Carrie:

I have no idea what can and can’t be done w/websites or blogging sites, so excuse my ignorance if this idea is totally impossible. A lot of times, I will find myself looking for coupons that have been mentioned on here already, but that I didn’t use right away, and maybe need 2 weeks after initial mention on shopping list. Is there any way to search on here for coupons so I can go directly to the original post and see where to find it in my bizillion pages of coupon inserts?

Nate-we have wireless and our internet service knows that we have wireless and did not make us pay anything different-i am sure that sharing internet would be just fine. Our internet company never asked how many computers will access the internet-they just advise that the more people on, the slower it will be.

Nate--don't do the free cable deal--unethical yes, wouldn't be worth it when you are found out. . .
also Tabby--I have a reconditioned Dyson I got off of amazon.com 5 yrs ago for less than 1/2 price of a regular Dyson--never has broken down--but I would definitely call their very fair customer service and see what they will do-- it would repair cheaper than a new vacum, I would guess. I love Dyson so much, I would never switch.
Carrie: I love the Rainbow double coupon scenarios too--because I find I am still spending more than I should trying to meet the threshold-- rats! Maybe you could set up a separate place on you blog for readers to post just their Rainbow double coupon threshold-meeting-scenarios. I know your responsibilities have exploded these days!

Nate-I also have a rebate earning credit card. I charge everything on the card and then pay it off every month to rack up points. If you're disciplined, it's a good way to earn a little cash or merchandise on the side.

Thank-you for the feedback all on Coborns! Just a few comments I would like to add about all the posts. I think it is so individual on the time and your situation as to what you spend doing this. I myself look at it as a parttime job and paying myself back. Allowing me to spend the money on things I like too. The more you do it the more it gets easier. Also I never buy anything I wouldn't normaly use unless it is free and then I can give it away etc. The tips on insurance shopping are dead on correct. The insurance industry is turning to a hard market-meaning all lines will be going up in premium in the near future. Get to know a independent agent and they can shop for you many companys-one call.Raise your deductible also. More more important-make sure you have the right coverage on your house and its contents. It is usually most people's biggest investments.

Lisa -
Yeah, it's really a bummer you can't choose which channels you get with cable. I've considered dropping it altogether, but it's the one splurge item we get every month. We don't go to movies or shows or anything like that that costs money, so we feel we can afford the cost. I am due to call them up and ask for a better deal though. The last time I did that they said no for the first time. Usually they say yes right away and give me whatever deal I'm asking for.

Nate--Even with the internet I'd be leary of the ethicacy, I think restaurants and coffee shops pay for a different deal than a regular household. I'd say that for sure sharing cable wouldn't be legit. My husband and I decided to forego cable all together, we save $60/month, and we don't miss it. It's too bad you can't just buy a few channels.

Jennifer and Gennifer--do you have to spend a certain dollar amount before coupons?

JC - The deal with the comments is that some get held for moderation and they wait for me to finish a meeting, be done with my kids or whatever else has taken me from the computer. Then I approve them and they go into the mix at the time they were submitted, not when they were approved. Annoying. I am working to get something set-up so you can have new comments emailed to you if you want, but you can opt-out if you don't want that too. Wish me well in that venture :)

Sorry for the double posts - maybe Carrie can delete
Sometimes there is a real delay in posts appearing.

Has anyone else noticed that at times you can read these comments.
Then come back later or the next day to try and see new comments - and you expect them to be at the end - but instead you find new comments mixed in throughout the others you already read? And then sometimes comments just don't flow right

Cheap Date Nights, which includes free salsa dancing with no cover charge at Cantina #1 at MOA and cheap appetizers. My family does not drink, but they have specials for that as well. I have attached the link to their site here ://www.cantina1.com/

Nate -
Other ideas:
1. Buy items at the end of the season when they are heavily discounted. (We buy at Target when items are 50%-75% off)
2. Get new quotes on homeowners and auto insurance at least every two years even if its with your current insurance company. (We did this and saved 36% on homeowners and $50% on auto ins and this was with our current ins co. They said it was due to credit score, but I feel they just give you a better deal as if you were a "new" customer with them)
3. Become knwledgeable of "specials" that are available for your cable/internet by watching their TV ads and/or websites. Then call the cable company and ask what specials are available for you. If they do not offer something similar tell them the "special" you heard of and ask if they can offer it to you. (we did this and lowered our cable/internet by $50 per month PLUS got free HBO for 1 year PLUS locked into a second year with only a $10/mo. increase.) The agent recommended that anytime you have a current special that is expiring to call them back and see if they can offer you a current special to take advantage of.
4. Don't forget to look at the coupon section available in your telephone books. (Every year we take advantage of the coupon for $9.95 oil change at a local service station) Can't beat that price. There are others for restaurants, construction, labor, etc.

Hope some of this helps you or someone else

Today I went to Cub and I got the Brawny and Northern mega packs so I could use the $4 coupon. They were marked as being $6.99 each in the ad, but when the Brawny rang up it deducted $2.20 off the original $6.99 sale price. Not sure why; this was before she deducted my coupons. So that made it a real good deal with the $4 coupon too. I was at the Brookly Park/Zane Ave Cub>
Not sure if all the Cubs are doing this instant price lowering on the Brawny 6 packs.
