I love weeks like this at Rainbow! There are lots of great deals after the value of coupons is doubled on Wednesday, plus lots of fillers that make it pretty easy to do multiple transactions. In fact, I will try to get my personal shopping list posted for you late Tuesday night or early Wednesday (truth be known I usually do it minutes before walking out the door late on Wednesday night, which is why I don’t routinely publish it). I also desperately need to go grocery shopping since I didn’t go last week due to my craziest-ever schedule; that means I went shopping once in August and we lived out of the pantry stockpile and off produce and milk from Aldi. It’s time for me to restock.
What are your favorite fillers this week? Some of mine include (fillers are items I buy even without a coupon to help me reach a required spending threshold. In Rainbow’s case I need my total to reach $25 so my coupons double):
Chicken breasts $1.88 per pound
Red Grapes $0.99 per pound (I never pay more than this)
Van Camp’s Beans
Cantaloupe $2.00 each
Just for Men Hair Color (free after mail-in rebate)
The Pampers deal I highlight within the list (it will easily put me over $25 when I add in 3 more items whose coupons I want doubled)
You can read this for full details, but in essence Rainbow will double the face value of up to 5 coupons when the shelf price (which is usually the full price) totals $25 before coupons on Wednesdays. That means a $1 off coupon becomes like $2 off. Learn to read this shopping list here. You should be able to print each online coupon two times from each link using your browser’s back button and if you have problems printing these online coupons try the suggestions found here. If you’d like more copies of any individual coupon, then check out The Coupon Clippers.

Favorite standby filller for our family is the Rhodes frozen dinner rolls or sticky buns. They are $2.49 in the frozen section. Use a $1/1 – doubled and they are only .49
Thank you for giving a deal idea with one set of inserts! I love your site!
Hi – Just wanted you to know the pizza deal unfortunately won’t work. I went to Rainbow yesterday to get the Flatbread pizzas because I had some printable $1.25/1 that expired yesterday. Well, there’s a big sign on the freezer door that says their ad was mistaken. It’s the flatbread MELTS that are included in the $4/$10 sale. Darn!
Also the Nivea Lip product coupon for $1 off in this weekends Red Plum works because they are on sale for 1.99, so free after doubled coupon!
Is anyone else having problems with the Trop50 OJ coupon? I can’t get it to print in IE, and Firefox tells me there’s a missing or invalid parameter.
I had the ad with me last night for the Flatbread pizzas. Like Rachel said, it was the Flatbread melts that were tagged at 4/$10,which wasn’t what I wanted. The pizzas were marked as usual price, $6.59. However there was no sign saying the ad was marked wrong, and I had 4 $1.50 coupons for the Flatbread pizzas. I had made the trip just for the pizzas, and to use up my expiring coupons. I took the pizzas and the coupons along with the ad to the customer service and they did give me the price as it was stated in the ad. They had to ring them up with a price override, but they took my coupons too.My feeling is, they should honor their ad as printed.
I wrote to Roundy’s corporate office (emailed) and let them know what had happened and I also gave the customer service people credit for being patient, and honoring the sale price as it was stated in the ad even though that looks now it was a misprint. I didn’t know it was a misprint, and would have been a big bummer making a trip just to get those pizzas and then not be allowed to purchase them at the sale price listed.
Also, the milk coupon did not come up at the service desk cash register when she rang me, so she wrote me out a free milk coupon.
Total price: $6.50 for 4 flatbread pizzas and a half gallon of Roundy’s OJ and a free milk coupon. And, some time and patience and persistence by me.
Mr Clean Spray Cleaner $2.00
Use $0.50/1 from 8/30 Procter & Gamble insert
Final price: $1.00 after doubled coupon
**There is a $0.75/1 in the Home Made Simple (Procter & Gamble) coupon book I got in the mail. Final price: $0.50 after doubled coupon. Here is the Pocket Your Dollars posting about the coupon book: http://www.pocketyourdollars.com/2009/08/new-home-made-simple-coupon-book-2/
Just to point this out in case others don’t notice: On coupons.com where the is the link for Yoplait yogurt $.50/6 coupons, there are also $.60/3 for the same product. This is a great deal! 3 yogurt cups for a total of $.30 with doubled coupon.
Is anyone else having trouble finding the printable Tony’s Pizza coupon? The link brings to SmartSource.com and i looked 3 times and it’s not there. :( Help please if you know where the online printable is.
Carrie-
I’m wondering what you think a good price is for name brand diapers (per diaper)?
I got the Trop50 coupon to work by going directly to tropicana.com website and downloading it from there.
Does anyone know if the Kelloggs $2 off 2 new Kelloggs “FIBER” cereals Q in 8/30 RB will work for the Kelloggs Buy 5 get $5 off order and Free milk deal?
Just wanted to add that there is a $2 off coupon for Pampers in this past weekend’s P&G insert that might work as well instead of the $1 off one. True, it won’t double, but if you need space for a fifth coupon using the $2 one might free up that space.
I don’t have the coupon handy to check for sure and I already used them this weekend at Target so someone else may need to verify that for me. :)
Jen – I think the $2 off is for Swaddlers, which would be fine if you want that kind. Good idea!
Did anyone else not get the SS in their 8/30 early edition? I didn’t even realize there was one until I looked at this list!
Sarah – I didn’t get one in my early edition.
The Rainbow on Lagoon in Mpls didn’t put the Honey Bunches of Oats- Pecan Variety on sale. It was left at $3.89. All the other ones were on sale but the coupon was for the Pecan one. I was disappointed and asked customer service and the manager. They said no that one is NOT on sale. :(
The Rainbow in Coon Rapids (Riverdale) didn’t take the Knorr coupon because they “couldn’t read it.” I think “Un (1) producto Knorr” is pretty obvious and the address for the retailer to send the coupon is in english (to Texas.) My logic is that if a store is going to refuse a legit coupon, I’m not going to argue with them, instead I’m just going to spend the money on the product elsewhere where I don’t have to deal with a hassle. Just a heads up if you are planning on using the Knorr coupon printed in spanish.
Anyone know what insert had a recent Folgers Q in it? Can’t find it–frustration! Thx for help!
I just got back from shopping at Rainbow and they did not double my Ittibitz buy one get one free coupon. Just FYI.
I also discovered that they give a 5 cent credit for every bag that you bring in with you to bag your own groceries. I happened to pick up some freebies at the state fair and had them along. Every little bit helps!
SarahBB, Folgers would be in the 8/2 red plum. There is a instant cofee and a regular coffee one.
Thank you, Kim!!
I tried to use a coupon with a couple BOGO deals last week and my cashier would not except my $1/2 cause I wasn’t actually buying 2 she said.
Lindsey M ~ Knorr Sides are also 10 for $10 at Cub this week – maybe they will take your coupon. If they do I would consider contacting customer service for Rainbow and letting them know that Cub got your business.
The Annie’s crackers coupon is gone! :(
:: ***Deal idea***
Buy 1 Pampers big box for $18.49

Use $0.75/1 Crest from 8/30 Procter & Gamble insert
Spend $17.93, get $5 off next health & beauty order:::
I did the deal idea but where do you get the $5.00 off your next health & beauty order?
I went to the Eden Prairie Rainbow this evening and they were out of the Magic Erasers and the Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup. I’m new to this, so I was wondering if I should have asked for a rain check and would they have doubled my coupon with a rain check? I was bummed not to get 2 of these items since I was planning on doubling the coupons on these items.
Alison,
I was at EP Rainbow today too. They would have given you a rain check on those items, but you would have to wait to use your coupon next time when you are buying the product. I got two of the Mr Clean Erasers today ( I love them!), but I saw a lady at the register next to me stocking up. I was glad I went down that isle before she did. Good luck!
Anybody who hasn’t gone to Rainbow, mine in Savage (I think) has some of the Glade fragrance collection candles on sale for $3.50 or something similar, so I used this as a filler with my $3/1 q that I’ve had for awhile. I think it was from All You Mag.
I had to get a raincheck for the oscar mayer bacon (1.50/2 q). They were totally cleaned out. The lunchables on sale are not the ones for the q’s (the q is for with water lunchables).
The Magic Erasers were also on their way to being totally cleaned out at my Rainbow as well. I love those!
A good filler is also the Pepsi deal this week. 1.48 WYB 5, the regular price is really high.
Did anybody try to pick up some Fiber One shakes? I was going to buy these and they did not even have them in the store!
Palermo’s pizza were buy one get one free. You can register here http://www.palermoslafamiglia.com/lafamiglia/join-la-famiglia.aspx and get a coupon for a 1.00 off of one. So even without the double coupon it would be a great deal
Buy 2 pizza at 5.89
Use two coupons at 1.00/1
Pizza would be 1.94 each
I really like these pizzas, just wish my rainbow would start carrying the deep dish variety.
Sherry,
The P&G $5 off deal is at the bottom of your Rainbow Receipt
I lucked out on the Knorr coupons. The person who came over to help my cashier, spoke spanish, so she just did a override on the register to take the coupons.
I also got a great deal on the Glade candles… my rainbow did have the 2oz size but they credited me the $3.29(approx) towards the 4oz size which was on sale for $3.49. The larger size was also on sale for $6.29 and i had 2 $3 pf glade gift cards that they let me use so I got both candles for $0.49!
The ad for the DiGiornos pizzas does say it is for the “Pizzas for One” not the regular size. just as an FYI. You need to look closely at the picture and at the print below.
The Pepsi deal was great! At $4.79 shelf price, you buy 5 and you’re nearly to the $25 transaction already. I had 2 $1/1 and three .55/1 coupons. When they were doubled, I paid 20 cents for 5 12 packs of soda!!
I thought the 80% lean ground chuck was a good deal this week, too – I stocked up since we were completely out of ground beef. For the $85 I spent last night, I got 18 lbs of ground beef, 1 thing of Tide, 5 12-packs of coke, 8 packages of Oscar Mayer weiners, 36 Yoplait yogurt cups, 2 gallons of milk, 4 DiGiorno singles, pop tarts, cereal, 2 packs of hot dog buns, 3 magic erase, 2 Mr. Clean sprays…gosh, the list goes on. What a great week! I used to regularly spend over $100 a week on groceries. At Rainbow, I’m typically spending $50-$60. Last night was high because I didn’t shop the week before.
Carrie, you are awesome, and this site is so great!
P.S. My regular cashier on Wednesday night, Susie, asked me how I found out about all this stuff, so I gave her the website, hopefully she’ll check it out, too!
Laura, where did you get the soda coupons?
FYI-Target will also give you a .05 cent credit for each bag brought in.
As a filler this week I bought a box of Ritz crackers-on sale for 2.50 (I think) and a box of Crackerfuls at $3.55 (I think) and used the By Ritz get Crackerfuls free coupon!
Kim-Signed up for the Palermos website and printed out the coupons but now I can’t find in the ad where it says that they’re BOGO??? Was it just a store special or something? Or unadvertised special? Or am I missing something here? I”d love to get them if I can figure out whether or non I”ll be able to get that deal. I go to the Chaska store.
I had a less than ideal experience on Wednesday night at the EP Rainbow too. Hershey’s Syrup and Magic Erasers were totally gone. Also, I bought the wrong kind of Crest with my Pampers diapers, so I didn’t get the $5.00 coupon. Also, my cashier forgot to swipe the Roundy’s rewards card with my 1st transaction. When I told her she said, “Oh, you didn’t get to $50 anyway, so it doesn’t matter.” And I told her, “It keeps track and accumulates,” and she didn’t believe me. They were also super low on stock on lots of other items. I was disappointed. So I went up to the service desk to get my rainchecks on the Hershey’s and Magic Erasers, and I asked her if she could give me the Roundy’s fuelperks and she said she’d have to re-ring my whole transaction. I said, “Forget it.” But then she gave me a $5 gift card and sounded mad at the cashier, so I think that cashier was going to get in a little trouble, whoops. I do feel that if they have items on ad, they shouldn’t be out of them by Wednesday. That’s just bad customer service. Oh well.
I didn’t get the $5 off coupon either. It was not at the bottom of my receipt. I didn’t know I had to buy a certain kind of Crest toothpaste. Disappointing as this was my first attempt doing the double coupon and trying to save money with PocketYourDollars. I did save money but I wish I could’ve saved more, next time.
Sherry – I didn’t get the $5 coupon either, noticed it and went to the Customer Service counter. I showed the gal the ad and she gave me a $5 gift card. Since you already left the store, I’d encourage you to call them and explain that you purchased $20 in goods, as advertised, but didn’t get a $5 coupon. Ask what you should do. Let us know what happens. –Carrie
Rachel – I checked on Sunday at the SLP Rainbow and they still have the pizzas BOGO. They are not in the add. Hopfully this is good at all Rainbows and not just the Saint Louis Park one.
