Aldi Shopping List 11/29 – 12/5/09

aldi

These are the items on sale at Aldi near rock bottom prices. Aldi’s prices are regional, so prices at your store may vary.

If you’ve never shopped at Aldi bring a quarter (not 25 cents, but a quarter) for the refundable deposit on your cart and your own bags. They take cash or debit card, but not credit card. Find an Aldi near you.  Remember that their produce is ripe for eating when you buy it, so be prepared to eat it, freeze, can it or otherwise use it up right away.

Your turn: What else are you getting at Aldi this week?

Produce

Tangerines. $0.33 per pound (sold in 3-pound bag for $0.99)

Navel Oranges. $0.38 per pound (sold in 4-pound bag for $1.49)

Baking

Mini Marshmallows. $0.69 per bag

Brown or Powdered Sugar. $0.95 per bag.

Raw, Sliced or Slivered Almonds. $4.77 per pound (sold in 6-ounce bag for $1.79)

Walnuts. $3.78 per pound (sold in 8-ounce bag for $1.79)

Meat

Ham. $0.79-1.29 per pound depending on whether you get the shank or butt. I would expect that we’ll see these kinds of prices (or better?) on ham right at Christmastime like we saw the best turkey prices in years at Thanksgiving.

Bought a shank ham at Aldi for Thanksgiving and it was really good, just a little fatty.
Overall we are going to buy them again as you cannot beat the price.

    Mary,

Thank you for letting us know, you always wonder about such things. I think I will try the ham there now.

I bought a spiral ham at aldi when they were clearing them out awhile back and had it in my freezer. I baked it this weekend when my husband had a couple of friends over. They raved about it. This was the first time I had bought a spiral ham — I’d buy one again. Can’t remember the name on the ham, but I think it is an Aldi-type brand.

I bought 16 oz.sour cream for .$79 in Rosemount. Cheaper than the “deal” at Rainbow. I also bought pecans that tasted fresh and sweet. I’m picky about pecans.

    Carrie,
You say Aldi’s take cash or debit card. Do they take checks??? All my cards including my cash card rings up as a credit card

  6. Traci

    Julie,
I use my check card and just slide it through, it dosen’t ask for a pin. So I think your card will work.
