We just do our big shopping trip of the week on Wednesday (family of 5) so have no troubles doubling or reaching threshold. We often do multiple trans. too.

Yes the registers are set to double the coupons when the register reaches $25 shelf or regular price but as I found out again at the Forest Lake Location, I had $31.20 worth at the shelf price, however the register was showing $23.95 which was the sale price before my coupons. The cashier warned me that I did not have enought to qualify for the $25 but I knew I did. She scanned the coupons and they doubled but she went and back out the double coupon cost. I have had this problem to many times at this store but I was in a pinch and had to go there last night. :(

Kimm, I’m so embarrassed.

I was checking on this in order to tell you where to find it and I *think* I used the wrong Q. (I used all the ones I have, so I can’t check it to be sure.)

It scanned without beeping. Bummer.

Suffice it to say, if I would have used the right Q on what I bought I would have paid $3.15 for half a pound. NOT a deal.

I have gotten packages of sliced meat from Sam’s that seemed to be a good deal, but we didn’t use it before it started to give me the willies, food safety-wise. And I have been unimpressed with my results when freezing it. As my kids grow and eat more, I’m sure it will be a wise choice again. (I try not to toss things too early, but with meats I’d rather be safe than sorry.)

Helen – what kind of lunchmeat did you get for $1.50/pkg? (And what size pkg?) I usually buy my lunchmeat (ham & turkey) at Sam’s Club because I can get 40 oz packages for $6 – $6.50. (or about $2.60 – 2.79 per pound). I’m always on the look out for even a better deal on this frequently used item!

The $25 is before coupons and before the sale price, so yes, it is be the price on the shelf that goes toward the $25 threshold. And I shop at the Northtown Rainbow…if that’s the one you are talking about. I’ve went to the Riverdale one once and had some trouble, so now I avoid it if at all possible.

The party is over. My Rainbow adjusted my milk coupons (from last week’s cereal deal) down to the cost of the milk. (But that’s OK, because I’m not actually entitled to have Rainbow Foods and Kelloggs feed my family breakfast forever for next to nothing….) ;-)

Five transactions. Paid $77.78 for $186.49 worth of groceries. (Saved $108.71.) Didn’t save as much as most times, but not unhappy at all. I have no regrets when I save more than I spend…. In this case, saved about 58%. In fact, I left the store happier than a lot of weeks, because I did low stress transactions and I left with all the stuff we need and didn’t have to see the kids’ faces as they sighed… “Mama, did you get lunch meat this time, or just more cereal?”

(Got lotsa lunch meat… for $1.50 a package.)

Thank you to who replied about the batteries! I ended up not getting them after I saw on the tag that the C size was only a few cents off! We have plenty of AA and AAA but need more C and D… So I was bummed but at the same time I managed to do 4 transactions after a couple of coupon switcheroos with a toddler in tow this morning. I’m pretty sure I was behind another fellow PYD’er in line at the Roseville Rainbow the first go-around because I saw she broke down her transactions and also had a stack of coupons (and printable coupons, too). I smiled but she had a toddler in tow too and by the time I noticed and was going to ask, my own kiddo was pulling on the candy shelf ;) it was nice to see I wasn’t the only person doing 2 transactions at once!

All in all I spent 45 dollars for 175 worth of groceries. That’s the best I’ve ever done. I was at Rainbow for like an hour and a half though!

I capitalized on the Chewy Granola bars because they are my kids favorite and I had a couple of $1/2 so it made them a buck each which is the lowest I’ve seen in at least a month (I’ve been watching that price!). I also did the GM deal – got Lucky Charms, Cinn Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios and Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters. Had a $1/2 for LC and CTC but $1/1 for HNC and the clusters. Got the free milk coupon and used it in my next transaction w/ milk. My preschooler was so excited to see Lucky Charms again because we usually get non-sugary cereals but I try to get a sugary cereal once in a while to make his day (or week…) :) and Hubby was thrilled to see his fave- cinn toast crunch. So I did pretty good today!

can you clarify for me? You said in reaching the 25$ minimum for Q doubling, it takes the “shelf” price not the sale price? So it takes the regular price, not the sale price? my store told me it takes the sale price. So if an item was on sale 2 for $4.00, but regularly 2.79, you can count the 2.79 towards your 254 minimum?

That would be great. today was my first effort at doubling at Rainbow, so I’d love direction. If anyone’s store uses the shelf price, can you share which stores it is? Mine is Blaine (or Coon Rapids)

I spent about 35$ on 95$ worth of groceries so as a newbie was happy with that!

Carrie – Thanks for all you do. This is only my 2nd week using your website and I only paid $62.07 this week for $140.15 worth of groceries in 3 transactions. I’m a licensed child care provider and food is my greatest expense. I have always been a coupon clipper but your website is maximizing my efforts. Your website has also made my weekly grocery shopping chore fun. I look forward to seeing the weekly shopping lists to see how much more I can save. Thanks sooo much!!

I did 3 trnx for out of pocket $44.25 – groceries were worth 129.61. I’m starting to take notice that many of their sale items indicate ‘on sale thru’ on the hang tag. I’m starting to use that info to help plan my next week(s) trips.

Someone asked earlier about batteries — Walmart Black Friday ad has Rayovac 12 pks (AA and AAA) at 2/$5 (or 24 for $5).

This is a little late for today’s deal, but I thought I’d share for next week if the price stays the same. Tombstone pizzas were 4/$10 this week. It’s the only frozen pizza that my fam will eat, so it was good for me. At checkout, a $2.00 off your next trip catalina printed out. The coupon says “Buy Tombstone 12″ original pizza between 11/4 – 11/29/09,” Buy (4) – get $2.00 off; Buy (5) – get $4.00 off; Buy (6) or more – get $5.00 off.

Just something to keep in mind in the next couple of weeks. : )
