In addition to the couple of weekly sales you’ll want to be sure to pick up the items in the Ongoing Sales list, if you haven’t already, because many of those coupons expire on August 31. Target released $27 in new baby coupons here today (tomorrow I’m sure they be in Organic Grocery Deals’ database). Remember that those can be used with a manufacturer-issued coupon on the same item.
Thanks to Marcy for her help with the weekly deals and for you readers pointing out other things throughout the week that I incorporated as well. I firmly believe that we all save more when we work together.
Your turn: What other deals did you find that I have not yet included on the list?

What store has the 4 lb bags of purina one dog food? We have 3 dogs all at about 100 lbs and we go through a ton of dog food so I’m dying to find this deal!
The only $4 Hasbro coupon I’m seeing on that link is for a different toy? Does it work on other Hasbro games as well?
It must have reached its print limit. I took it off the list to avoid confusion. Thanks for pointing that out!
I’m not sure if this deal is still on, but I seem to recall a $5 gift card deal for Nexxus (buy 2) that runs until 8/31. My PNS (same as Rainbow) flyer has a $3 off mfr coupon, that should be good at Target (they are also right next to each other here in my town.) When I did this deal in July, I had a $2 q and the shampoo I bought was around $8.32. We prefer Nexxus, so this sounds like a good deal of about $2.90 with tax. Any body know more?
I had trouble today with the skittles coupon, nextcare bandaid coupon and artisan miniloaf of bread. The cashier stated “the coupon is for $1. The item needs to be at least $1.” The items were marked at 99 cents or lower. Is she correct? I didn’t make a fuss, just put the items back. I had some other great deals though!
I have had a problem using the Skittles coupon once, but then it worked other times. The Target coupons don’t specify a size (on most), so I get a little bugged when cashiers put up a fuss. I would just try them again another time.
If anybody has a membership at Lifetime Athletic Clubs, in the women’s locker room (at least at the Plymouth club) there are stacks of coupons for Edge or Skintimate Shave Gel for $1.50 off one. With Target’s price of $1.89 per can this week, that makes for a 39 cent can of shave gel.
Gretchen,
When I went to Target today the coupon just took $.99 off my order instead of $1. No problem. It was the Target in Mason City IA (no, I don’t normally shop in IA but I had to meet someone anyway) but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work anywhere.
Karen
I used the $1/1 General Mills cereal (Target IP coupon) to get a free single serve cup of Honey Nut Cheerios tonight. I also bought the Skittles Crazy Cores with no problem tonight and last week at the Eagan Target.
Hi Carrie
I found this from the A LOT of Savings Target web site:
$1.00 Almay Makeup Remover Pads (travel size)
-$1.00 mfgr. cpn. 8/2 SS (exp. 10/24/09)
=FREE
I found them at the Target Lakeville. They only had 1 left but a nice employee scanned the item and went back to get more. It didn’t work too well on my Rimmel Mascara, but the containers could be handy.
woodbury cashier told me they are cracking down on coupons. the purchase price must be equal to or greater than the coupon so no free skittles or bandages today. and she wouldnt take my $1 off axe target coupon and my free axe product coupon. she said that it is greater than the total. so no money maker either.
Hilary, the Woodbury TARGET is a stickler when it comes to coupons. If you go to the TARGET off 94 (near Sun Ray), the manager there is more willing to accept $1.00 coupon for $0.99 cent product. For me, I always look for a young kid or an older individual when I’m checking out at TARGET. Also, I will let my cashier know that I have X amount of coupons. I think it becomes frustrating for the cashiers when I hand them 23 coupons. Letting them know ahead of time will help them process the tedious task of scanning or manually typing in the stack.
This is a great week for deals at Target! I was so excited to go. The store in Maple Grove has stocked the Canine Bistro since last week so I was able to pick those up this time, and I picked up the single packages of Reese’s at the front instead of doing the 8 Packs.
I picked up a TON of stuff for under $1! Check it out here:
http://abbyscents.blogspot.com/2009/08/week-of-0823-target.html
If you are having trouble in Woodbury, request a copy of the coupon policy from Target Corporate and bring it with you. They are supposed to adjust the coupon down to the value of the item. I have never had a problem when a manager was called over. If you have issues, call corp and complain that Woodbury isn’t following the coupon policy.
I have used the artisan bread coupons on loaves under $1 at the Target in Edina and Minnetonka many times…the system automatically reduces the discount to the price of the product.
Gretchen and all,
This is a long post. I have now experienced what you guys have.
I shopped at the Lakeville Target on 08/25/09. I had difficulty using coupons. There were mutliple issues. First, I had 3 coupons for 3 bottles of Veet. Each coupon said “Limit 1 coupon per purchase on product shown” I was told I could only buy one bottle per TRANSACTION. The coupon says one per purchase not transaction. So by that logic if I have 2 coupons for 2 boxes of cereal I can only buy one box of cereal per trip? Everywhere I have ever used coupons allows one coupon per product, including previous experiences at Target.
I also wanted to purchase Kashi granola bars. I had multiple coupons for the 10 boxes I intended to purchase. Again I was told I could only use one coupon even though I had multiple coupons and multiple boxes of the bars. So I gave the cashier 6 boxes to put back, as I know other stores will let me use those coupons in one transaction. When I got home I looked at my receipt and I was charged for 9 boxes of the Kashi Granola bars when I only took 4 home!!!!! Even though it looked like the cashier was taking the ones I returned off the order.
I also had Target web coupons for Skittles Crazy Core and Artisan bread. Those coupons do not have any size requirements printed on them. I was told I could not use them for the products I selected, single serve Skittles and the individual Artisan breads. Again, the coupons didn’t have size requirements. The coupons didn’t state that so I don’t understand why it wasn’t honored.
Another coupon I had from SmartSource wasn’t accepted because the product “didn’t look like the picture on the front of the coupon.” If the coupon says $1 off one Johnson’s body care product, does the picture on the coupon really need to match the product being bought? It didn’t say it was good only for one scent, or one size.
I am completely frustrated with Target. Especially since I had used the same coupons at the Mason City IA store previously with no problems. Just like Nicki said, the coupon automatically adjusted “down” to 99 cents instead of $1. Basically the cashier didn’t want to have to hit “F1″ to accept the coupon. If it didn’t scan she wouldn’t take it. She even called over the front end (cashier) manager and it was the manager that made a stink about using the multiple coupons on Kashi and Veet.
I have sent an email to Target customer service and have not received an answer yet. I have had bad experiences with Target in the past and thought things were better after I visited the Mason City IA store. Guess not.
Karen
Milk is on sale for $1.79 and 2% is “Even Lower” at $1.52 for 1 gallon. I was at the Pilot Knob Target.
Hey Karen – I really would have asked the cashier to call a manager. You really got taken.
I too had a not-so-good cashier today. I had a bunch of both Target and manufacturer’s coupons for the same items and she was telling me I could not use them. I just kept telling her yes I could because one was a Target coupon and one was a manufacturer’s coupon. I used the bogo Target coupon for Mars candy along with one of the Freebie Friday coupons (or whatever its called) and she said I couldn’t do that. I just kindly ask her to swipe the free one, so she did and she said “oh, it worked”. I just tried to be really nice and patient with her. When I checked my receipt, I saw that she didn’t swipe my Target coupon for Tide, only the manufacturer’s coupon, so it wasn’t the greatest deal. I’m seriously thinking about taking the Tide back to return it and try again. Lots of trouble for a dollar, but those dollars add up.
Hey – I got lucky and found someone who contacted Target Corporate, and had them mail them the coupon policy for ALL US Target Stores. If you call 800-440-0680, they can direct you to get a mailed policy. Or have them call that number while in the store, because according to their printed policy, “We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we’re able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.” This is from the krazycouponlady. Thought it would be great since so many people are having so much trouble with uneducated CSL’s in Targets.
I just wanted to let you know I sent the concerns about coupon cashier issues to Target Corporation and said it was really giving them bad PR with the growing coupon shopper community. Also that the recent TV show could draw more bad press as people went to Carrie’s website. I said I don’t want to get a generic answer, but think that management at Target should address this with training of the cashiers. Especially since the cashiers also charged customers for things they didn’t take home! I will let you know if I get a positive proactive answer. We’ll see…….
I also sent my own concerns to Target corporate. I spent 20 minutes the other night trying to use coupons, and most of that was waiting for a manager who never came. The cashier finally just put the coupons through.
If Target has a problem with using the coupons as written, then they need to work on wording them more specifically. Until then, I’ll use them as written, no matter how long it takes!
In other news, I snagged a travel size Connect 4 and a travel size Hungry Hungry Hippos game for 99 cents each using Hasbro $4 off coupons. Worth a trip right there!
I’ve had the same trouble with coupons for the travel size items as well. The cashier didn’t take the 1.00 tide coupon, i said it didn’t specify that is wasn’t valid on travel size, but she said that on the coupon it says in small print “redeem ONLY by purchasing the brand sized indicated,” and she meant the picture (the picture of course has the full size items not travel size). I know a lot of you out there use this coupon for free detergent – but does it seem valid? Any advice? The same goes for the free almay make-up remover pads – it said on brand size indicated or something like that…
Target’s coupon policy can be found at:

I am going to print this and take it with me so I do not have another bad Target experience with my coupons. I don’t like to have to be hassled because I am trying to save money and be made to feel like I am trying to pull one over on them. They do need to realize they are not the only horse in town. Prior to going by Carrie’s shopping lists, I hadn’t been to a Target for quite a while, so now that they got me in their door, they have won that battle over their competition. I guess keeping me as a customer is up to them.
I’m sorry to read about so many problems with Target accepting the coupons. I just got back and had no issues.
I got 2 packages of Bic Pens for free. I got the skittles too. I bought two packages of the single serving ones next to the checkout, so I paid .02 for those. I also was able to get the baby shampoo deal and stacked the coupons. I got bananas for .06/lb after the coupon too! I had a young guy cashier and was really worried that the register was going to beep, but it didn’t. I handed him the manufacturer coupons first and then the store coupons.
I have been to Target a few times in the past few days and have had some cashiers tell me that they could not use more than one coupon, store or mgfr, on an item. I intisted and they did put them through.
Just wanted to pass on a few great deals this week at Target:
The BIGI refill free coupon for the Glade scented oils- The tins are on sale 3/$5 or $1.66 each and the refills are on $2.50. So for 1.66 + tax you get the tin and a refill. I got a few!
Also the $1 off general mills cereal coupon does not specify a size, so you can get the individual serving bowls that are $1.00 for free. I have gotten multiple bowls this week, great for an on the go snack. I have had none of the cashiers give me a problem about using this coupon, so hopefully you all can get some.
I wanted to point out that the Target store coupon for $1/1 Gerber feeding accessory works on single Gerber bottles. They are priced at $1 each, and there is a short size for 0-3 months and a tall size for 3+ months. I’ve got a pile going now, which is good since I am using them stuffed with colored tissue from the Dollar Tree for decorations for a baby shower. If you don’t know a new mom who could use some free bottles, you could donate them to a women’s shelter, etc. That’s what I’m doing with a lot of my freebies- we can only go through so many Spongebob toothpastes ourselves! :D
I recently had problems too using the coupons on the trail size items. I called corporate and was told I was in the right. I was also told to just call corporate if I was having a problem and they would let the cashier know how to adjust the coupons down. It would be a pain to stand there in line and have to call- but maybe to get consistency we need to start doing that if we have problems???
Hey all-
Just came from Target in Maple Grove and did not have any issues at all. My total before coupons was $127 and after coupons was $71.84. My cashier did not question any coupons and if the register did beep, she just overode the transaction.
I got the Reeses cups, which were $1.00 and used my coupon so total was 45 cents.
I got a pack of pampers for 9.99 then used Target coupon for 2.00 off and then mfg coupon for 1.00 and then there was another coupon that if you bought diapers you could get wipes valued at 2.39 so I got those for free. So diapers and wipes only totaled 6.99.
I got Johnsons baby powed for 2.19 with Target coupon for 1.00 off and printed coupon for 1.00 so total was 19 cents
I got Dove promises peanut butter for 3.04 minus Target coupon for 1.00 and mfg coupon for 1.00 so only 1.04 for these yummy treats.
I used two Combos coupons so they were 1.79 after coupon only 79 cents
I bought one pack of skittles at the register at it was 64 cents, the cashier just over rode the 1.00 coupon so I acutally made money on this one.
The coupons for the archer farm trail mix for 50 cents off so I bought the small bags for 1.09 so they came to 69 cents each.
I had a coupon off my cup from AMC theaters for a free 20 ounce coke zero so I used that.
Tylenol 8 hr 24 count was 3.59 plus a coupon in the paper for 2.00 off so 1.59 was a good price.
The Purina One cat food is a good deal too. It was 5.99 plus Target coupon for 2.00 off plus there was a coupon on the bag for 1.00 off so 2.99 is great!
The A1 sauce was a nice deal too. It was 2.44 and the coupon from the newspaper for 2.00 off brought the bottle to 44 cents.
The last good deal was the coupon for 1.00 off any gerber onsies. I found a two pack in the clearance section that retailed for 4.99 was on clearance for 1.24 so I paid 24 cents.
Good luck to everyone. Rake in the deals when you can.
I had no issue using the Target coupon plus a manufacters coupon.
Happy Shopping.
