Although there are just two inserts in this Sunday’s paper the coupons are great! You should have gotten both a Red Plum and a Smart Source insert, although the values of your coupons may vary if you don’t have the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Check out all my previous picks if you want to learn more about the best coupons out there.
If you want more copies of the coupons from this weekend’s paper there are a couple options. Get more copies of the inserts from friends, neighbors, co-workers, leftovers at coffee shops or libraries or a whole paper for $1 at most Dollar Tree stores (Dollar Tree locations). You can also order the specific coupons you want from The Coupon Clippers.
Your turn: Anyone having luck finding coupons in the Sunday early edition they sell on Saturdays?
Everyday, Regular Priced Items
Buy the following products with a coupon from this weekend’s paper at their everyday price and you’ll get a great deal or maybe even a freebie.
Canine Carry Outs. Buy one Meaty Bone product, get Canine Carry Outs free. To get even more free with that purchase also use this “buy one Meaty Bone Chew-lotta or Denta-licious product, get one Meaty Bone dog biscuits free” printable coupon (Red Plum)
Rayovac Batteries. 4-packs of AA batteries often sell for $1 in Target’s dollar spot. Pick up two packs with this $1/2 coupon for $0.50 each. (Smart Source)
Smart Balance Sour Cream. Buy Smart Balance Buttery Spread and get sour cream free. That’s great, but can be made better with a sale and this $1/2 printable coupon for the Buttery Spread or $1/2 from the 10/18 Red Plum insert. (Red Plum)
Sale Priced Items
If these products go on sale before the coupon expires you will get a rock bottom price or maybe even a freebie. Peruse the coupons on the “coupons doubled in value” list below as well, since they could be included here too.
Alouette Cheese. Let’s keep our eyes out for sales on these cheese products that are great for snacks at holiday meals or for pot lucks.(Smart Source)
Arnold Soft Family Item (Bread products). Bread coupons like this $0.55/1 are rare. (Smart Source)
Baking products. This week is the first set of high-value baking supply coupons. You name it and we got a coupon for it. There are so many that I am not going to name them all, okay?
Bic Multi-Purpose Lighter. I bet CVS and Walgreens run promotions on this and we can get it close to free with this $1/1 coupon in weeks head. (Smart Source)
Diamond Nuts. I don’t remember seeing a $1/1 Diamond nuts (8-14 ounce) coupon before. Nuts will be on sale a lot in the weeks ahead so hopefully we’ll get them at a great price with this coupon. (Smart Source)
Folgers. I suspect Folgers will be on sale at a rock bottom price the week of Thanksgiving (just my best guess) and this $1/1 coupon will make it the lowest price you’ve ever seen. Time will tell if I am right. (Red Plum)
French’s Fried Onions. Since green bean casserole season is upon us we will likely see some great sales that we can match with this $0.50/1 coupon. (Smart Source)
Kellogg’s Cereals. A $1/1 coupon for cereal will most certainly get us cereal beneath my target price of $1 per box, but will likely get us something close to free. (Red Plum)
Kisses, Reese’s, York, Kot Kat or Rolo Bags. Matched with a promotion at Walgreens or CVS we should get candy for less than $1 per bag, but hopefully free with this $1/2 coupon. (Smart Source)
Rubbermaid Containers. These make great additions to gift baskets for college students or kitchen-themed baskets. A $1/1 coupon is the best we’ll see and will turn into some low-priced storage containers. (Smart Source)
Coupons Doubled in Value
If you can shop at a store where the value of your coupon is doubled and these products go on sale before the coupon expires, then you will likely get a freebie or something close to it. In the Twin Cities Rainbow Foods is the only store I know of that regularly doubles coupons; check out Rainbow Foods coupon policies.
Emerald Nuts. The last batch of $1/1 any Emerald Nuts product 5-ounce or larger turned into freebies for us after doubling. Hopefully this will too. (Smart Source)
Hungry Jack Instant Potatoes. Double this $1/2 coupon when they are on sale for $1 each and we’ll get two packages free. (Red Plum)
Nabisco Crackers or Easy Cheese. Wait for the right sale and I suspect the crackers or easy cheese will be free when this $1/1 coupon is doubled in value. (Smart Source)
Uncle Ben’s. I am hopeful we’ll see these on sale for $1.66 per box, double this $0.75/1 and pick them up for $0.16 each.
Yoplait Delights and Yo-Plus. If you’ve been here any time at all you know that $1 off yogurt coupons turn into free yogurt when doubled. This week’s $1/1 Yoplait Delights and $1/1 Yo-Plus are no exception (Smart Source)
Eating Out/Recreation
Boston Market. Various money off purchase coupons.
Build a Bear. $5 off any animal priced $10 or higher.
Quiznos. Various including buy one sandwich, get one free.

Here we go again. I did not receive any coupon inserts in today’s Star Trib. paper. We get it delivered at home. We also did not receive a Target ad or a Best Buy ad. At the top of the Star Trib front page it said $209 in coupon savings. This also happened to us on 10/25 as did several other people. Sounds like it does not do any good to call Star Trib. Wonder if it would do any good to contact Target and Best Buy to inform them their weekly ads are not getting delivered with the newspaper. This is getting very frustrating!!
I had my coupon inserts in my delivered paper, but no Walgreens ad. Seems like it’s very hit and miss what you get in the paper lately. I suppose it is human error with the people who put the paper together at the warehouse, perhaps?
I was able to get the early Sunday paper on Saturday afternoon. I got them at Caribou and they also had them at Coborn’s. I was pretty excited to find that they are only $.50 and had all the coupons and ads that the Sunday paper has.
i wanted to the get the 50 cent star trib yesterday. i always make sure there are coupon inserts but there were before i buy but no coupons in the ones at the gas station. how lucky mara.
i purchased 3 early editions last saturday at rainbow, plymouth>>>got nothing from all 3 papers> thought i would be smarter this time and purchased 3 of same at newspaper box, again with the same results, absolutely nothing. no ads, no coupons, nothing. beginning to see why its only .50
I checked a convenience store in Waseca, MN and no coupon inserts at all in the Star and Trib, despite the advertising on the front of “Save $209.” Last week I didn’t even get a response from Star and Trib customer service when I made them aware of the situation via email. So I bought 2 Pioneer Press papers today. Complete with coupons and sales ads.
Under “Everyday, Regular Priced Items” it is mentioned that if you buy one Smart Balance buttery spread you can get sour cream for free. Is this in the Sunday paper? I went to the Red Plum website and found nothing. I’m still new to this site.
We’ve had great luck with the early Sunday edition. Last week, we got it from the gas station near our Mpls home and this week we got it at Cub. Both times we picked them up before 10 am, so maybe it helps to get them early?
Try Holiday ladies! I buy it there every Saturday or Sunday and always get the coupons, Target ad, etc.
I live by Mora, so out of metro area, I have had great luck with getting the coupons in Saturday’s paper.
The last two Sat.’s I’ve gotten the paper at Coborns in Albertville and i check to make sure the coupons are there first. The only thing I’ve found as far as the ads go is the Target one hasn’t been in any of the papers I buy on Sat. Anyone else finding this to be true of the early edition?
ANN – I have tried Holiday. MANY holidays stores actually both last Saturday and this past Saturday. From the sound of it on ‘A Full Cup’ it really is just hit or miss. Consider yourself lucky if you got a Saturday paper for .50 WITH coupon inserts. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Star Trib is having major problems with this. Please make the manager at the store(s) you go to to get the paper aware of this so they can let the star trib know. (I also call star trib as well but it doesn’t hurt for it to come from someone “more important”)
Annette I have had that same problem at the Coborns in Albertville.
Has everyone been receiving CVS ads? I haven’t received one in the last month…but I have received at least 2-3 Walgreens ads in the paper I have delivered to my home.
I have an ongoing battle with the StarTribune about coupons. If the paper reads on the front page that there will be $209 in coupons enclosed, then they had best be in there or it is false advertising.
NEVER email them, they will ignore you. Call. If (or perhaps I should say when ) they tell you coupons are not guaranteed, ask them why they advertise that they will be included. Tell them you will contact the state attorney general’s office, and if they still won’t budge, then do contact the AG’s office.
I’m hoping someone could answer this question for me as it would save me some time. I bought the Sunday PP last week and the Sunday PP again this week. I’m really frustrated with the Strib at the moment.
Anyways…I normally go through the paper page by page just in case there’s a coupon hidden in one of the sectiongs. I’m in the middle of writing a headache inducing clinical research paper and haven’t had the time, chance, energy, motivation, etc to go through the papers yet. Besides the coupon inserts, are there any coupons in any hidden anywhere in last Sunday and this Sundays’ paper? If not, off to the recycle bin they go.
Thanks
I don’t live in the Mpls area but I used to deliver our newspaper for extra money. On Sundays, there would be three separate parts of the paper for me to put together.
So….I would think it is either:
1. Human Error (although a LOT of error from the sounds of it!)
2. Someone(s) are deciding to give themselves less work to do
3. Someone(s) decide they want the coupons instead of giving them to their rightful owners
As far as the Star Tribune’s customer service – don’t get me started! I subscribed for home delivery of the Sunday Tribune (I live in Fargo, ND) and it didn’t have coupons or any ads in it. I waited for the next week in case there was some kind of a mixup. Same deal. I canceled my subscription and let them know it was because of the lack of coupons. They CONTINUED to send me the paper for WEEKS and then turned me over to a collection agency when I wouldn’t pay the extra charge! I just FINALLY got that straightened out .
But when I go to my local convenience store, I have always received the coupons but no sale papers. This is not a big deal to me since I also buy the local paper (although it has less coupons). But if I don’t get there early enough, the Star Tribune sells out quickly.
