Rainbow Foods Shopping List 6/21 – 6/27/09

rainbow1

Just a small handful of freebies this week.  Be sure to check out the in-ad coupons on the back page of the ad.  Those that also had manufacturer’s coupons are included in this list.  Learn to read this shopping list here or if you are new to Rainbow’s double coupon days, read this to learn all about their coupon policies.

I have a question for you: Do you prefer having this list include nearly every item in the ad or just the items that I think are actually at or near their rock bottom price?  I’d like to hear from everyone on this so please leave a comment or email me here with your preference.

Carrie, I’d be fine with just those items that are near their rock-bottom price. Might save you some time, too :)

  2. Kara

When I read the list I usually think….”Would Carrie go for that price?” So, If you don’t think it’s a great deal, definately save yourself the time.
Thanks for all your hard work! I pray you get great restful sleep this week!

  3. Amy

I would rahter see only the near to or rock bottom prices. Thanks Carrie!!

  4. Karen

Good morning. The in-store ad shows the GM cereal/milk deal is on again this week! Buy 6 boxes of selected varieties and get $10 off your order plus 2 coupons for milk ($3.50/ea.)

  5. Megan

I would actually prefer to have all of the deals with the combined coupons (if it doesn’t take too much time). It would be nice if you could separate it into rock bottom prices and then other good deals, so that others that don’t want this addition, can just look at the rock bottom prices. I would prefer this because there are items that I have to buy every week regardless of if they are on sale or at rock bottom prices and it would be nice to see if I can get these at a better price on Wednesdays at Rainbow.

  6. Nancy

God bless you for all the work you do to help others manage their money wisely Carrie!! It does NOT come naturally to me and I feel allergic to grocery shopping so your tips and research are much appreciated. I think I found you thru KTIS radio and after reading lots of your site I can’t wait to make my first trip to Rainbow tomorrow aimed at shopping smart :o)
It must be lots of work so do whatever makes your life managable, but I love seeing all the prices for the weeks ad and I too have to buy certain items regardless of the end price. THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!!! ~Nancy

  7. Micky

Carrie – God Bless you for doing this for everyone. I check it all out. I look at the rock bottom prices, but I like to look at it all :o) – Micky

  8. Ellie

It would be nice to have both options.

  9. Rachel

Can you tell me where in the ad does it mention the “$2 off sugar WYO Kool Aid”? Thanks!!

  10. Bride of Martinstein

I’d say, Free and Rock-Bottom would be enough. I’d be satisfied if you left the other lack-luster stuff from the ad off your lists and we can be on our own to look through our coupons for stuff we “need” each week. We can read our own ads… we should do that anyway!

At first, if it was on your list, it kind of implied to me that you’d buy it at that price, whether to fill a need or add to your stash. I have gotten more savvy since I first got here, but I think it makes the most sense not to include the less-than-great deals unless you mark them somehow.

So, that is the question… If you feel like categorizing the level of the deal somehow is something you can do consistently, WITHOUT losing your sanity, I’m sure we’d all appreciate it. I really like what you are doing for us–it’s such a gift–and I’m sure we don’t want to burn you out!

  11. Jennifer

Carrie – I think just the super deals and rock bottom pricing items would be wonderful. I think most of us read the ads anyway and add what we need. Question – do you have a site that lists where the coupons can be found (i.e. what week and flyer)? Then we could search ourselves… Thanks for all you do Carrie!

  12. Kara

I just recently found your site (I’m so excited to finally find a “Rainbow” person!). I go through the online ad myself, but would love a heads-up on the rock bottom prices. Thanks so much!!

  13. Christina

I would like to see both rock-bottom prices and deals that are ok if you need them. If something isn’t really a deal (like $4 for a 12 pack) I wouldn’t want to see it unless there are good coupons available for it. If you could categorize the deals based on if they are an awesome deal or just ok, that would be great!

    Thanks for all you do!

  14. Candice

I wouldn’t mind seeing a variety depending on what your family’s schedule allows, Carrie. Highlighting the rock bottom “don’t pass this deal up” prices first would be the most important for me. Maybe a secondary list of “decent price- buy if you’re running low/in need” would be helpful? I’m very thankful for the work you put into this. :)

  15. Crystal

I like the way you list all of the sale items now. However, a red flag on items at or near Rock Bottom Prices would be ever so helpful. Thank you for all that you do!

  16. wendy

Thank you for all you do to help others save some money.
I like how you create well organized lists, but really like when you list what is a rock bottom price or a good price. I am still trying to figure that out.

  17. Tiffany

Rock Bottom Prices….I am always overwhelmed by all the items & want to know what is worth getting when I go. Thanks! :)

  18. Cherie

    Hi Carrie!

I am relatively new to Rainbow (been shopping there for a couple months now) and am not used to having a limit on doubled coupons or having to reach a certain dollar amount before they double! I moved here from CO and used to shop at King Soopers where there weren’t these conditions! This is my challenge. Anyway, I first want to thank you for putting these lists together for us all! It is so greatly appreciated! I know it is a lot of work and have to admit I don’t think I would be a Rainbow shopper if it weren’t for your lists. You really do save use all so much time and money! SO THANK YOU! :)

I think the lists you are doing now are great. I usually just go for the rock bottom prices though. Maybe instead of making multiple lists (1 for rock bottom/1 for decent – as some have suggested) you can just color code it. You already use RED for free. So maybe GREEN can be rock bottom and BLUE can be for decent deals (no less than what about 30% off?). I have learned just because it is on sale and has a coupon – doesn’t mean it is going to be a good deal – So I’d leave those items OFF altogether! Thats my suggestion! :)

I think the rock bottom prices would be plenty – though if you think something else is a GREAT deal – then share those ideas too!!

    $25 dollar for doubling reminder~
I just add a Rainbow gift card to my order if I don’t need to buy enough for doubling. I buy $10 or the amount needed to get to the $25 amount. I use it the next week or sometimes on the second order I do. I usuallty do two orders in a row to double 10 coupons.
    Hope this helps someone.

  22. Shawna

Thanks Carrie! I agree with most when I say that rock bottom prices are my favorites! I too ask the question “is this something Carrie would really go for” when I look at the items. :) I LOVE your site Carrie, it’s awesome, you do a great job getting our deals gathered up!!

  23. Bride of Martinstein

When you say you do “two orders” do you mean you put the divider deal-ee between your orders and just pay twice? Or do you go to the car and come back in….?

I probably worry to much, but I want to avoid icky cashier experiences as much as possible.

  24. Rachel

I would love to see both and I was thinking some kind of color coding system would be nice too! (That’s what http://www.thegrocerygame.com does to help differentiate rock bottom deals vs. sales vs. free.) Thanks for all of your work you put into this site!

  25. Keri

    Hi,

I read your list every week! It’s very helpful since we are a week behind you! I like to see both, but if the free and rock bottom prices were separated from the so-so deals, that would helpful. I also try to think, “Would she buy it at this price?”

  26. Jennifer

I was so bummed at Rainbow tonight, about half the items on my list were out of stock. I wasn’t really interested in getting rainchecks, but I might still head back this week. I almost went home without buying anything, but I figured since I went, I may as well at least do the cereal deal again. So I ended up doing two transactions, because I had two peanut coupons and you could only buy one at a time. So I ended up buying 6 boxes of cereal, two gallons of milk, activia yogurt, two containers of peanuts, peanut butter, and ended up spending *drumroll* $2.58 plus I have two more coupons for a gallon of milk ($7 value). Plus there was $.42 in the change dish from a previous customer. I saved around $36 in coupons alone. YAY!

  27. Susan

I just paid $65.65 for $113.23 worth of groceries at Rainbow tonight. Six boxes of GM cereal with $16 off (from the $10/6 boxes and 3 doubled $1/2 boxes) had a final price of $0.69/each! Lots of snacks, etc. No Name steaks at $7.99–we are ready for the cabin and now have a little extra cash!

  28. Ursula

I never go to the car in between. I usually do 2 orders with the divider in between. I use lots of free coupons for fillers too. I have been using the FREE Kitten chow coupons to get total up. I have my favorite cashiers. I do most of the time, pick young men or highschool boy cashiers. They think its cool the way I save with coupons. Never have a problem at my Rainbow with coupons,
