Who doesn’t want to save a buck when you take the family out to dinner? Kids eat free programs are a great way to do that. A couple that I have found and liked include TwinCitiesMom.com and KidsMealDeals.com. No list is perfect and no directory complete, but these are a great starting point for you on nights you plan for dinner out.
Being the frugal folks we are, when we go out with our 2-year toddler and infant we order an extra side of steamed veggies (usually $2.00-2.50) for her and share some of the protein from mine and my husband’s meals. And since she is still of sippy cup age we bring one along filled with milk. In this picture Victoria was about 15 months and enjoying some cheesy bread with dad at our favorite local pizza place.
Your turn: Where else do you go for “kids eat free” specials? What tips do you have for families that want to save money while eating dinner out?

I’ve recommended http://www.mykidseatfree.com on my blog. It’s a national directory of where kids can eat free. What’s nice about this particular site, is you can locate restaurants by city and state, so if you are going to be traveling, it’s a really handy resource.

The Perkins in Osseo (Brooklyn Park) offers the standard free kids meal per paid adult meal. *But* they also have entertainment every Tues & Sat. This includes face-/hand-painting, baloon animals, occasionally magic shows, and a couple who dress up as different characters (Bob the Builder, Supergirl, etc.). We go there every week and get my mother to come with so that all the kids eat free!

The entertainment is from about 4:30 to 7:00; the kids eat free deal is available from 4-10pm. Also, the entertainers do occasionally take a night off, so it might be best to call and check to make sure they are ther @ 763.493.4444. The entertainers also have schedules available so you can see which character will be there on any particular night. :O)
I was just told by a friend that Baker’s Square is no longer offering a kids eat free day. She was at the West St Paul location.
