Update: Sorry to report that local Kmart stores are NOT doubling coupons this week after all. I did email Kmart’s corporate office and was told that regardless of the ad, that stores in MN were doubling. Today however, I called around and was told by staff at local stores that they are not. I apologize for any confusion. Kmart themselves is confused – with corporate telling customers one thing and the reality at the stores being another – and I passed that confusion along. Sorry.
I did forward the email I received from corporate to a local store manager so he can use ti to follow-up and understand what happened
Kmart stores in Minnesota will be doubling the value of manufacturer’s coupons next week. Update: although customer service says they are, local stores are NOT doubling coupons. Based on an email that both myself and a faithful reader, Nicole, received and my experience participating in this promotion in times past here is what I can tell you:
- Coupons up to and including $2 off coupons will be doubled in value. That means a $2 off coupon becomes like $4 off. Suh-weet!
- Does not include Kmart Store or Pharmacy Coupons
- Does not include copies of manufacturer coupons.
- Internet printed coupons CANNOT be doubled in value, but all other coupons can – from newspapers, magazines, etc.
- “Buy one, get one free” and “try me free” coupons are not doubled
- You can only double 10 coupons per day (this is sad because it used to be a 75 coupon per day limit)
I have confirmed this with Kmart’s customer service, even though it is not advertised in their weekly ad. True that I confirmed it with corporate, but corporate was wrong.
For those that are new to this “Super Doubles” promotion, here are some other tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way:
- Go with a plan: I will scope out some of the deals later this week and get a list up ASAP. If you have 10 coupons you plan to double, then be armed with 15 in case they’ve run out of something you want or the price in your store is higher than what you expected.
- Stick to your list:Everyday prices at Kmart are generally higher than Target or Walmart. You won’t want to impulse buy anything that’s not on your list.
- You won’t get an emotional kick: More than you might realize, you get an emotional “kick” from your shopping experience at your favorite stores. You probably won’t get that here. The store will be new, you won’t know where things are, and Kmart doesn’t make the best first impression.
Your turn: For those that have shopped Kmart’s “Super Doubles” (as they call it) before, what tips and advice do you have for newbies?

Hi – I checked my ad for 55068 today and didn’t see that the Burnsville Kmart is participating. Darn!
I just looked up the MN Kmart flyer ads and they didn’t have anything on doubling coupons for next week. Is MN still doubling????
I don’t see it in the ad either and found out about this because someone emailed Kmart to ask and the custoemr service rep told them that MN stores were in. I will check again. Sorry for any mix-up.
I emailed Kmart and this is what they wrote me back, We appreciate your interest in this promotion. The current Super Doubles Event is running from 6/7/09 – 6/13/09 and the stores in Minnesota are participating.” So, even though it is not advertised, it sounds like we are included. Yay! I updated the post to include Kmart’s email address if you want to hear it for yourself.
10 coupons per day? Could you do multiple transactions or do they keep track somehow?
Jennifer – I cannot tell you how they track, but my opinion is that since they explicitly request a 10 coupon per day limit that trying to get around that we need to honor that. I am never in favor of intentionally trying to get around the rules of coupons so that I can save a little more money. –Carrie
I just called Burnsville Kmart and they are NOT participating. Just FYI!
All – I just called around to a number of local stores and was told by all of them that they are not participating and that their registers are not doubling coupons. I asked about the email I got from corporate and was told that it was a miscommunication. I sent my email on to one of the store managers so he can let corporate know that they have been telling customers wrong info. Sorry for the confusion. Kmart is the one that has been confused and I have passed it along. Sorry. –Carrie
Oh, I wasn’t trying to scam the system. I’ve just haven’t been to Kmart for over 10 years. Literally. I know how Rainbow has their coupon limit, and you do multiple transactions, so I wasn’t sure if Kmart was the same way. And you say that internet printable coupons can’t be doubled, but I’ve seen other blogs where people are using them. So I was just trying to figure out the scoop before I ventured in today… Thanks for your clarifications.
Jennifer – I see. The difference between Kmart and Rainbow is that Rainbow does not say “limit xx number per day” whereas Kmart does. Rainbow only says “must total $25 before doubling begins”. Make sense?? Sad though, because it turns out that Kmart isn’t doubling after all :( –Carrie
