I experienced a “first” today. It was my first time on the radio. I was a guest on Along the Way Radio on KTIS AM 900 with Stephanie Kay. If you missed it you can listen to the podcast here.
I have been on TV a number of times, twice so far related to this blog, and other times as well. So I know what TV’s about – a camera person, lights, tripod, filming of random things that get spliced into a story. But, what’s it like on live radio? Well, it’s like having a regular conversation with someone, in this case Stephanie and me, but the whole world is overhearing. It’s also like tuning out the world around you because the studio is totally soundproof – no echoes and not a peep gets in or out.
Going into this I was mainly excited to wear the cool headphones radio people wear and talk into a big microphone. Guess what? I got to do both. This photo proves it.

In all seriousness, my heart is to equip people so they can improve the quality of their lives. Right now I am doing that through Pocket Your Dollars. Working to teach and equip you, my dear readers, to save money on everything in life. But, to save money for a purpose – so you can dream beyond making the next mortgage payment or buying the next pair of kid’s shoes. I want you to look inside, get honest about what you want to be when you grow up and…go do it! But, for most of us it is money that holds us back. Can’t afford it. Can’t take the financial risk to step out into something new. Can’t afford to get the education you need to do it. Can’t. Can’t. Can’t. What if you could? What if you could get your finances in order so that money wasn’t the issue? Then you could step out and be what you dream to be. That, my friend, would make me happy. To know that you saved money on things that don’t matter, like toothpaste and baby wipes, so that you could instead spend that money on things that do matter – making an impact in your corner of the world.
All that to say, I welcome the opportunity to reach as many people through public speaking, teaching or the media as I can. In fact, I have more media and public speaking appearances scheduled for next week – stay tuned later this week for a run down of where to find me. Contact me here if you are interested in having me speak to your group or organization.
