Clothing Exchange
This is a cool idea. There is a clothing swap this weekend. You pay an admission fee, bring up 25 pieces of gently used clothing and swap them for clothing from others. There will be women’s, men’s & children’s clothing. Admission is $8 (cash only), but kids ages 10 and under are free.
Event is being held at La Quinta Inn, 1870 Old Hudson Rd, St Paul (at 94 & White Bear Ave) from 11 am – 4 pm on November 7 and 8.
You can get a $3 discount on the admission and pay just $5 if you drop your clothes off in advance this evening from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at 1181 6th St E, St Paul, 55106. Email questions to clothingexchange99@yahoo.com.
At first I questioned whether this was a good deal or not, but if I could swap 25 items of clothing that I am tired of for 25 “new to me” things for just 8 bucks? That’s way better than I’d pay at a thrift store or garage sale.
Bergans SuperValu Doubles Coupons
Multiple Pocket Your Dollars readers have emailed me saying that Bergans SuperValu at 4715 Cedar Ave S, Minneapolis 55407 doubles the face value of coupons every single day. They double coupons worth $0.50 or less. There is no minimum purchase required. From what I understand they’ll double as many as you have. I cannot find a website for Bergans showing their sales. Anyone able to let me know what they have on sale each week so I can pass the word on any great bargains?
Your turn: Let me know what other Twin Cities-focused deals you spot so that I can pass the word to others.

I live near the Almsted’s Supervalu in St. Louis Park and they double coupons up to .49 cents every day. Almsted’s Supervalu in Crystal doubles up coupons up to .50 cents every day. Today, I spoke to someone at the SLP store and asked why the two stores have differing policies (same owner). The SLP store employee was “unaware” that the Crystal store doubled .50 cent coupons, but agreed forwarded my request to the manager for reconsideration. I do know that business is down at these smaller neighborhood stores, so I am reluctant to push the issue. I also struggle with their much higher prices. In my experience, the Almsted’s in SLP depends on customers who walk to the store and must pay those prices, though many also come for the friendly carryout service.
I’d would have tried the clothing exchange if I had more notice. Is this with any specific group? anyway to get an earlier notice?
Just a follow-up. I found this thread online when I was searching for Almsted’s Crystal manufacturing coupon doubling policy. Yes it’s everyday, all day. I asked the mgr at the store if there are any exceptions or fine print, and he said no and that you can use as many $0.50 or smaller manufacturer coupons as want in a day with no problems doubling. I also asked if they post their weekly circulars online, and he said no but they do have them at the store and are included in the star tribune. Just thought I’d help someone else stumbling on this thread.
