I am a new stockpile shopper. I've only been shopping like this for the last four months or so. A friend gave me some great advice regarding coupons, drugstores and some websites to get me started, it's amazing what you can do with a little bit of knowledge! I think I've actually been spending a little bit more than usual to build up my stockpile. Plus I hate to pass up a good deal! I have always been a "deal shopper" before I thought I was doing well before just buying the store brands & buying when on sale or clearance.
I now shop more often, use coupons and when there are hot deals I stock up.
I also started keeping a monthly spreadsheet to calculate my spending and savings rate. This has helped me determine the stores that I save the most at (CVS & Rainbow) and track my overall spending for the month.

Jessica - I understand the temptation to pick up deals when you can even if you don't need the items. I first check my budget to make sure I can truly afford it and if I don't need it, then I give it away to charity or a food shelf. --Carrie

I am a stockpile shopper. I don't know if it always benefits me because sometimes I can't resist a deal that's too good even if I don't need it. I hate to see a Wednesday that goes by and I haven't shopped at Rainbow's double coupon day.

I am proud to say that I am the STOCKPILE SHOPPER ~ Wasn't always that way though. It drives some of my friends and family crazy and I am the source of some jokes here and there ~ I mean really, who DOES need 8 tubes of toothpaste in the closet?? Still, when it's free it's free and if it comes down to us having too much because I've gotten MORE for free - then we donate it!
Now that I am so budget conscious it honest to God pains me if I 'need' something that isn't on sale or I don't have a coupon for if it's something I know I can get for a much better deal!
LOOOVE your tips! Keep them coming!!

I used to be the Everyday Go-To-Shopper but actually didn't realize or notice if items were on "sale". I just figured, "well I guess this is what groceries cost" so I bought what I bought when I wanted it. Now I've turned into a mega stockpile shopper. I probably spend about $30 a week. That's hard though when you figure in produce and entertaining. We do some entertaining every other week so it gets spendy to buy steaks and chicken when people come over. BUT - I make up for that by earning gift cards for prescription transfers or new prescription coupons. Plus I do My Points and Swagbucks to earn gift cards to keep my overall grocery costs low. I keep my eyes open for bank offers like the TCF bank offer at Cub - Free $50 for opening a checking account and another free $50 for refering my husband. That covered our groceries for a month at least.
