Some people think that avid couponers spend their days running from store to store searching for a 12 cent savings. I’m not one of those people, but to be really honest I was raised by one of those types (love you dad!). I shop at Rainbow weekly and maybe pop into a second store if there is a compelling enough sale to get me in the door. This week though, I had to do a return at Target which meant driving by a Walgreens which is next to Walmart on my way to Rainbow. Can you see where this is going? I made four stops tonight and stopped into Walgreens one other time last weekend too. Isn’t that crazy??? And even though it sounds like I spent half the day running around, I didn’t. I pulled into my garage just over 2 hours from when I left, but I came back stocked up with freebies. Check out everything I got free this week:

Here’s how I did it:
- Cutter Bug Spray clearanced at $2 at Walmart: Used (2) $2/1 that were previously printable (I imagine there will be more of these throughout the summer. There were last year.)
- Dentek Floss Picks were $1 at Walmart: Used $1/1 from 1/18 Smart Source insert or printable here (print it twice)
- McCormick Grill Mate Marinade: Used $.50/1 from 4/19 Smart Source insert (doubled at Rainbow)
- McCormick Taco Seasoning: Used $.25/1 from 1/18 Red Plum insert (doubled at Rainbow)
- Barilla Whole Wheat Pasta: Used $.50/1 from 3/29 Smart Source insert (doubled at Rainbow)
- Huggies wipes: Used $1/1 from 4/19 Smart Source insert (doubled at Rainbow)
- 2 Dove trial size deodorants were $.97 at Target: Used $1/1 and $1.25/1 from 3/15 Red Plum insert
- Wheat Thins Artisan (on price cut at Target to $2.04 per box): Used B1G1 from3/15 Smart Source insert
- Dry Idea on Price Cut at Target for $2: Used $2/1 here
- Reach Floss was $2 at Walgreens: Used $1/1 from and overage from other coupons I had in my transaction (translation: I had coupons that exceeded the value of the items I bought so they essentially paid for this floss)
- Edge Shave Cream: Got Register Rewards (store credit for Walgreens) equal to the price I paid
- GUM Floss Picks are $2 at Walgreens: Used $2/1 here
- Johnson’s Baby Swabs at Target: Used $1/1 from 3/8 Red Plum insert and Target coupon for $1/1 Johnson’s product that was mailed to me
- Reynold’s Wrap: Used $1/1 from 3/15 Smart Source insert and will mail-in for rebate on full price from earth day promotion (no longer available)
- Right Guard Deodorant: Used 2 “Try Me Free” coupons that were printable for a short time over the weekend as part of the Celebrity Apprentice promotion of the product
- Just for Men at Walgreens: Will mail-in rebate here
In total I spent $60.18 this week for $226.26 in stuff; that’s a 73% savings. On top of that I have a $11.48 in rebates coming back to me and I earned $5 in Register Rewards (store credit for Walgreens) that I can use on my next purchase. That makes the bottom line more like $43.70 for the $226.26 in products. I don’t think $182 in savings is too shabby for a three-hour time investment. That’s like making $60+ an hour. I’ll take it!
