jennie-O 10-12 lb hen turkey, dozen Roundy’s eggs, and 12 oz Roundy’s breakfast sausage free**
**Yes, this is an easy way to get one of your transactions to $25. However, I am going to pass on this deal for two reasons. My family won’t eat Cook’s ham and second, Cook’s ham has a rock bottom price of $0.99 per pound. A 9 pound ham is $9 more than rock bottom price which is nearly a wash for the turkey. That leaves you to be getting a great deal on eggs and sausage. If you get a larger ham, then this may not be a deal at all. Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble.

**My target price is $1 per box of cereal. Since I don’t know the regular prices for everything I am not putting a deal idea together, but I’ll clue you in on how I’d calculate this in the store.
- I’d add up the total value of the five cereals (I try and pick the ones priced right around $3)
- I’d subtract $5 for the store promotion
- I’d add up the value of my coupons for the cereals I bought and double it
- I’d subtract the doubled value of the coupons
- If my total was much higher than $5 I’d pass up the deal. OK, considering the value of the milk I might be okay with a total of $7 after coupons.
That said, I focus on using the highest value coupons I can like two $0.75/1 Multi-Grain Cheerios, two $0.75/1 Total and I have a $1 off Honey Nut Cheerio coupon from the sample I was recently sent. That is $8 in value when the coupons are doubled right there.

Although Carrie you said the meal deal wasn’t a great deal. I had a coupon for cooks ham from I think Family Circle mag for $1.00 off so doubled was $2.00. I picked the smallest ham(5lbs= $10) and then picked the biggest turkey i could find(11lbs) so I got both the ham, turkey, and the eggs and sausage for $8.00. Maybe that’s not the greatest deal but I has happy with it. For 16lbs of meat I only paid $.50/lb.
Karmen – Sounds like you got a great deal! Way to go!
I have two cornish hens sitting in frozen stasis too! Thought that might happen when I got ‘em free but decided they could always end up as free awesome soup stock.
Has anyone run in to not being able to get the free ready-to-serve minute rice (i know it was free, but still!) because they are out and not being able to get a raincheck? The store associate said they can only give rainchecks if something is “on sale”. Isn’t FREE a sale?!?
I was given a raincheck for the free minute rice at the Savage store.
I shopped at the St Louis Park store tonight with all b&w coupons and they took all of them. The ones that stated DO NOT DOUBLE they took and they doubled them with no problem. I would call and ask, worth a shot.
I got over $190 worth of groceries for less than $73, a savings of $118! You can see what I bought here:
http://momforhim.blogspot.com/2009/11/weekly-groceries-over-190-worth-for.html
I ended up doing the meal deal. My family likes diced ham, and my hubby said he’s willing to cut it up so I can freeze it. That’s worth $15 to me right there! :-) I passed on the P&G deal. I just didn’t have the energy to go for it, and they weren’t items I needed.
Carrie- I’m new here, but do you post pictures of your weekly shopping trips?
Jessica – I sometimes post pictures of my trips. This week I didn’t shop at all so there won’t be one. I also like to feature other people’s trips, if I can carve time to get them up. Typing up exactly how I got all my deals takes more work than you’d think, which is why I can’t always get to it.
First of all, I have to say that I had a GREAT experience at Rainbow yesterday (it has been a while for me when everything is a success). They cashier did call over a manager to look at my b&w internet coupons but he pushed them through. I was able to do 2 transactions (with no one in line behind me) and spent $12 saved $55! I impressed the cashier with BOTH transactions (comments from the cashiers has become a more common experience for me and it is such a thrill!)
The Pasta/Rice and P&G deals were incredible – especially combined with the P&G B1G1 Qs from the Sunday paper – and this week everything I wanted was still in stock! I can’t believe how much free stuff I got! I’m tempted to go back for more P&G items even though my coupons won’t double today!
Also, if you use make-up and haven’t used your Cover Girl Qs from this Sunday’s paper, the CoverGirl 30%off at Rainbow deal is great combined with the Qs! The “Buy Foundation get Face product free” Q does not specify a price max for the face product – it clearly says ANY. I got their cheapest foundation (which was 30%off), used the $1Q for any CG product towards the foundation, and then for the Free item I chose an expensive powder. I would have never bought that nice of a powder before! Yay! Thanks Carrie!
Lori, I was at Savage too! I was told they can’t but I have their number and will call them today. I was excited about the free rice because it is a great small meal to bring to work!
I asked an experienced cashier at the Rainbow by Northtown and he said they can take B&W, but they need to have the watermark printed. Maybe when you print in black and white, the watermark doesn’t show up as well????
Jamie,
My Rainbow was out of the ready-to-serve minute rice too. I WAS able to get a raincheck at the customer service desk. She wrote it out for free rice and stapled the coupon to it. I just have to bring the raincheck with my receipt (to show I purchased the other items as well) to get it next week.
