Rainbow Shopping List 6/28 – 7/4/09

This deal has expired and may no longer be valid.

 rainbow

These are the best deals this week at Rainbow.  In fact, there are so many awesome deals that I’m not sure I will be able to get them all and live within my weekly grocery budget – remember, a “good deal” isn’t a “good deal” if you cannot afford it in the first place.

Learn to read this shopping list here or if you are new to Rainbow’s double coupon days, read this to learn all about their coupon policies.

After considering the wealth of feedback I got last week I decided to scale the list back some to only include the best deals.  How does this change work for you?  Leave a comment or email me here with your feedback.

Your turn: If you plan to do multiple transactions this week at Rainbow what are you going to use for “fillers” to reach the $25 threshold.  As for me, I will probably use the Pediasure that’s free after mail-in rebate from 6/14 insert to help boost one order.  What will you use?

Comments

  1. Mary says:

I do up my own list each week and anxiously wait for yours to come out to see if I missed anything. Every week you always have an item I’ve missed. Thanks for another great week with coupon matchups.

  2. Jen says:

There was a $2 off coupon for Wanchai in the 6/21 SS – if you use that you can save your 5 doubling coupons for something else.

  3. Jessica says:

I like the new compact list. Thanks!

  4. Wendy says:

Question about the charcoal deal – The in ad coupon for the free brats says it is a manufacturers coupon. Can you stack with an insert coupon?

  5. Jennifer says:

I thought the Coke deal was a pretty good deal if you buy 5. I’ll be doing that. I’m not sure I can do another cereal deal. :)

  6. Karen says:

Thanks, Carrie! I also like to compare my list to yours to see what I missed.

Just an FYI, when I was in the store on Sunday I noticed that the regular Mini Wheats were not tagged as being part of the sale (though some varieties of Mini Wheats were). Maybe just a tagging error but perhaps be prepared for it not to be part of the deal.

Also, the Betty Crocker fruit snacks are B1G1 free again (see the in-store ad) and the catalina deal is still going on too.

  7. Christina says:

Thanks for the list! I was thinking of using the free cascade rinse coupon as filler (from the mailer I got this week -P&G maybe?) Does anyone know what the original price of that is?

Also, how much extra work would it be for you to include the original price of the items on your list (as stated in the ad)? This would really help me when calculating how many items I need to get to the $25 shelf price threshold.

  8. Mary says:

Yoplait Whips coupon says do not double.

    • Carrie Rocha says:

Mary – Ask at your Rainbow how they handle coupons that say do not double. My Rainbow (Maple Grove) has told me that they scan them and if they double, then they double – which they always do. I think being up front and honest in the questioning is a good practice. –Carrie

  9. Kara says:

The Kellogs cereal deal also includes keebler cookies. There are coupons for $1 off any 2 fudge shoppe cookies on coupons.com

  10. Tanya Hoven says:

I thought the cherries were a great price as was most of the fruit advertised.

  11. Candice says:

For the coke deal, the ad states “with separate $25 purchase”. Would that be $25 before or after discounts/ coupons?

  12. Keri says:

Does the Special K cereal count towards the deal?

  13. Laura says:

Spent $88.78 at Rainbow on $254.53 worth of stuff. 65% savings, and we got 4 packs of diapers and 10 12-packs of coke in that total.

I thought the $3.99 cheesecake was a good deal, too, and the potato salad.

At my Rainbow, the Coke “with separate $25 purchase” has a bit of fluctuation – one of my purchases was around $22 before coupons and before the Coke, but it still gave me the discount. I know in the past, they’ve told me when I ask, that as long as we’re not buying *just* the coke but are obviously doing additional shopping, they’ll honor the discount even if I don’t have $25 before the coke.

Carrie, thank you for all your work on this blog. You’ve really re-inspired me!

  14. Ashley says:

I was at Rainbow on Tuesday just grabbing Milk and Bread and I saw the Coke deal and grabbed 5 (The advertisement on the shelf didn’t say anything about the $25 purchase). My whole order was $21 and I still received the discount. Probably varies by store, but thought I would throw it out there… Thanks for the site Carrie. I love it!

  15. Joanna says:

Wow – this is my first time using Carrie’s website. I heard Carrie on KTIS and thought I would check it out. I didn’t know Rainbow doubled coupons on Wednesday. I got an unbelievable amount of food for $26, including 5 – 12 packs of diet coke. I even threw in a rotisserie chicken. I don’t think I spent “an additional $25″ for both the coupon deal and the coke deal, but I got the discounts anyway. Thanks a bunch! I’m hooked!

  16. Erin Rose says:

I know that when I did the coke deal this week, when he hit the total before scanning the coupons, the coke discounts rang through ($2.50 off each making them the sale price). Then he scanned the coupons. So, seeing that, I see that the $25 is before coupons. Hope that helps! I’m heading back today to help my mother do this deal. She is a Diet Coke freak!
